This was such a cute, fun and at some moments a little sad story.

Love the illustrations and the colors

This was a sweet story of grief and managing the feelings left behind when someone close to you passes away. The art was beautiful and I liked how they differentiated between the land of the living and the ghost world with colours.

This was such a delightful read!

The art is utterly delightful, the characters very sweet, the setting magical and I loved that it told the story of growing pains, grief, loss and found family in a most poignant and sensitive way.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this and finished it in one go.

SHEETS follows Marjorie, a teen running her family's laundromat alone, and Wendell, a young ghost in a sheet, who's lives collide with unexplainable disasters and messes but connect in ways both needed. The graphic novel is cute and charming with the soft, colorful and characters that warm your heart. I enjoyed the inclusion and conversations of grief with both the loss of family members and loss of self. I'm excited to continue with the next volumes, 4 stars.

I loved this graphic novel!
The art style was adorable and so was Wendell. Marj was a great MC as well.
The plot also made sense and was very interesting, I’d love to learn more about the land of ghosts.
But what the hell is up with the adults in this graphic novel? Starting with all of the customers complaining to a literal child when she is two minutes late to opening the laundry, uhm maybe she was at school? What the fuck. And in general constantly complaining and being assholes to a child who should not be working this much anyway?
The villain being an asshole is understandable and he does sort of get what he deserves.
I also get that Marjorie’s father is depressed after the death of his wife, but his twelve year old daughter has to do all the work so they can actually survive, take care of her little brother, go to school etc. and he still complains that she isn’t doing enough? Not okay even in the slightest bit. Also, that’s child labor and everyone kinda just glosses over that.
Well, to sum up: the kids in this are alright, the adults a catastrophe. I really love the writing style and the idea though.

A heartwarming story of friendship, healing from grief and loss, and allowing your community to support you. The ghost character is the sweetest and you’ll love the determination of the main character Marjorie. The drawings were full of expression and had a lovely soothing quality. I would definitely recommend for middle school readers, and think older readers will enjoy this as well, I know I did.

💕You might like this book if:
🔹 you like graphic novels that deal with real issues in unique and creative ways
🔹 you like stories that allow grief to be present and take the time needed for healing
🔹you like stories about unlikely friendships

This was a super special graphic novel exploring the prevailing loneliness of grief and how it can make us feel like we're floating through the world like a ghost. Similarly, a loss of identity can make us feel the same.

When Marjorie's mom dies, her father recedes into his pain and she takes care of the day to day operations of her family's laundromat while trying to navigate life as a 13 year old trying to grow up in a world where she's mocked by her peers and has no one to speak to.

As the family business circles the drain and a repulsive leech, Mr. Saubertuck, sets out to take the building from her family via a smear campaign and outright vandalism, Wendell the ghost shows up and he's got a story of his own to tell.

I think you'll love this graphic novel if you're a person that understands grief. I think you'll love this book if you love fall and Halloween. I think you'll love this book if you understand the pain of being young and struggling to determine your own identity.

What a great little read!

Nice, little story about family, struggles and being seen. It's two stories in one, but they both connect in the end. I liked the artstyle. It felt personal.

What a lovely, tender and heartbreaking story about grief and loneliness…and feeling like a ghost. Or, in Wendell‘s case, being a ghost. I read this in one sitting and enjoyed it. It would have been even more fun to read in autumn because the books has major moody autumn vibes.
It’s basically about a young girl whose mum died a year ago. Her father is depressed and rarely leaves his bedroom so the girl has to take care of the family owned laundry mat.
And there’s Wendell‘s part of the story. Wendell is the ghost of a young boy who also died about a year ago. He doesn’t really fit in with the other ghost teens and travels to the human world.

I’m a big fan of the artwork in this book. It is amazing and so unique. I loved the use of different color palettes for the different storylines and flashbacks.

The story itself was interesting and heartwarming but a bit weak. I wish there would have been more dialogue at times and a further developed plot. The mood is quiet heavy and dark and while I appreciated that, it might not be for everyone.

I was surprised at the subjects covered in this book. It's not as light as I initially thought, but highly entertaining and detailed. I would recommend it.

I love graphic novels so I was delighted to be gifted this series, thank you NetGalley!

Sheets is short, sweet, wholesome and just an all round great read! We follow Marjorie, a young teen that's trying to keep herself and her family afloat after the death of her mother. Their laundrette is failing, her dad is suffering from depression, so it's up to Marjorie to look her brother, the business and everything else. We then meet Wendell, a young ghost that makes his way back to the the human world. While his arrival is a little chaotic for Marjorie, we see a lovely friendship blossom between the two.

The novel itself is beautifully drawn, it was a treat to read and look at; it's just so, so lovely! Getting to know these characters and their stories warmed my heart, I love them so much. While it may look like on light hearted side, Sheets does deals with some serious topics such as grief, depression and death. Although, I thought they were handled delicately and with the care they deserve.

