I absolutely love this series and it’s twist on Greek mythology! The sixth installment follows Eurydice, Charon & Orpheus as more unfolds in the dramatic events around the upper and lower cities of Olympus. I love how inclusive this series is and how each book focuses on different characters as they find their versions of love. Perfect balance of spice and plot.

MIDNIGHT RUIN is the sixth instalment in Katee Robert’s contemporary, adult DARK OLYMPUS dark, erotic romance series-a modern day retelling about the gods and goddesses of Olympus. This is Eurydice Dimitriou, Charon Ariti, and Orpheus Makos’ polyamorous story line. MDNIGHT RUIN should not be read as a stand alone as there is an ongoing premise throughout the series.

NOTE: MIDNIGHT RUIN is a story line focusing on a polyamorous relationship including same $ex situations, multiple partners, domination and submission.

SOME BACKGROUND: Not all is well in Olympus. The barrier between Olympus and the rest of the world is collapsing, and the attacks in the upper city have become dangerous and deadly. The fight for power and control within the ruling circle of Thirteen has resulted in a number of deaths-someone is determined to destroy that which is no longer theirs to control.

Told from three first person perspectives (Eurydice, Charon, Orpheus) MIDNIGHT RUIN follows in the aftermath of the attack on Eurydice, and the fallout of her relationship with Orpheus, the man she once loved. As her best friend, Charon has declared himself Eurydice’s protector but Charon wants something more, something more that will come with an added bonus. The attacks against the Thirteen owned businesses is increasing, and as the man in charge of Olympus, Hades struggles with the possible threats to the woman he loves. What ensues is the building but contemptuous relationship between Eurydice, Charon and Orpheus, and the potential fall-out as the truth reveals the person(s) behind the attacks.

The world building continues to focus on the fight for power and control of Olympus, and the betrayal and vengeance against their own. As each new member of the ruling Thirteen takes over in the wake of another’s death or murder, someone else is waiting in the wings, to take manipulate and dominate into position.

The relationship between Eurydice, Charon and Orpheus begins acrimoniously. Orpheus has never stopped loving the woman he betrayed, and Charon is determined to make Orpheus beg (like a dog) for forgiveness, anyway he demands, and in this I was not a fan of the humiliation inflicted upon Orpheus Makos. Charon struggles with Eurydice’s need for the man who broke her heart but Orpheus is willing to submit for a future with both. The $ex scenes are intimate, provocative and intense.

There is a large ensemble cast of powerful, questionable, and charismatic secondary and supporting characters including Hades and Persephone, Zeus, Perseus, Poseidon, Demeter, Callisto aka Hera, Psyche, and more. The requisite evil has many faces.

MIDNIGHT RUIN is a story of power and control, betrayal and vengeance, murder and mayhem, family and friendships, forgiveness and love. The premise is dramatic and dark; the romance is seductive and erotic; the character are desperate and determined. MIDNIGHT RUIN ends on a bit of a cliff hanger-you have been warned.

I felt like this one ended a little abruptly, but am excited to see the overall arc of the series moving ahead and am glad Eurydice's story was finally told! Looking forward to seeing where the rest of main plot of Dark Olympus goes (and waiting as usual to finally get Perseus and Callisto's book, although sadly I don't think that will be happening for a few more installments if we get it at all).

I LOVE this series!
Each story is a unique take on Greek mythology in the form of a hot AF story, and this book was no exception. I love that each book in this series serves as a continuation of a larger story, but I super appreciate that while each book leaves a lot left unfinished, it’s not leaving us in a true cliffhanger.

I loved the relationship between the 3 MCs and appreciated that their relationship was rooted in trust, repentance, and acceptance. I loved watching each of them grow and change as their relationship developed.

I will say, that I found the overall “meat” of the story to be a bit short, and I definitely ended the book with a general feeling of “that was it?” and wanted to know more about the MCs and how their lives progressed beyond the story’s end.

Overall though, this story was fun to read and got AF. An excellent addition to this series!

I was given an ARC by NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca. All opinions are my own.

I do think Katee Robert is good with chemistry, but I found the romance itself lacking in dimension and the inclusion of the ongoing non-romance plot would be welcome if there wasn't so little of it in each book.

