Danielle Steel, you will always be my favorite. I always love getting lost in your stories and Never Too Late did not disappoint. Beautiful story about crisis, connection, and change.

This was a wonderful story! It is a story that starts with tragedy but it is also story of relationships. Kezia and Sam meet on the 4th of July during an unthinkable tragedy. Their friendship grows while they are working together to help people affected by the horrible attack on their country.. Their relationship grows as do the relationships of their children. As the country heals Sam and Kezia fall in love and realize it’s never too late! Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Three romances and a tragedy combine to make a terrific story. Interesting back stories for many of the characters. Dysfunctional relationships add to the tale. I hadn't read any of Danielle Steel's books in several years. So glad to have discovered this one. Thanks to the publisher for providing a copy via NetGalley. My review is voluntary.
The was a fantastic read that was short & sweet.
I enjoyed the story- even though it was a short book the main characters were developed enough you became invested.
Tragedy, friendship, love, sadness, family... it's never to late to start again.
This is a good story full of heartache and love. It is a little more intense than some Steel books but it is a good way to spend a cozy afternoon by the fire. I always enjoy books by Steel and this one doesn’t disappoint. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.
Good novel by Danielle Steele. Not my typical thriller obviously but this was definitely written well. 4 stars!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I really enjoyed this book at another chance in love and life. Finding love after loss. Starting over is hard at any age but Kezia makes it look easy.
A bond forged through a traumatic experience. We get to see how her adult daughters find love.
This was my first Danielle Steele book and will definitely read more from this author.
A typical Danielle Stelle novel. No surprises there . Read in 1xday, but enjoyed the break from my usual genres. 3 stars.
I hadn’t read a Danielle Steel novel in a long time. While this book isn’t my usual genre, ( I’m more thriller or rom-com), I really enjoyed it. It was very enjoyable read, I enjoyed the characters, the NYC setting and the hopeful ending.
Thank you to Danielle Steel, Random House Publishing Group-Ballantine, Delacorte Press ,and NetGalley for the ARC.
I’ve read a few Danielle Steel books and had an idea of what I going to be reading. Never Too Late followed my expectations of a formulaic romance novel, but this fell a little short. The characters all felt a little one dimensional and not realistic. The story jumps between characters, so even if you had a vested interest in one you never really fully connect to their life. This is a very short book, so that causes me to not see any true character development. Instead I felt like a terrorist attack was used just as a reason to get our two main characters together. There are many other “meet cute” ways they could have met that do not involve this massive 9/11 style trauma. At times it was like I was reading two different books; one a romance and one an FBI thriller. While I’m sure those that are fans of Ms Steel’s works will love this book, I do not think I was the right audience.
Thank you to NetGalley and Delacorte Press for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

I loved this book. It was my first Danielle Steel book and I’m excited to read more from her. It was full of love and heartache. Great read for sure!
What I liked about this story:
Kezia is a mother of two grown daughters who she loves with her whole heart. She is adjusting to widowhood having lost her beloved husband who she’d dreamed of growing old with. he moves from California to NY to spend time with her daughters and start anew. What she doesn’t have any thoughts on is a romantic love. She had that with her beloved husband who she’d dreamt of growing old with. As they say, make plans and the universe laughs!
Her across the hall (they’re the only two on their floor) neighbor, Sam is also trying to move forward after the loss of his beloved wife. When a terrible attack happens in NYC and they are literal witnesses from their terraces, they connect over the horror. From there, a friendship blossoms and then some. Lots of real life family issues are part of the story and all of them lead to love all around and a wonderful happily ever after for everyone.
What I didn’t like was using a 9/11 like attack on NYC as fodder. With so many other ways to create a fictional tragedy to bring people together in my opinion it was in poor taste and can be triggering for many. I am not too sure if there will ever be a time for that. So while I’d have given the story a 4, I’ve revised down. This book should come with trigger warnings.
Never Too Late tells the compelling story of a mother and her two very different daughters during a terrorist attack similar to 9/11. Kezia is former nurse practitioner who was recently widowed and has been struggling to move forward since her beloved husband's death. When she moves into a new apartment in New York, she connects with a famous but grounded movie star, Sam, and strikes up a quick friendship. Quickly after Kezia and Sam meet, there is a terrorist attack that's even worse than 9/11. Sam and Kezia volunteer to help the victims, and in so doing, strengthen their bond.
Meanwhile, Kezia's older daughter, Kate, is a struggling writer who longs for a relationship with her natural father, who has never been a part of her life. Kezia warns Kate that her biological father might not live up to her expectations, and she doesn't understand why Kate doesn't consider her adoptive father (Kecia's deceased husband) as the father figure she yearns for. Kate is a moody character, very different from her happy-go-lucky sister Felicity, a model for whom everything always seems to fall in place. For Kate, nothing ever seems to work out, including her writing career and romantic relationship with a man who seems more interested in her money than her personality.
