Thank you NetGalley for letting me read this book.

This was my first book by Katee Robert, I know it’s in a series I’ve never read, that’s okay, I like spoilers. I enjoyed the characters and the storyline, but some of the scenes were not for me. I wish the ending had an epilogue, but other than that I really enjoyed it.

Midnight Ruin is a great addition to Katee Roberts' Dark Olympus series. For anyone who was waiting for Eurydice, Persephone's sister, to get her time to shine, this was the book you were waiting for. Eurydice and Charon have been close ever since she needed a friend who was willing to help her overcome her trauma by being targeted by the previous tyrannical Zeus. As their feelings come to a head, Eurydice finds that she must confront her conflicted feelings for her ex-boyfriend Orpheus and how things ended between them, before she can pursue a serious relationship with Charon.

Her and Charon's search for closure with Orpheus turns into something else entirely, while the politics of Olympus start to devolve into dangerous chaos.

The spice was top notch, especially if you're dom/sub dynamics that aren't just your standard dominant man/submissive woman. Orpheus is submissive to both Eurydice and Charon, and I love seeing more queer relationships in Roberts' work. I'm happy to recommend another great book in this addictive, high-stakes world.

I went into this story with lots of reservations... Orpheus? Ugh. Puppy play? Not my thing, but okay... COLOR ME SURPRISED BECAUSE HOT DANG THAT WAS SO GOOD IN UNEXPECTED WAYS. I also reread via the audiobook and loved it all over again. Zara Hampton-Brown and Alex Moorcock did a wonderful job narrating this story.

*possible small spoilers ahead*

Firstly, I want to point out that Charon is E V E R Y T H I N G. Just everything. He is so sweet, protective, understanding and seriously just everything. I get that Eurydice had hang ups with Orpheus, but her all but telling Charon he wasn't enough for her, I wanted to smack her upside the head with the frying pan he used to cook her breakfast. And somehow he took that in stride and found himself in love with Orpheus too.

Orpheus was nothing like I expected him to be from the previous books in the series. He was clearly so broken after what he did to Eurydice. Should he have known better? Yes, but he owned up to that and didn't in fact spend the past year screwing anything in sight. And then he literally begged like a dog for forgiveness and sure as heck earned mine.

I really enjoyed the suspense and action in this story as well. I was so tense at times reading, wondering what was going to happen next. It's certainly setting up the next books to be really interesting.

Why four stars you ask when I clearly loved this book? The ending. What in the heck Katee?! *sobs uncontrollably* I was expecting more. Like more pages, even just five. But instead we make it past the third act and then stop on a dime with barely a HFN in sight. I'm really hoping she makes it up to us in bonus epilogues *fingers crossed* but for now I'm going to sit and stew and dream of good boys in nurse maid outfits.

3.5 Stars

I was really looking forward to this installment, but it just wasn't there for me. It's not at all a bad book, something was just missing.
I don't know if I liked Charon. His constant use of baby gave me the ick.
Loved Orpheus being a pup. Having to pay penance, perfect. As he should.
Eurydice is super relatable, if both is an option you take it.

The overlapping political storyline was so good in this. I can't wait to see where that goes.

Probably my least favorite of the series so far but it’s still a fun series.

Eurydice rebels against being baby-ed by her family, balances (or rather doesn’t) her heart being torn between Orpheus and Charon and I think we figure out who [redacted] is. Overall, good for the plot but the steam wasn’t to my taste.

This is a book I’ve been waiting for—ever since Eurydice crossed the bridge and came to the lower city. When I read the description, I was really wondering how Orpheus would redeem himself. I’m not sure he did. The heat and connection between Charon and Eurydice was obvious, but I didn’t see where it came from between Charon and Orpheus. If you’re reading the series, you definitely should read it, but on its own the story wasn’t great for me.

Incredibly hot newest addition to the Dark Olympus Series that demonstrates that you can have your cake and eat it too. Because why just have Eurydice and Orpheus when you can also have Charon.

OMG I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS!!! I believe that this series gets better and better with each book. The macro plot EXPLODES in this novel with the reveals. We get THE BEST REVEALS in this book, and this triad is the best angst ever!! We have been ramping up to this one for a while, and the light puppy play was PERFECTION!! I basically consumed this book in one sitting, and I am SCREAMING!!!

Every time I read a Dark Olympus book, I always think “These are so good, I don’t know how the next one will be better.” THEN, every time, Katee Robert writes them better and better. Every book in this series I have devoured, and this one is no exception. It hooks you immediately and the dynamic between the trio is incredible. This book had me WISHING a man would do be dirty, so he could serve his penance like Orpheus. Absolutely loved!

Bravo, once again! These books never disappoint. I always enjoy the love triangles! These books have such great storyline as well as that super hot smuttiness! 🔥 wowza.

Please read the content warnings before entering!

My only complaint was some of the repeated dialog and exact words and phases used back to back. Even with that though it didn't take anything away from the story.

I'm sad it ended where it did , but as always, I cannot wait for the next story!!!