This book really up the action and shows you who some of the hidden protagonist are in who are trying to bring the 13 down in Olympus. Eurydice, Charon and Orpheus complicated relationship which definitely is heading towards a different kind of love is trying to find itself, while the lower city is dealing with the repercussions of the barrier being attacked. It’s interesting to see
Eurydice start to realize who she is and pursue both a new love, Charon while giving an old love, Orpheus another chance. I found Charon to be the perfect linchpin in the relationship and he seemed to sense what the other two needed. I was pleasantly surprised on how I really began to sympathize with Orpheus because he is more complicated and isn’t just the bad guy that we thought he was earlier because of how he treated your dice in the past. I really liked how the relationship was part of the book, but we also found out more about why Olympus is being attacked and how secrets From previous leaders could be the reason for what is happening. I’m looking forward to the next book.

Thank you to NetGalley, Sourcebooks Casablanca, and Ms. Robert for the opportunity to read an ARC of this title. An honest review was requested but not required.

Midnight Ruin seemed rushed to me.

I was actually looking forward to Eurydice's book - not as much as Hera's OBVIOUSLY, but come on, join the club, right? - but I felt that her romantic plot line felt like all sex and very little relationship. She's into Charon, they get together, then Orpheus comes back, he atones, now they're all together, done. There seemed like very little tension in the plot progression with regards to them. Probably because there was so much ELSE going on, with regards to the overall story arc, the politics, the attacks on the Lower City, Ariadne, etc, etc. It seemed like a bit of a foregone conclusion that the MMF triad was together, the end, amen. I would have appreciated a little less time on spicy scenes, iykwim, and a little more time on relationship dynamics or personal growth or dialogue or whatever. I never really got a true connection between Charon and Orpheus other than simple attraction, which is a shame, and Eurydice's connections to either seem too tenuous to be making life-altering decisions. Charon is a much more dynamic male lead than Orpheus too. Frankly I would have been equally happy kicking Orpheus to the curb and having just Charon and Eurydice together, or some other third.

I was happy with the advancement of the overall story. Things have been moving kind of slowly and I appreciated that now they are going with a BANG. I did also like the Hades/Persephone cameos and loved Callisto (Hera)'s visit. Callisto has more charisma than all the rest of her sisters put together and WHY ISN'T HER BOOK READY YET OMG. I assume it's being saved for last, patience is a virtue, good things come to those who wait yada yada 🙄🙄🙄

Even knowing who the people involved in the relationship were going to be, this one was completely unexpected but gloriously perfect. Charon and Eurydice make sense, Eurydice and Orpheus make a different kind of sense, Charon and Orpheus are a total surprise that ends up being perfect, and all three of them make a very hot throuple.
Things between them feel rushed, but it's partly because things are getting up in Olympus and every scene has a sense of urgency and potential danger that carries into their personal time. I would have preferred some more of the slower, personal scenes to help set up the relationship, however, I have to admit that all the rushing and pressure from the bigger plot helps to make everything between the throuple feel sweeter. It's a nice contrast that I appreciate even while wanting for there to be less of it if that makes sense.
The fact that most characters have a name but are actually known by a title which happens to be the name of a real Greek god and everyone is connected to everyone by some of the most complex lines imaginable makes for not-so-fun reading at times. But it's been like that for every book and it might just be that my brain refuses to learn how everyone is connected because the original myths and stories are already in there. It doesn't take away from the individual story but it's making following the major plot from one book to another a little stressful.

Overall, it's a Katee Robert novel so you know that she always delivers on the hot and the excitement. Would I have enjoyed a bit more character development? Yes, definitely. Does it mean the book isn't good because it focuses so much on moving the main series plot? No, it doesn't.

Delighted thanks to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for the confusing yet very hot read!

Book six of the Dark Olympus series, Midnight Ruin, IS HERE! (Thank you NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for an advanced electric copy of this book in exchange for my honest review!)

So two months ago when I closed Cruel Seduction, I was SO READY to have this book in my hands because I had SO. MANY. QUESTIONS! And some of those questions we/I got answers for in this book! Some of the mystery behind amino’s has been revealed, and yet, we have so much more to learn 😅

But also, I’ve been so curious about Eurydice’s character since the events in Neon Gods. Her storyline, plus her poly relationship with Charon and Orpheus was so good in this book and written beautifully. (Katee Robert’s had the perfect balance of spice and plot in these books!)

