Such a sweet story and so well told through the illustrations. I've read quite a few graphic novels in the past but this one read like a book or movie. Wendell and Marjie's stories wove together in a beautiful way and I loved the ending. It was very adorable and fulfilling and perfectly timed for spooky season.

This was so cute! It seems so simple - just a little graphic novel - but it's so much more!
I laughed and I also cried. The pain Marjorie felt after losing her mom was palpable and I wish I could just reach out and hug her.
This graphic novel had villains, and heroes. We get love, loss, and finding a place in the world as a teenager (and we all know how hard being a teenager can be).
This is actually the first in a trilogy. I cannot wait to read the other two.

Such a lovely story of friendship, grief, sadness and redemption.
This read really well and the characters were relatable.
Big thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a copy of this in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you Netgalley and publisher for making this book available to read!

I have been intrigued by this particular book for a very long time and when I saw this one made available to read I got super excited!

It was well worth the read and I highly enjoyed my time reading. Very adorable book with matching adorable color schemes. Truly wonderful to recommend to anyone who loves reading illustrated books.

Thank you again for my copy!

I enjoyed the colour pallet of this book. It was lovely. It was also a very fun graphic novel. A triggering theme with this graphic novel is grief. I found this book or the story of it forgettable, I'm not planning on continuing with the series. Now what was fun was that my niece and I were able to enjoy this story together. This story had a lot of effort put into it as the author combined the ghost with the main character and tied the story together. This did confuse me but eventually I got it while I was reading the book.

Unfortunately I just didn’t get hooked it’s a sad story and well written but I still did really get hooked, it was quick read and the art is very good.

What a tender, heart breaking, story. The panels were stunning and made an already emotional story hit even harder.

I adored Wendell and Marjorie’s character arcs and friendship. I found myself really feeling for Marjie as she had to shoulder so many burdens and responsibilities in the wake of her family’s grief.

I opted to download this from the “Read Now” section of NetGalley because the cover & synopsis intrigued me.

Highly recommend for fans of graphic novels.

This was an okay little story. Taking place in the 1990's, a young teen and her family are still grieving her mother's death and she's running a laundromat by herself (she's thirteen y'all) as her father sinks into depression. It's pretty sad. And on the flip side, a young ghost is struggling to find his place among the other ghosts. Everyone raves about the artwork? But I don't think it's very good. The eyes mostly, are just terrible. The artwork is very simple. The story didn't make a whole lot of sense either. And apparently there's going to be a sequel this year. Hmm...

I have seen this comic over and over again since it's release, and I was always intrigued, but never got around to reading it. Now I'm glad I had the chance to read it after all.
While the plot and art style was different than what I expected, I enjoyed it and read it in one go.

Thank you Netgally for allowing me early access to this graphic novel.

Unfortunately, this book isn't for me. I struggled to connect with the main character (which could definitely be because of my age) and the story wasn't compelling me to want to read it.

This was quite the emotional book. It was painful to see how much Marjie had to do and had to struggle with at such a young age. She had to take care of not only her brother and somewhat her father, but the entire family business. All while dealing with the loss of her Mother and some crazy creeper guy that wanted to take over her business and replace it with his own. On the other end you had Wendell, who died at such a young age and had to deal with the ptsd from that and honestly, just wanted to be a kid.

The artwork was interesting. The noses.... the noses were not pretty. The characters looked much older and it was only because I read the blurb that I even knew Marjie was only 13. The colors, however, were lovely, as was the story on a growing/accepting loss level.

A really great look at grief and loss through many different types of frames. It seems to really get the feeling of middle school isolation perfected, and it was such a heartwarming story at the end. I think this is a great way to introduce kids to the idea of loss, friendship and all the big feelings that happen for preteens. On top of that, the artwork is great and very evocative!

I hadn't read Sheets before so I was surprised to see it up on NetGalley for request!

Sheets is a sad, sweet comic about grief and ostracization and unlikely friends, and about a community helping each other out. I think this'll be a good read for younger folks, especially maybe those dealing with the loss of a loved one (whether by death or moving away or any sort of loss really).

Thank you to NetGalley and Oni Press for the borrow in exchange for my honest review.

Upon a re-read, what strikes me most about ‘Sheets’ is the way it perfectly conveys grief and loneliness in such a young character. ‘Sheets’ is the first volume in a heartwarming graphic novel trilogy which centres on Marjorie as she grives her for her recently deceased mother and struggles to find her place amongst her peers. As well as this, she shoulders the responsibility of running her family’s laundromat and caring for her young brother whilst her father is consumed with his own mourning. This is paired with the story of Wendell: a young sheet-ghost who isn’t ready to accept his death and craves companionship just as much as Marjorie.

The characters are dynamic and endearing, the art style is visually pleasing (I love the coloured line-art), and the narrative is so cohesive and filled to the brim with authenticity and emotion. This is a wonderful first book in a wonderful series.

I really enjoyed this book! I will be recommending it to the middle school students in my class. This book deals with bullying, family member’s death, money troubles, living with a parent dealing with depression, and children learning to navigate through life with negative feelings. I think most students at my school do not have to deal with these issues but if it can help the several that are going through these types of things then it’s worth it to have them read it. I think the underlying message from this book is that we are never truly alone and there are others that are willing to help us deal with our problems. I can’t wait to read the next one!!!

The illustrations are perfection! The storyline is sweet, sad, emotional, and just down right beautifully done. Such a unique graphic novel filled with unique characters.

This was such a pleasant surprise! I picked it up this story on a whim -- laundry and ghosts sounded like an intriguining combination of things, and the art style just grabs the eye with the promise of spooky cuteness. Well, I'm pleaseed to report the art was cute throughout, but the story had loads of depth, enough to accommodate a pretty crushing depiction of isolation and depression that comes with being essentially made the caretaker of your family by the side of your bereaved parent, a truly offputting villain, and a much-welcome whimsy and levity that comes from... the underworld. I keep saying this, but there are few things more gothic than pastel suburbia!

I love being surprised by a middle grade story, and that's one of those. I picked it up on a whim -- laundry and ghosts sounded like an interesting combination of things, and the art style seemed cute. That's just how isolating those small American towns are I guess!

Thanks to Netgalley for an advance copy of the #Sheets. This was an enjoyable discovery!

I love middle school graphic novels. With having a son that is currently in middle school I love being able to read books together.

Sheets is a super cute graphic novel that deals with themes of grief, the loss of a parent, and the afterlife. The art style is adorable, and the story is easy to follow even if you are new to graphic novels.
