Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this book. Kezia is ready for some changes. She decides to move to New York and finds the perfect space. She meets Sam who she likes. When an emergency happens near them. They both volunteer to help. The more time they spend together the closer they become. This was an enjoyable read and I cant wait to read her next one.
I would like to thank NetGalley and Random House Ballantine for allowing me to read this book and give my honest opinion. This book was a hard topic that I think some people will still have an issue swallowing. The book starts off with Kezia, a widow who moves to a penthouse in NYC after the death of her husband and subsequently the sale of his company. Next door, at the other penthouse is Sam, a well known actor. On July 4, while watching fireworks, an attack similar to 9/11 happens to NYC. Kezia and Sam decide to go volunteer with the recovery (as Kezia is a nurse practitioner). The ensuing story remains split between what happens to NYC (with the manhunt to find out who did it) and the love story between Kezia and Sam. I enjoyed the book but it was heavy.
What a sweet story! Well written with emphasis on how a disaster can bring people together! Kezia is the mother of to beautiful but very different daughters. This is their stories and how they found love!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Enjoyable read with mature characters. The growth of the characters, specifically the "children", was interesting. I like the disparity between the sisters and how they deal with the differences in their parentage. The son is a strong character for knowing his own mind and sticking to his convictions. The struggles were thought provoking - do we go along because it's easier? Or because it's expected? I did find the prospect of another "9/11" upsetting, although I realize that it could certainly occur. This is not a read for those with issues related to the attacks on 9/11, but otherwise, recommend.
This book was a little slow for me at first but once I got into it I liked it. It brought back a lot of memories from 911. It had suspense and romance. Didn’t end like I thought it would. I would definitely recommend this to everyone.
I really loved this one by Danielle Steel. It is full of heart and love for sure. The characters I fell in love with and the whole plot of the story I did as well. I always wonder how Danielle Steel comes up with idea for stories that pull you in and hold onto you from beginning to end. She always manages too though.
Kezia Hobson is a fairly new widow and has decided that it is time for her to sell her home in San Francisco that she is in and move to New York. Kezia will be closer to one of her daughters there. Kezia has just sold her late husband's venture capital firm and is ready to not be tied down and she is ready for a change. Kezia goes ahead of her household goods and plans to live with as little as she can until her stuff gets to New York. What Kezia doesn't plan for is the attack on New York again right outside her own window.
On the Fourth of July in New York, something unexpected happens besides fireworks going off. Kezia can't believe her eyes when she notices what is happening while standing on her shared balcony. Her neighbor that she shares the balcony with starts a conversation with her through the hedge that divides their balcony. Sam is a very well known actor that lives on the other side of the penthouse in Kezia's building. She never believed that she would meet Sam like this but, it is what it is. The two immediately hit it off and tear an opening in the hedge so that they can get to each other without having to go all the way down and back up in the elevator.
When Kezia and Sam turn on the TV, they hear the call for anyone with medical experience to go to the sites to try and help. Kezia knows that she has to go, she is a retired nurse with skills that will come in handy. Sam is not going to let her go on her own though so they both take off in hopes of being able to help.
Kezia's two daughter's, Felicity and Kate, are in their own worlds and don't even really realize that their mother is in the middle of the tragedy that has struck New York city and helping out. They also don't notice that Kezia and Sam are starting to spend some time together. They are both wrapped up in their own worlds. They will get to meet Sam soon enough though.
I love how all of these characters are going through their own things but eventually come together. I know you will enjoy getting to know them like I did. I just wish we could get more of each of them and the book didn't have to end. This was a great story by Danielle Steel like always.
I voluntarily read and reviewed this book and all opinions are my own. Thanks to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for an advanced copy.
Thanks NetGalley for the advanced copy. I was really interested in reading this book. Unfortunately it just wasn’t for me. I felt the story drug on too much. Too many details. Just not a read for me.
This is the first Danielle Steel book I have read in a few years. It did not disappoint! The book kept me interested until the end. It was a typical romance book by Steel, but very well written, and made me feel like I was right there with the characters. This was another well written book and I would definitely recommend!
Admittedly, I do enjoy most Danielle Steel novels. Never Too Late was a fast, mostly easy read. I can see Steel trying to stretch the formula by adding a terrible, tragic bombing to compliment the romance in this novel, but I did find the bombings painful and upsetting to read.. Anyone who has lived through or lost someone in a terrorist attack, should heed this warning. A large part of the first third of the novel is horrific to read. I found Never Too Late difficult to read and sometimes offensive.
I have read a number of Steel's recent novels, and so I have gotten quite good at predicting the motifs and characterizations. I do wish the characterizations and descriptions would contain more variety. The men are a type, as are the women and even grown children. This novel is a fast easy read, and I suspect that many of Steel's fans do not care how predictable her novels have become. When readers feel they can write the stories, the stories need more complexity.
I suspect that many Steel fans will devour Never Too Late, in spite of the trigger warning abut a terrorist attack. Her best novels work to include some complexity in plot and personality. Never Too Late did not. Thank you to both author and publisher for providing this ARC in exchange for my honest review. Thank you also to NetGalley for making it so easy to find and download books.