But now we have to wait til August to learn more of Ariadne & the Minotaur. I couldn’t be more excited!

Final rating: 4.25⭐️, 3.5🌶️

Eurydice, Charon, and Orpheus burn up the pages in the latest installment of this unique series. Things are coming to a head in Olympus and I can't wait to see how things play out! The romance is complicated, steamy, and sexy. I was so excited for Eurydice to have her story told and this exceeded expectations.

Charon, Eurydice, and Orpheus have been a part of this series from the beginning, and it was refreshing to finally see the world from the youngest Dimitriou’s perspective. She’s been through so much since Neon Gods, and it was a breath of fresh air to realize how much she’s grown in that time. We’ve also seen Charon throughout the other books, and I’ve been fascinated with his character since day one. I love a strong, silent type, and I was beyond excited to find out he’d be getting his own book.

However, one of the biggest questions I had going into this book was how the hell Katee would get us to fall in love with Orpheus. Almost every character has bashed him at one point or another, and Eurydice is so easy to love, it’s not like it was hard to be on her side. But I should’ve known better because Katee pulled off the impossible. I don’t gravitate toward polyamorous relationships, but time and time again, she has gotten me to fall in love with this dynamic.

If you’re into second-chance romances, you’ll love Orpheus and Eurydice. There is a ton of groveling, which comes in the form of puppy play. Meanwhile, Charon acts the part of her bodyguard, working to navigate that line between being overprotective and allowing her space to heal from her wounds. The three of them grow as individuals at the same time they grow as a group, and it was extremely satisfying to witness.

I fell in love with these books because Katee writes exactly the kind of spicy scenes I like to read, but the plot has kept me coming back again and again. The stakes are higher than ever, and there is more than one close call that will have you holding your breath in fear and anticipation. We also get the answer to a very big question by the end of this book, and I’m even more excited to learn what it means for the rest of the series. (Oh, and if you haven't read the Stone Heart novella, I recommend doing that before diving into Midnight Ruin!)

Eurydice has always been protected first by her siblings and recently by Charon though she wishes he would be more for her than a sturdy protector. As she pushes their boundaries he is hard pressed to stick to his guns but can their feelings for eachother help her work past her troubles with Orpheus?

In true form for Robert there is an exciting twist around every page and drama continues to threaten Olympus as Minos' plans continue to be unveiled bit by bit. Danger is on the horizon for the remaining members of the Thirteen with new info come to light on how to gain entry to these exclusive ranks.

I really enjoy this book and the series. This book is one of the top books in the series. The characters and their development was done beautifully, and it was gut, wrenching, and so overwhelmingly immersive. I highly recommend people to read this book and the series. The couple, in this book was one of the top couples because you truly understand their feelings, and where they got to the situations. The spice was immaculate, very spicy, but also very believably spicy.

Midnight Ruin💔

Eurydice has been staying in the lower city for the last year after her split from Orpheus. She’s become close friends with Charon but has felt an attraction towards him that’s never been reciprocated….until now😳

To make matters worse, Eris enlisted Eurydice to help her get information to help Olympus by befriending Ariadne, which unfortunately means putting herself at risk. With the upper city in chaos and assassination attempts against the Thirteen..it appears danger is starting to descend on the lower city and indirect attacks on Hades…as Eurydice, Charon and Orpheus fight to make their relationship work and find out how they fit together, they also need to fight the unknown dangers too😬

I look forward to Ariadne’s book next😍 I received an advanced copy via Netgalley and willingly leave my honest opinion. Thank you to the publisher and the author for the opportunity to read this book❣️

This may be one of the best of the Dark Olympus books I’ve read so far. The character development and the spicy scenes were some of my favorites.

I have been obsessed with the Dark Olympus series and Katee Robert’s writing since I read Neon Gods. When I was offered an ARC of book 6 I was SO excited.

Midnight Ruin did NOT disappoint! I absolutely loved the way she wrote the tension and chemistry between the three of them. As a polyamorous person myself, I usually find poly representations in books to not be accurate. This was IT though.

This might be my favorite paring of the series so far, just behind Psyche and Eros.

If you’re looking for best friends to lovers, second chance romance and LOTS of groveling this is the book for you.

Thank you to NetGalley, Katee Robert and Sourcebooks Casablanca for the ARC.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️.💫/5 (3.5 Stars)
Steam: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️/5 (very steamy, lots of scenes with graphic description)

Thanks to Netgalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for the advanced digital copy in exchange for my honest review.

