This is the second Chelsea Ichaso book I have read and yet another one that I loved! This is the type of book that will keep you on your toes, is hard to put down, and when you're not reading about it you will surely be thinking about what may happen next! I will admit it took me a few chapters to get into, but once I was hooked it was a great read! This book is mysterious, thrilling, raw, and reel! The last thing I will say is, I did NOT see the end coming!

"From the author of Dead Girls Can't Tell Secrets and They're Watching You, a compelling new thriller!
Last summer, they searched for Audrey Covington.
This summer, they'll search for the truth.
Paige Redmond has always felt lucky to spend her summers in Clearwater Ridge, with lazy days sunning at the waterfalls and nights partying at the sprawling houses of the rich families who vacation there. The Covingtons are one of these families, and beautiful, brilliant Audrey Covington is Paige's best friend. And last year, when Audrey's crush-worthy brother Dylan finally started noticing Paige, she was sure it would be the best summer ever.
Except Audrey didn't seem quite like herself. Then one night, she didn't come home. Though Audrey wasn't the first girl to disappear in Clearwater Ridge, she left behind more lies than clues. Now, one summer later, her case has gone cold, and nobody, least of all Paige, can make sense of what happened.
When Paige stumbles across a secret hidden in Audrey's room, however, it changes everything she thought she knew about last summer. She and Dylan set out on their own investigation, discovering things even the police don't know about the people of Clearwater Ridge. But tracking down missing girls - girls who might be beyond saving by now - means entering a world far darker than Paige has ever imagined. And if she isn't careful, she'll become the next girl to vanish."
I love the Lolitaness of the cover.

This book really kept me guessing until the end. I didn’t see that ending coming. The author weaves a complex story, where every person could be guilty. There are a lot of people involved and at times I started having trouble keeping them all straight. Though each person plays an important role in how the story evolves.
There are chapters in the book titled, The Girl, that really kept me on the edge of my seat. I had so many guesses about who the girl could be. I thought it was a great addition to the book.
There is also a blooming romance between two people that added a bit of fun to the otherwise heavy story.
If you are looking for a compulsive thriller with a touch of summer romance, then I definitely recommend picking this book up!

Thank you NetGalley for providing this digital ARC.
3 Stars
This was a solid YA thriller and if I was 16 I would have most likely given it 5 stars. There were enough twists and turns to keep the story entertaining, the side love story and struggle of friendship was a welcome inclusion. The main character was a little annoying and I feel like was made to seem older and more mature that she was, but actually came off as a bit of a tattletale. I know it was to make her unique and quirky, but I just didn't enjoy it very much. I do wish there was just a little bit more backstory on the two towns featured other than this is where the rich kids are here is where the poor people live, it was a townies vs rich vibe but not super well developed.

I would categorize this as a relatively quick and light YA thriller read. The plot is not overly engrossed in character development, very little teenage angst, and pretty minor romance scenes. This book would be perfect for a rainy day or beach setting and easily digestible in one or two days.
Paige and her family summer with their wealthy family friends, the Covingtons, in Clearwater Ridge. While here, Paige spends her time at the river or local parties with her best friend Audrey and crushing on Audrey’s older brother Dylan. The setting seems ideal, but the town is really divided between the “vacationers” and the “locals”. One summer a girl goes missing and the town seems to let it go as she was a local that was known for her cons. But when Audrey goes missing the locals seem on edge and the vacationers begin to think something more nefarious is at play.
Paige and Dylan take up the investigation into Audrey’s disappearance a year later during their next summer together. With a little minor sleuthing they begin to untangle a web of lies and deceptions along with a possible link to the two missing girls.
I enjoyed this read, there were a few impractical parts, but overall, a good YA thriller. The twist was well done and added a level of surprise. My one critique would be on the chapters labeled “The Girl”. These felt a bit awkward for a POV and really amounted to nothing notable in the end.

A real easy read that you didn’t have too think too hard about, easy to follow the storyline. A real page turner.
My only criticism is it feels the ending was slightly rushed. But other than that, I really would recommend

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to review this book.
Paige thinks it's going to be the best summer of her life. She gets to hang out with Audrey, her best friend, and maybe this year, things with Audrey's brother, Dylan, will stop seeing her as his little sister's best friend. As she and Dylan get closer, she doesn't really notice Audrey pulling away. And then she goes missing. A year later, Dylan and Paige team up to discover what really happened, and
I enjoyed this book. I liked the pacing and the plot. I thought that there were enough twists and turns to keep it interesting and engaging. It was just a good, fun read!

