I really enjoyed the writing, as always with Katee Robert. Though, I definitely favored the Charon and Eurydice storyline specifically. Also, the overall plot is really picking up which makes me excited for the rest of the series!

This is part of the Dark Olympus series, intertwining modern romance with Olympian politics. The story, centering around Eurydice Dimitriou, delves into her journey from heartbreak to newfound love with Charon Ariti, Hades's right-hand man. Adding Orpheus Makos to their dynamic adds complexity, showcasing a modern twist on Greek mythology. The story boldly explores love, degradation, and atonement themes, mainly through Orpheus's character arc. As she asserts herself in love and politics, Eurydice's development is particularly engaging. While the novel intriguingly modernizes mythological elements, its abrupt ending left me yearning for more. It's a captivating addition to the series, though it strays from traditional mythological paths.

This was probably one of my favourites for the series.

While a lot of the other stories centre the main couple, this one seemed to really move the plot of the series forward without compromising the main romance in the story, and I found that made for an engaging read. Having dipped in and out of the series previously, this one now has me hooked to read every story.

I liked watching the way connection and different needs between Eurydice, Charon and Orpheus evolved. I particularly enjoy the tension with Eurydice trying to find her place, and the tension between how easy it is to just slip into the shadows and sit comfortably with others underestimating you but having that feel like a bit of a cage at the same time. Watching her come into her power and find her boys while doing it made me happy.

For what it’s worth, through this series I have swapped back and forth between reading and audio. I have been surprised at the way the different medium has impacted my engagement with the story. Cruel Seduction I didn’t work for me that well as audio, but Wicked Beauty I very much did. With Neon Gods, I read it once with eye and once with ears and the experience was pretty similar. This time I read, and it really worked for me. I don’t have any great insight on this, just that it’s worth trying this series in all it’s different formats, you never know what different experience a new medium could unlock.

I enjoyed this story- but it wasn’t my favorite in the series.

The plot had a lot going on and made it hard to keep track of where we were in the story.

Thank you Netgalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for this ARC!

- I think something I have been struggling with this series is how tricky it is to balance the politics/world building, the relationships, and the spice. I think this one was the one that suffered the most because we see Orpheus, Eurydice, and Charon so much in earlier books that it felt like they didn't get enough development in this book before things escalated.
- That being said, I did appreciate the little newspaper recap at the beginning! That helped me a ton!
- This is a pet peeve of mine, but I cannot stand the term "endgame" being used seriously.
- I was impressed by the relationships between the three MCs by the end. I think they needed more development in the first third, but the last two thirds made up for that!
- The reveal at the end does have me really wanting to continue the series!

Charon x Eurydice x Orpheus polyam featuring friends to lovers, second chance, and a fairly heavy handed degradation kink. The strength in this installment is the plot and the spice. If you’re as invested in the Dark Olympus series for its ever evolving plot and political intrigue you’re going to love this. The spice was pretty good too but I truly did not enjoy the relationship side of things. I felt like I opened the book smack in the middle of their relationship as the story opens with Charon and Eurydice professing their love for each other and Orpheus a changed man who would do anything to get Eurydice back - including being her willing sub. I think I was most invested in Orpheus’ burgeoning love for Charon but the rest of the triangle felt just... there. I didn’t buy into their romance and to me, they didn’t really work for it

I love this series so much. Each book gives us so much information and this one does the same!
I was dyinggggg for Eurydice's story and its even better that we get a love triangle (so to speak). THiS BOOK WAS HOT. And also more action packed than expected. I really loved the character development & boy was I ready for Eurydice to grow into her own person & stand up for herself!! Charon was so good for her, and I AM SO HAPPY ORPHEUS CAME AROUND! But the ending ugh I NEED MORE ANSWERS.

I AM READY FOR THE NEXT ONE!!!

Another great Dark Olympus book. Katee Robert is great at what she does and she does it better than anyone else in my opinion.

I have mixed feelings about this book. The books in the Dark Olympus series tend to fall in two extremes, pretty good and wait, what? (ie. Electric Idol and Cruel Seduction, respectively) I found that this book sat comfortably in the middle.

Now, I liked Eurydice. I enjoyed her character development from shy, scared girl to strong woman. I also enjoyed Charon. There’s just something about him that I’ve always had a crush on. And the way he treats Eurydice? Swoon.

Orpheus also has decent character development. However, where was the groveling? My man sold her out to Zeus and was made to crawl and clean the floor once, and now everything is chill? No way. Also, there was an attempt to make Eurydice more dominate and it gave more soft dom, than anything. Overall, though, the smut was pretty good.

The relationship moved way too quickly, too. Like only a few days passed between the start and end of the book. There was definitely love between Eurydice and the MMCs. But, between just Charon and Orpheus, it was just.. lust.

And don’t even get me started about the ending.

I predicted the benefactor for Minos ages ago, so I wasn’t really surprised. But I gotta be honest, I hate the way they treated my girl, Ariadne. Both Persephone and Hades characters were ruined in my eyes because of that.

That does however, excite me for Ariadne and the Minotaur’s book.

Anything by Katee Robert is a must read for me and this was no different. I love the world of Dark Olympus and anytime I get to revisit it and it's people I am excited!!! So good and the spice was so hot!!!! Can't wait to see what happens next!

Fast paced but maybe not as developed as previous books. But the ending definitely left me wanting to know what would happen next!

This is one of the best books she's written by far. Not only did it show how a triangle poly relationship could work but also a different angle to a Dom sub switch relationship. The whole Arc of the relationship and how eurydice handles everything is so extremely delicate and could very easily be written inappropriately. This was done fantastically and is by far my favorite book this year

Katee Robert never disappoints! I didn't think it was possible to fall more in love with this series! This book had the perfect amount of action and spice! I loved that Charon was so understanding of Eurydice's past and gave her the option to get the closure she needed. I loved seeing this new side of Orpheus. I can't wait to see to read Ariadne and the Minotaurs story as well as discover what The Thirteen plan to do about the barrier falling and the new information they learned about Mino's benefactor.