No spoiler review 👇🏻

I won’t be going into the plot much in this review. This is book 6 in the “Dark Olympus” series, and the books need to be read in order.

This was a great entry to this series. I love Katee Robert as she writes such inclusive and spicy romances.

I enjoy this series for the spice, and political drama of the city of Olympus. I enjoyed the development of the story more in this one than the last, however I didn’t enjoy the romantic relationship as much. So balance it out at 3.5 stars for me. That’s more of my own preference and no reflection on the author or people that enjoy this. I just found that the spicy scenes were a little much for me, and I’m not a huge fan of second chance romances to begin with anyways. Though I enjoyed the side characters, and seeing some past couples from the books. As well as getting to see the plot really develop.

This book is very spicy and I wouldn’t recommend it unless you are used to reading very spicy books. It’s a MMF romance, but contains a lot of degradation in the spicy scenes and I found it’s just not for me. If you like this, that's awesome, to each their own. Overall it was a good entry to this series and I look forward to continuing this series. I’m interested to see more development of Olympus in the next book.

Katee Robert does it again!!!! The relationships, the drama, THE INTRIGUE!!!!! All of these things grow with each book honestly.
This is the story of the last of Dimitriou daughters, Eurydice. In the previous books she was a background character, she was just the youngest sister being protected by her older siblings. But in this book she finds herself by finding out her wants, needs and desires. She also finds what role she plays in the politics of the book. I know some people could care less about the politics but trust me, the tension is ramping up and honestly in this book it came to an almost eruption. The romance was great as always, I loved the dynamic between Eurydice, Charon and Orpheus.
This book gets 4.5 starts just because there was some lagging in some parts where there was literally nothing happening. This book is well worth the read though and I cannot recommend it enough!!!

Midnight Ruin is the next and sixth instalment of Katee Robert's Dark Olympus series. A series which from the beginning highlights the lives, secrets and darkness of its citizens and of the 'Thirteen'. It takes the names we know who are woven into Greek myth, shakes things up a bit, and re-tells their story through a fresh set of eyes.

The series kicked things off with an extremely strong and promising start, thanks to Neon Gods and its main characters of Hades and Persephone. Two names we know well whose story gets a gritty, lip-biting and seductive re-telling. It wasn't long before our twosome became a foursome with the next instalment, Electric Idol, with four more books and even more characters following in their wakes. The series so far and their characters are as follows:

💙 𝑁𝑒𝑜𝑛 𝐺𝑜𝑑𝑠 (𝐻𝑎𝑑𝑒𝑠 𝑥 𝑃𝑒𝑟𝑠𝑒𝑝ℎ𝑜𝑛𝑒)
🩷 𝐸𝑙𝑒𝑐𝑡𝑟𝑖𝑐 𝐼𝑑𝑜𝑙 (𝐸𝑟𝑜𝑠 𝑥 𝑃𝑠𝑦𝑐ℎ𝑒)
💚 𝑊𝑖𝑐𝑘𝑒𝑑 𝐵𝑒𝑎𝑢𝑡𝑦 (𝐴𝑐ℎ𝑖𝑙𝑙𝑒𝑠 𝑥 𝐻𝑒𝑙𝑒𝑛 𝑥 𝑃𝑎𝑡𝑟𝑜𝑐𝑙𝑢𝑠)
❤️ 𝑅𝑎𝑑𝑖𝑎𝑛𝑡 𝑆𝑖𝑛 (𝐴𝑝𝑜𝑙𝑙𝑜 𝑥 𝐶𝑎𝑠𝑠𝑎𝑛𝑑𝑟𝑎)
💜 𝐶𝑟𝑢𝑒𝑙 𝑆𝑒𝑑𝑢𝑐𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 (𝐻𝑒𝑝ℎ𝑎𝑒𝑠𝑡𝑢𝑠 𝑥 𝐴𝑝ℎ𝑟𝑜𝑑𝑖𝑡𝑒 + 𝐴𝑑𝑜𝑛𝑖𝑠 𝑥 𝑃𝑎𝑛𝑑𝑜𝑟𝑎)
🖤 𝑀𝑖𝑑𝑛𝑖𝑔ℎ𝑡 𝑅𝑢𝑖𝑛 (𝑂𝑟𝑝ℎ𝑒𝑢𝑠 𝑥 𝐸𝑢𝑟𝑦𝑑𝑖𝑐𝑒 𝑥 𝐶ℎ𝑎𝑟𝑜𝑛)

If you want to know who will be appearing in the next instalments in the series, I highly recommend browsing Katee's Instagram or sign up to her newsletter. She keeps us firmly informed of what's going on and her edit's graphics are worth taking a gander on.