Kezia Cooper and her husband Andrew had a great marriage but he died five years ago and at Kezia decides it is time to move from San Francisco to NYC - a place she always loved; additionally is where her two adult daughters live.. Her sixth birthday is coming up and she thinks – it is never too late to try something new and perhaps find happiness again.
As she is settling into her new apartment, she finds that her terrace is next to Sam Stewart a movie star! Things click for them.
Although I wasn't thrilled with NYC having another disaster – most of the story was an enjoyable read
I have been a Danielle Steel fan since 1977. At that time I could not wait until her next novel was release. Although I did move onto Psychological Thrillers but there is a magnet holding as well as a soft spot for Ms. Steel. This is #49 for me ~ so yes we Danielle Steel fans are a unique group and I am proud to be a member!

60 year old Kezia moves to NYC to start fresh five years after her husband's death. Several days after arriving, NYC is (fictionally) hit by another terrorist attack. Her adult daughters also have some struggles.. A movie star (think Liam Neeson) lives next door.
Cute.
As a healthcare professional, I especially enjoyed the main character of this book! Finding love along the way was just a bonus!
Thank you Net Galley for allowing me to receive this book for an honest review.
You can never get enough of Danielle Steel. I love all her books. I had a hard time putting this one down.
What a nice story about grief, loss and love.
How people come together in unusual circumstances.
I loved the characters and loved to join in on their journey with each other.
This is definately a book I would recommend and beware you won't want to put it down.
Danielle Steel blew it out of the park again with Never Too Late. Two strangers- one disaster- and a new relationship formed.
Kezia, recently widowed, moves to New York to start fresh. Following her daughters (Kate - a struggling writer and Felicity- a top-tier fashion model) Kezia is so excited for a new social life, friends, and a start to the rest of her life.
When a tragedy hits New York City again, Kezia and her neighbor Sam connect over helping to manage the crisis.
What starts as a friendship turns into something more as the two work to heal the city, and themselves.
Whoa this one was so good I read it one sitting!! Great characters, a fast paced story, I literally could not put it down…all of the characters were well-rounded and fleshed out…both daughters were fun to get to know and the two lead characters are new faves…the almost son-in-law reminded me of so many people I know. LOL fans of DS will devour this one!!

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
In this powerful, moving novel the importance of human connection and embracing change was highlighted. Loved the title, cover and message!
Triggers: tragedy bombing
The book is short and there’s not much character development, romance is not my usual genre but I liked this one. I would recommend this book to people who read Danielle Steel.
4 stars
Another amazing book! The past few books by her have been nothing short of amazing, and I think give lessons into life….like if you are not happy then it’s time to move on regardless! This one also has another lesson in it! I have never been so impressed lately with how her books are going!!! Another 5 star book!
Thank you Netgalley and the Publishers for this ARC for an exchange for an honest review.
Nicely written, good story.
This one honestly wasn’t my favorite from this author but it was a pretty quick and good read! I flew through it.
This book was great. A book that flowed effortlessly (despite the shocking explosions in NYC) and I did not want to put it down. All the characters were well developed and easy to care about, Sharing in the exploration of a new life, after the one Kezia thought would last forever was heartbreaking and inspiring. I did not ant to put this book down or for it to end. But ending with “ It had been a summer of change, healing, and victory, and the discovery that it was never too late for dreams to be born again.” was perfect!