I'm so excited to read the next installment because I just need more Wendell and Marjorie!

My heart says 5 STAR all the way. Wendell - actually, ALL the ghosts - were adorable. I mean, their eyes were expressive, as were the ways the author creatively differentiated each ghost. Some elements were predictable, and other moments were glossed over that I wished were played out. I connected to Marjorie quickly. I was moved greatly by the loss of her mother and, in some ways, her father. Her connection with Wendell, a "recently" de and Iceased teen ghost, was sweet and genuine. And the artwork for this was (*ahem) out of this world! The color palette alone is beautiful. I loved the wordless emotions expressed on Marjorie and Wendell's faces - from frustration to joy and sadness. This was a wonderful story to be told and read and I can't wait to pick up the sequel.!

This is a cute graphic novel but which also covers heavy themes of grief, loss, mourning and loneliness. Despite the vibrant colour palette, the protagonist wears a sombre expression most of the time which I thought was subtle but great storytelling.

I would have liked the plot to have been more fleshed out, particularly when it comes to the Wendell, the other ghosts and their world. But overall, this was an enjoyable read and I'm looking forward reading the entire series!

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Oni Press for my copy of this beautiful graphic novel! I’ve been wanting to read this one for a while and honestly I didn’t know too much about the plot going in, it was the cover that immediately drew me in.

This is a middle grade (could also be enjoyed by YA readers honestly) graphic novel about Marjorie who has been running her family’s laundromat after her mother passed away. Things haven’t been going well and things keep going wrong inside the laundromat and a rich businessman is doing everything in his power to sabotage them because he wants to open up a spa resort in the same location. Wendell is a young ghost who takes a trip from the Land of Ghosts to the human world just to feel human again and ends up in Marjorie’s laundromat. As their paths cross they realise that maybe they could help each other out.

The art style in this was GORGEOUS. The colours and the illustrations were cute while being meaningful as well. I found some parts of this to be extremely sad and other parts really heartwarming. Wendell is adorable and honestly he can haunt my house any day. The plot itself was partly Marjorie balancing her life as a teenager while running a whole business, caring for her younger brother and dealing with her Dad’s depression after her mother’s death. The other side was about the sabotaging of the laundromat and how Marjorie could solve the problems occurring as a result.

If you want a cute but emotional and at some times definitely bleak graphic novel to read then this is it. I would say the overall mood is sad but there are some heartwarming moments as well. Don’t go into this expecting a completely happy and lighthearted read like the cover suggests!

Sheets is a aesthetically pleasing and vivid story. Captivating and truly beautiful. Some of the pages I simply bookmarked to reference back to because they were just so stunning to look at. An emotional story that speaks about fear, grief, and finding joy in mundane activities. A perfect cozy read.
Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the complimentary e-book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions in this review are my own.

Oh my heart! This is so sad but also such a healing story. Marjorie is trying to keep her family’s laundromat business afloat after the death of her mom, but it’s hard when a young ghost named Wendell seems to sabotaging the business. This is such a nuanced story of grief and beginning to heal and friendship. I really enjoyed it and am so glad I had the chance to read it!

I really loved the colour palette and art style of this graphic novel and the cover is what drew me in. I thought it dealt with the topics of grief, loneness and friendship really well, while also having an uplifting spirt about it. I loved the focus on second chances, friendship and not giving up when things get hard. It made me want my own ghost friend and I think it is a great slightly spooky read for the run up to Halloween, or like me so one who loves Halloween things all year round.

I would 100% read more graphic novels in this series or by this author/ illustrator as it gave me real feel good vibes.

Thank you to Oni Press and Netgalley for this eARC!

Wow, what a beautiful little story. Sheets follows Marji, a girl whose family owns a laundromat, and Wendell, a recently-departed ghost. This story needs a bit of suspended belief to follow, but it is sweet nonetheless. As someone who lost a parent young, I really resonated with the sadness of Marji, and the separation she felt from her peers. The story doesn't dive too deeply into how she is feeling or why, but instead shows you how her life interacts with this separation.

The illustrations are adorable, and I loved seeing the mystical nature of the sheets-turned-ghosts. This was a very sweet tale, and I can easily see myself sitting down and to read through it again.

Um... this was weird... and confusing... but I sort of liked it? When Marjorie’s mother dies, she becomes responsible for running her family’s laundromat. Along comes evil Mustache Head, a man who is trying to sabotage the business and take her property. Marjorie meets a ghost named Wendell, and the two find a way to take Mustache Head down.

The graphics were amazing, but I’m really not convinced by the age range of 9-12 years. I’m 24 and I swear question marks were popping up around my head as I read this. It was cute but just okay.