This book is a nice diversion from reality. The characters are interesting enough to keep the pages turning, and I liked seeing everyone overcome their obstacles. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my opinions.
What happens when neighbors in New York City are thrown into the aftermath of what looks like a terrorist attack.? They help in any way they can. What seems like the golden years in these two people's lives turns out to be a new beginning. I love all of the characters and how they are struggling to make their life something that leaves a legacy. The individual stories that blend in such a way that the story leaves you wanting more. Great book. Thank you NetGalley for the ARC
Never Too Late is a typical Danielle Steel story of heartache, forgiveness and love. It tells the story of Kezia Cooper Hobson a widower who moves to New York to be closer to her daughters. There is strife between one of the daughters who feels abandoned by her father. The other daughter is a successful model.
Shortly after arriving in New York, Kezia is standing on her penthouse balcony admiring the NYC skyline when a terrorist attack happens. Personally, I felt like the attack was thrown into the book to try to make it sensational. The attack was not talked about in the story much and was solved very quickly. It just didn’t fit with the story. It either needed to be more of a storyline or think of another way for Kezia to meet her next-door neighbor.
Thank you NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group – Ballantine for my ARC in exchange for my review.
NEVER TOO LATE
BY: DANIELLE STEELE
4.25 Stars!
Danielle Steel has written another quick and light reading experience with the second novel I've read in a row called, " Never too Late." I was also drawn to read this because she has dared yet again to explore the life of a 59 year old woman starting over after the death of her husband. This strong and fiercely independent main female protagonist is named Kezia Cooper Hobson. Kezia had been living in San Francisco, California and she just sold her Pacific Heights home and her late husband Andrew's share in a venture capitalist company. She had spent the last five years as a widow and needed a life changing move. San Francisco was becoming a bit too small for her and since her two daughters lived in New York City she wanted to start her life over there and be near them. This novel goes to show that if you're unhappy or feel stagnant in life it's never too late to start fresh if you have the courage.
Kezia's eldest daughter Kate had been trying to write a book and also felt the need to make some changes in her life. When Kezia arrives in New York City in late June to her midtown penthouse her youngest daughter Felicity has been out of town working two weeks, in Paris at Paris Fashion Week. Felicity is 23 years old and has been living as a successful model. She had been 18 years old when her father died, and she had been going to college at USC in Los Angeles. She had never been a strong student and dropped out after two years. She was discovered by the head of a New York modeling agency at around the same time. Felicity has a kind and supportive older divorced boyfriend named Blake White who is 39 years old who is successful working at Goldman Sachs. He has a young son from his previous marriage. Blake's only child is a son named Alex, and he is 6 years old and Felicity enjoys spending her time with the two of them when she's not working. They have rented a house in Southampton for June, July and August. Kezia has a warm and loving relationship with Felicity whose success didn't go to her head and is very grounded despite how sought after she was rising to the top in her career. Felicity treats Blake's son Alex like a big sister rather than taking on a motherly role and she is a happy well adjusted person and mature for her age.
Kate who is Kezia's older daughter has always been more complicated to deal with. Everything about Kate is more serious and intense. Kate's biological father was different than Felicity's even though Kezia's husband and Felicity's father Andrew was not Kate's real father she was treated like Andrew's daughter. Kezia's mother had died when she was 3 years old and was raised by her loving father in Vermont. Kezia's father had been a general practitioner or rather a doctor who Kezia loved the science of medicine that she shared with her father. She had gone to the University of Vermont, as a science major, and entered nursing school in Boston after she graduated. She had gotten pregnant by Kate's father when they were in Boston to a young man named Reed Philips. Kezia had been studying to become a nurse practitioner, which had been a life long dream.
Reed Philip's and Kezia had a summer romance when she got pregnant with Kate. Since he had plans of becoming a doctor he made it clear to Kezia he had no room in his life for a wife and a baby. His life's dream was to go to Africa and work with Doctors Without Borders. He made it clear that he would relinquish all rights of Kate when she was born. Kate grew up in Vermont with her grandfather and Kezia raising her until she was 12 years old. Kezia's father had taken care of Kate when she was a baby during the week and Kezia came home from Boston on weekends to be a mother to Kate. This way she was able to graduate in her studies during the week to achieve her goal as a nurse practitioner. Kate as a child was spared as much as possible of the news that her biological father didn't want her. She was always writing in her journal and she always said that one day she would write a book. She was lavished with love by both her mother and her grandfather. It was a small minded gossip town in Vermont and Kezia was a devoted mother to Kate and worked in her father's medical practice. Kate was an introverted child The field of medicine held no interest for Kate.