Paige Redmond has always enjoyed spending her summers in Clearwater Ridge with her best friend Audrey Covington’s family. However, last summer was different. Audrey was not herself and spent most of the summer alone. Then, one night Audrey didn’t come home. This summer, Paige and Audrey’s older brother Dylan are determined to find out what happened to Audrey once and for all.
While the blurb of this book sounded interesting, it fell a little flat for me. Most of the twists were pretty predictable. Also, the ending and resolution of who killed Audrey were rushed and seemed completely out of left field. Probably the most disappointing of all was the lack of character development. Paige's quirks seemed a little forced at times. I didn’t find myself loving any of the characters or their relationships with each other. Overall, I’m giving it 3/5 stars. It was a decent read, but a little too predictable for my taste.

The Summer She Went Missing is a haunting mystery that keeps readers guessing until the final pages. Chelsea Ichaso's young adult novel tackles the disturbing subject of disappeared girls in the seemingly idyllic small town of Clearwater Ridge.
Protagonist Paige Redmond returns to Clearwater Ridge a year after her best friend, Audrey Covington, mysteriously vanished. Hoping to move on from the tragedy, Paige instead finds herself drawn back into the case when she discovers secrets in Audrey's room that suggest her friend had been hiding a dark double life.
Teaming up with Audrey's older brother Dylan, with whom Paige has a budding summer romance, Paige sets out to find answers about what really happened to the missing girls. Her investigation leads her into the seedy underbelly of this vacation community, revealing that no place is truly safe and people are not always what they seem.
Ichaso maintains a brisk pace while still allowing time for quieter moments of grief, confusion and dawning dread. The plot twists keep coming as Paige unravels lie after lie in search of the truth. Vivid descriptions of the natural beauty of the waterfalls juxtapose sharply against the evil lurking beneath the surface.
Ichaso offers an emotional gut punch. Paige is a compelling heroine who finds reserves of courage and conviction she didn't know she had. And the missing girls, though we only know them in flashbacks, feel achingly real in their hopes for the future before their lives were cut short by unspeakable violence.

This was great! This was YA mystery at its finest and super enjoyable for someone in her late 30s...nowhere near the YA age demographic.
I enjoyed the plot, the story, the characters and the way the suspense was built up.
Totally recommend when you're in the mood for YA!

Wow! For a YA thriller book, I was pleasantly surprised. I was hooked from the very beginning (which can be fairly unusual for me) & kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the entire story! I think this is a perfect thriller for younger audiences just diving into the genre.
Thank you NetGalley, SourceBooks Fire & Chelsea Ichaso for the opportunity to read this ARC.

4 solid stars. This book kept me on the edge of my seat. No comments other than I didn't want to put it down!
I was given an Advanced Reader Copy by NetGalley for an honest review.

Another win for YA mystery. This book had me hooked from beginning to end. I loved the idea of Paige not being there all year and almost an outsider trying to unravel the mystery. I loved the dynamic between Paige and Dylan as well. Every revelation had me second guessing what I thought was going on.

Thank you netgalley and Sourcebooks Fire for allowing me to read this book. I enjoyed reading this book. This was so damn good. I loved the plot twist.

What a fantastic YA thriller from Chelsea Ichaso, it kept me enthralled after a somewhat slow start.
The plot surrounds missing teenage girls and we follow Paige searching for her summer best friend Audrey with her summer BF and Audrey’s brother Dylan. Heavy on the mystery, light on the romance likeable believable protagonists..
A well told story and without doubt a recommended 4.5 read.
Thanks to Netgalley and SOURCEBOOKS Fire for an ARC of this book in return for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this! This was such a good mystery/thriller. The characters were very unique. I’m glad that the plot had a little bit of romance and it wasn’t the whole story line. I couldn’t put this book down and now I can’t wait for the next book by Ichaso!

The Summer She Went Missing by @chelseaichaso was the first 5 star read I have read in such a long time. I loved this story and this twist was so so good. I love a good YA book and this was a treat, highly recommend. This one will be released on March 5, 2024. I would suggest going into this one blind because it will make it all so much better! I will be reading everything else this author writes now!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this book.
Loved this thrilling story involving a hard to solve mystery. It was full of suspence and many twists and turns that had me changing conclusions many times.
Paige is a fantastic character and I just fell in love with her.
Devoured this book in less than a day.
Highly recommend.

For some odd reason there seemes to be a slew of books that have Girls being abducted and forced into dark areas. This is the third one I have read this month. Two were ARC's, one just released this month. Why? anyhow this one was good. The drama was not intense especially for someone missing but I still enjoed the bookit was an easy read.

This is a fun fusion of A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder and The Summer I Turned Pretty and I enjoyed it a lot! The writing was very digestible and the plot was easy to follow. I thought the inclusion of different points of view was very well executed.
While I feel like at times the story was a bit predictable, there were still some twists that threw me for a loop. Overall very enjoyable and fun and with enough twists to keep you guessing!