For those of you who, like me, have followed the journey of the characters as the world around them in Olympus starts to change, you'll know where we are up to now that Midnight Ruin has landed in our laps. Things took a turn for the intriguing and curious with this book's predecessor, Cruel Seduction leaving us with plenty of questions that would subsequent be answered here. Pieces of the puzzle are slowly slotting into place and with this latest piece, the puzzle is semi-complete. I say semi because the game is only just getting started now that the mask has slipped--when you know, you know--, it could be dismantle and required to be put back together again.

And we've got the trio to do the job. With Orpheus, Eurydice and Charon, we're back with a trio as our main characters who are steering the story. A first since reading Wicked Beauty. If you could handle the awesome foursome before this, you're ready for your second threesome because these three work and they work SO well. The dynamic between the three is up there with my favourite couples in the whole series, and seeing their broken nature, healing and growth was very rewarding as a reader.

If you're a fan of previous characters in the other five books, fear not! You're in luck. As things get deeper and darker for the city on the other side of the river, we see a return here and there with a few familiar and beloved faces. Though their stories are over in the way of their own individual books, they are still all very important players in the long-running game that is being played with them all as disposable pawns. Namely, one lord of the underworld and his wife. They set the bar high as previously mentioned, and come back to be very important side-characters to support the story of Orpheus, Eurydice and Charon.

We've been lucky to see these three appear here and there in other books in the series, which gave us glimpses of who we think they and their characters would be like. We've all had previous opinions about them based on first appearances and mentions, but here in Midnight Ruin is where their true personalities and personas come out to play amongst all the chaos. They might surprise you, they may not, but there's no doubting the brilliance of each of them as individuals and as a threesome. I have a personal favourite out of the three, to no one's surprise. It will be interesting to see if people think the same as me or if they don't, who their favourite(s) will be.

Things in this novel are as dark as they ever have been throughout the whole series so far. The once tight-woven nature of the city is slowly coming undone--much to the surprise of some--, and things truly can only get worse before hopefully getting better. I have a feeling that 'dark' is going to be the darkest of the dark. The kind where all hope is more than lost, kind of dark. Something we can fully invest ourselves in as readers and hope for that sweet, sweet light at the end of the tunnel. Orpheus, Eurydice and Charon and the events that play out for and around them take us that one step further into the darkened tunnel. Are you all ready to go deeper?

Though I would have personally liked a little less description between events which could have been cut out--having no impact on the overall story--, this did not take away from myself enjoying every word written by an author as awe-inspiring as the stories she writes. From the romance, the broad inclusion of LGBTQIA+ and genius re-telling of centuries-old figures, there's nothing not to love about Midnight Ruin in a series which as fast-cemented itself as one of the best I have ever had the pleasure of reading.

Lapping up every word until the very last page, I was sad to say a fond farewell to this unique trio but was left fully satisfied with what they have left in their wake. The ending--much to my relief--was not a cliffhanger but left things nicely for the next book, Dark Restraint to pick up in August later this year.

Until then, I look forward to the next payday when I plan to splurge on a few books to add to my collection on my bookcase. Midnight Ruin being among the chosen few. Another Katee Robert title to add to my shelf is always welcome and seeing her books grow on my shelves with each release is something I will never, ever tire of.

If you're looking for something that you will not only be fully invested in now, but for the long-haul in each year to come? This is the author and series for you.

One of my new favorite Katee Robert’s reads! There’s a lot of sympathy to be had for Eurydice’s backstory in terms of the heartbreak and betrayal when we meet her with in book 1 of the series to now, being the youngest and sheltered sibling. To say I’m OBSESSED with Charon is the least I can say about it. Starting in book 4 I was READY for their story to play out. But what surprised me what the groveling with Orpheus. The love triangle is unique and NOT cliche which was so refreshing. This series is amping up!

Thank you Netgally and Sourcebooks for the E-ARC!