At her father's insistence Kezia flew out to a medical conference in San Francisco, and by chance or luck she met Andrew Hobson. He happened to be at the same conference as Kezia and he was there because he had investments in several of the technologies that were being introduced. They went to dinner and lunch and Kezia thought he was the kindest man she ever met. He was a widower without children and 20 years older than Kezia and he never had any children. Andrew flew out to Vermont for six months where he met Kezia's father and Kate and they got married in a small ceremony there. It was hard leaving her father but he wanted Kezia and Kate to be happy and since they were moving to San Francisco, he had wanted what was best for his daughter and granddaughter.
Kate was always looking towards the past mourning her grandfather and her biological father who she felt had rejected her. Even though Andrew had adopted her and left her an inheritance that was one third of his estate making Kate a very rich young woman. She could never get over the feeling of not being wanted by her biological father and had a string of broken romances with men who always rejected her. Now she was living with a man named Jack who Kate supported with the money that Andrew had generously left her. Kate always looked to what was missing in her life compared to Felicity who was joyful and bubbly and looked towards her future with optimism. Kate was now 37 years old and had been with Jack for four years. Kate and Jack took writing workshops together, but Kezia felt that Jack had less ambition and had latched on to her daughter to pay the bills and support him. Jack was 42 and had no plans of getting married to Kate which worried Kezia. Kezia thought Jack was pompous and she secretly hoped for better prospects to come along for her daughter.
Meanwhile Kezia was happy starting out fresh in New York City. She lived on the 60th floor of a penthouse and was looking forward to spending as much time as she could with her two daughters.
Kezia had spent the day shopping and Kate called her to come by and see her mother's new penthouse which had a panoramic view. She dropped the bombshell that her new therapist thought that she should go to Africa and meet her biological father. Kate had made plans to go with Jack.
The realtor had told Kezia that her neighbor was a famous movie star named Sam who was hardly ever there and they shared two separate express elevators. There was a huge terrace that they shared but was walled off by a huge hedge-like plant. He had lost his wife two years ago and the realtor told Kezia that he was a recluse so she didn't have to worry about him having large parties or making noise.
Will Kate get the closure she craves when she travels to Africa to meet her biological father? Both daughters are luckily out of the country when on the 4th of July out on her terrace watching the fireworks Kezia sees and hears explosions. Her neighbor Sam comes through the hedge to watch the pandemonium taking place over New York City's landmarks. Sam and Kezia decide to go and see if they can help out the police and firefighters who are understaffed for an attack on the city. Kezia has kept her nursing practitioners license current. She and her newly met neighbor Sam work most of the night with the injured and dead. This attack is worse than 911.
This novel was predictable like so many of Danielle Steele's books when it comes to romance. This one had much more depth than the one that I just read called, "Upside Down." They both were good and appealing because they featured strong independent women around 60 overcoming adversity. This one I liked a little more because of the action of the city being attacked and how I never saw that coming. Kezia's two daughters were as different as night and day. It was unpredictable where things ended up in Kate's life so I appreciated her multidimensional character development. This was by far my favorite of the two that I read back to back. I like that I can escape and live vicariously through these characters lives. Both could be read during one sitting and this one had more depth and I enjoyed it immensely. I liked that Kezia's oldest daughter had a complicated personality and even though she had enough money thanks to her adopted father that she had many obstacles to overcome.

Trigger Warning: Death, Terrorist Attack
When an attack on New York City happens on the Fourth of July it leaves everyone shell shocked.
Kezia is recently widowed and moves from San Francisco to New York to be closer to her daughters and have a fresh start in the next chapter of her life. Little did she know the next chapter would find herself going back to her passion for Nursing, finding love and growing closer to her adult daughters.
Kate, a writer who’s been having writers block and feels inadequate in her relationship with her boyfriend Jack and with her Mother and sister. Kate overcomes her longing to belong when she finds herself able to let go of the past so she can move on to the next phase of her life.
Felicity is the “golden child” according to her sister Kate. She has everything she could want in life. An amazing career, a doting boyfriend and the life of leisure. Felicity wants nothing more than for those who she loves to be happy.
I loved how the book brought the mother and daughters closer due to Kezia’s move. I also loved how finally Kate and Felicity because real sisters and were able to find a relationship. I thought there would be more to the storyline with the attackers who carried out the horrific attacks as they were mentioned multiple times.
Overall, I thought this book took you on a journey about how you have human connections when tragedy hits and how in each of the characters lives it proves it’s Never Too Late to change your life’s path.
Thank you to NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group for the eARC in return for an honest review.
Never Too Late is book #51 I’ve read by Danielle Steel. On July 4th, a horrible attack happens in NYC - worse than 911 and I can’t imagine anything worse than that. Danielle Steels latest book tells her story and it kept me intrigued until the very last page. I loved the characters and despite the horrible attack that thousands more lost their lives, some new relationships and friends were also made. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this advance copy. To be published March 2024.
This may have been a bit darker than a normal DS book with its content but it was till so we’ll written and made for a gripping storyline. I would’ve liked a more in depth look at the characters maybe but for a quick read it still worked out well. Many thanks to the publisher and netgalley for this copy for read and review