The follow up of Eurydice, Charon, and Orpheus was very welcomed. I felt like I got closure along with Eurydice. The turmoil in Olympus continues and I have no idea how to feel about. The ending leaves you wanting and looking for more pages. The next book cannot come out soon enough Katee provided plenty of spice so check your trigger warnings prior. This is definitely an open door romance. I am looking forward to the rest of the Olympus series and Ariadne’s story!

Where to start with this book...

If you have read this series from book one you know exactly what you're getting into. The spice level is at an all-time high...again. The romance too. Katee Robert has a way with this series of drawing you to want to learn more about Olympus and wish you had paid attention in high school when you went over this subject. From Zeus to Hades to Achilles to Apollo, they all have the goods and I'm here for it.

Eurydice Dimitrious is stepping out from the shadows that her family and ex-boyfriend have cast over her and right into the arms of Charon Ariti. Little do they know that what they think they've found with one another is about more than just the two of them and also involves Orpheus Makos, Eurydice's ex-boyfriend. When love comes shattering down, Olympus might just go with it.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a free copy of Midnight Ruin by Katee Robert in exchange for my honest review.

Being so invested in this series has all the benefits - I want all of the Greek gods' stories please and thank you. Roberts has done it again and kept me so enthralled with Orpheus trying to win his way back into Eurydice's good graces. As usual, this sexiness is smoking hot and exactly what I needed.

Review:

This is book 6 in the Dark Olympus series and y’all … I love this series. However, this one I didn’t love as much as the others. I think it has a lot to do with one of the MMCs, Orpheus.

At the beginning of the series, Orpheus is dating Eurydice (FMC), but then he sells her out to the then Zeus (who was super bad and wanted to hurt Eurydice for his own means). Orpheus claims he didn’t know this, is sorry he’s such a selfish a-hole, isn’t the same person, will make it up to her, etc- blah blah blah. I just feel he’s a wet selfish douchey blanket with zero personality. 🫣. I don’t know.. I just couldn’t forgive him for what he did in book 1. 😂🤷🏼‍♀️

I loved Eurydice and Charon (MMC) though. Their chemistry is 🥵. The smexy scenes were hot, despite the fact that Orpheus was there. 😂🫠 The puppy play was something new to me. While it’s intriguing and I didn’t hate it, I don’t think it’s for me?

I loved that we get to see more of Hades and Persephone from the first book!! They are one of my favorite couples. 🖤

The action and political intrigue was fun to read about and I love how it continues to build as things are coming to a head in Olympus!

I’m really excited to see where this all goes, especially after that ending. 👀🤔

Katee Roberts does it again! We jump back into the world of Olympus following the character development queen, Eurydice. She steps out of the shadows ready to kick ass. Orpheus and Charon was a match I did not expect to like but I loved. This triad's blossoming love makes me forget the ever-looming fear of the faltering barrier and I can't wait to read what's next!

Thank you Netgalley and SOURCEBOOKS Casablanca!

IT WAS SO GOOD. I kept looking at the last page hoping there was more and internally screaming "NO YOU CANT JUST END IT THERE". I LOVED the dynamic between the characters and how all of them - even the ones who weren't the MCs in the story - have progressed and developed throughout the series. The action and political intrigue are deeply compelling as, of course, are the spice scenes. My one complaint is that I'm not a huge fan of how Katee Roberts does character description, but I appreciate how intentional they are about including diversity in their books. But otherwise, amazing book.

I received an ARC from netgalley.

I am nothing if not consistent, and I consistently love Katee Robert’s throuple novels so damn much. Midnight Ruin is phenomenal, I’ve read it twice through before writing this review. If you have not started this series yet I beg you to start with Neon Gods and let yourself be taken away on this rollercoaster of fast-paced political intrigue and toe-curlingly good romance.

Check out my more detailed thoughts below…
Characters: Eurydice, Charon, Orpheus – what a cast of lead characters for this instalment! All the Dimitriou sisters have my heart and so of course I was excited to get into Eurydice’s head. After only seeing her through predominately her sisters’ eyes, I loved getting to know this powerhouse character better. She is not as innocent as what meets the eye, which is perfect. Charon and Orpheus were perfect for her because they both brought something different. Charon
Setting: Back to the underworld baby! We have not had a tried and true Underworld book since Neon Gods, since book one! I was so happy to be back over the River Styx. I know Katee has spoken about how this book was initially third and I am so happy things were switched around to make the long-awaited return to Underworld just hit perfectly!
Pacing: What is so special about Katee and this series is just how well-balanced the political intrigue is against the relationships and the steamy scenes. Every chapter just makes you want to read the next one, and every instalment just ups the stakes in this world!
Romance: Katee proves once again why they are just so damn good at writing throuples. The best triads show how the relationships just work as a group of three, not as pairs. I really liked how this was both a second-chance romance and a friend-to-lovers. So much of this series is more enemies-to-lovers so that was a lovely change of pace, I love when Katee throws in a few curve balls to the romance. The biggest one probably being the puppy play which I know Katee even said online came as a surprise while writing but my god it fits this story so well. Orpheus at his most submissive was the missing piece of the puzzle for Charon and Eurydice. Along with what a great take on that second chance that what made Eurydice and Orpheus not work originally really was that people were not their true authentic selves. So simply I say this book was hot and it gets steamy or should I say foggy rather quickly. A Katee Robert slow burn is fun every once in a while, but Katee is at their best when they write characters with so much tension and chemistry that it drips off the page.