I really enjoyed the writing, as always with Katee Robert. Though, I definitely favored the Charon and Eurydice storyline specifically. Also, the overall plot is really picking up which makes me excited for the rest of the series!

This is part of the Dark Olympus series, intertwining modern romance with Olympian politics. The story, centering around Eurydice Dimitriou, delves into her journey from heartbreak to newfound love with Charon Ariti, Hades's right-hand man. Adding Orpheus Makos to their dynamic adds complexity, showcasing a modern twist on Greek mythology. The story boldly explores love, degradation, and atonement themes, mainly through Orpheus's character arc. As she asserts herself in love and politics, Eurydice's development is particularly engaging. While the novel intriguingly modernizes mythological elements, its abrupt ending left me yearning for more. It's a captivating addition to the series, though it strays from traditional mythological paths.

This was probably one of my favourites for the series.

While a lot of the other stories centre the main couple, this one seemed to really move the plot of the series forward without compromising the main romance in the story, and I found that made for an engaging read. Having dipped in and out of the series previously, this one now has me hooked to read every story.

I liked watching the way connection and different needs between Eurydice, Charon and Orpheus evolved. I particularly enjoy the tension with Eurydice trying to find her place, and the tension between how easy it is to just slip into the shadows and sit comfortably with others underestimating you but having that feel like a bit of a cage at the same time. Watching her come into her power and find her boys while doing it made me happy.

For what it’s worth, through this series I have swapped back and forth between reading and audio. I have been surprised at the way the different medium has impacted my engagement with the story. Cruel Seduction I didn’t work for me that well as audio, but Wicked Beauty I very much did. With Neon Gods, I read it once with eye and once with ears and the experience was pretty similar. This time I read, and it really worked for me. I don’t have any great insight on this, just that it’s worth trying this series in all it’s different formats, you never know what different experience a new medium could unlock.

I enjoyed this story- but it wasn’t my favorite in the series.

The plot had a lot going on and made it hard to keep track of where we were in the story.

Thank you Netgalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for this ARC!

- I think something I have been struggling with this series is how tricky it is to balance the politics/world building, the relationships, and the spice. I think this one was the one that suffered the most because we see Orpheus, Eurydice, and Charon so much in earlier books that it felt like they didn't get enough development in this book before things escalated.
- That being said, I did appreciate the little newspaper recap at the beginning! That helped me a ton!
- This is a pet peeve of mine, but I cannot stand the term "endgame" being used seriously.
- I was impressed by the relationships between the three MCs by the end. I think they needed more development in the first third, but the last two thirds made up for that!
- The reveal at the end does have me really wanting to continue the series!

Charon x Eurydice x Orpheus polyam featuring friends to lovers, second chance, and a fairly heavy handed degradation kink. The strength in this installment is the plot and the spice. If you’re as invested in the Dark Olympus series for its ever evolving plot and political intrigue you’re going to love this. The spice was pretty good too but I truly did not enjoy the relationship side of things. I felt like I opened the book smack in the middle of their relationship as the story opens with Charon and Eurydice professing their love for each other and Orpheus a changed man who would do anything to get Eurydice back - including being her willing sub. I think I was most invested in Orpheus’ burgeoning love for Charon but the rest of the triangle felt just... there. I didn’t buy into their romance and to me, they didn’t really work for it

I love this series so much. Each book gives us so much information and this one does the same!
I was dyinggggg for Eurydice's story and its even better that we get a love triangle (so to speak). THiS BOOK WAS HOT. And also more action packed than expected. I really loved the character development & boy was I ready for Eurydice to grow into her own person & stand up for herself!! Charon was so good for her, and I AM SO HAPPY ORPHEUS CAME AROUND! But the ending ugh I NEED MORE ANSWERS.

I AM READY FOR THE NEXT ONE!!!

Another great Dark Olympus book. Katee Robert is great at what she does and she does it better than anyone else in my opinion.

I have mixed feelings about this book. The books in the Dark Olympus series tend to fall in two extremes, pretty good and wait, what? (ie. Electric Idol and Cruel Seduction, respectively) I found that this book sat comfortably in the middle.

Now, I liked Eurydice. I enjoyed her character development from shy, scared girl to strong woman. I also enjoyed Charon. There’s just something about him that I’ve always had a crush on. And the way he treats Eurydice? Swoon.

Orpheus also has decent character development. However, where was the groveling? My man sold her out to Zeus and was made to crawl and clean the floor once, and now everything is chill? No way. Also, there was an attempt to make Eurydice more dominate and it gave more soft dom, than anything. Overall, though, the smut was pretty good.

The relationship moved way too quickly, too. Like only a few days passed between the start and end of the book. There was definitely love between Eurydice and the MMCs. But, between just Charon and Orpheus, it was just.. lust.

And don’t even get me started about the ending.

I predicted the benefactor for Minos ages ago, so I wasn’t really surprised. But I gotta be honest, I hate the way they treated my girl, Ariadne. Both Persephone and Hades characters were ruined in my eyes because of that.

That does however, excite me for Ariadne and the Minotaur’s book.
