This was outrageous, hilarious, and perfect. Not a thing to criticize. Loved every second and I'm going to buy a copy for my coffee table at home so my guests will read it when I take too long in the bathroom.

This was a fantastic and hilariously unexpected book on poetry. I often found myself laughing
out loud!

A wonderful coffee table book as a conversation started piece, an a amazing house warming gift, or holiday/secret Santa gift with the upcoming holiday season right around the corner.

Not Today Satan (Maybe Tomorrow) made me laugh out loud so many times. Shaffer's sense of humor shines in this collection of poetry. This is the first book I have read by this author and it made me want to read his other books! I can't wait to recommend this title to other readers and friends! If you need a good laugh, read this book. It won't disappoint.

A cute book with cute/bad little Illustrations.
These are short hilarious and sometimes raunchy poems on topics ranging from relationships, Pumpkin spice, to Pop culture references, and even features some calligrams!
It would make a really cute gift!

last time I read a poetry book by this author it quickly became one of my favourite poetry Books. So I was really looking forward to this one.

full of dark and dry humour what's not to love. so if you're a fan of that humour you win love this book. It's just a fun read.

I was given a copy of this book from Netgally for an honest review

That was fucking awful. I loved it.
Literally makes so little sense that it's actually so fucking hilarious. Actually had me laughing out loud.

Poetry for people to find poetry haughty. This collection has humor, wit, and a little fun alongside a snarky take on modern poetry. It's very short and perfect for people who love the obscure, and relish in being the weird one.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read “Not Today Satan (Maybe Tomorrow) in exchange for an honest review!

Now I don’t read much poetry, but this was my kind of poetry. It was such fun satirical comedy (and art lol). This was a really fun read before bed, easy to read in one sitting.

Here are some of my favourites:

- in the twilight
- the merchant of Venice beach
-never stop learning

Personally I think the merchant of Venice beach was my favourite, that I really got a kick out of that one. This book is out already, so I highly recommend for anyone looking for a quick laugh. Also I feel like I would have absolutely loved this when I was in university, dreading all of the studying. It is a really really fun book!

Thanks again for the opportunity to read and review!

Ummm, what was that I just read??? Quick read, irreverent, silly and very, very funny. Andrew Shaffer has a very strange sense of humor! My thanks to NetGalley & the publisher ... for the laughs!

The poems are clever and funny, though they reminded more of "Deep Thoughts by Jack Handey" than poetry. There are definitely some chuckles here, but the book seems slight for the price.

This is not your conventional poetry book and, honestly, I loved it. It's very different from what I usually read, and I didn't really knew what I was getting myself into until I began reading this book. It's very easy to read, you can read it in a couple of hours, and it's super funny. I'ts basically humour in the form of poetry. I enjoyed reading this book. I just wished it was longer. (It even mentioned Twilight, Backstreet Boys and Lana Del Rey, I loved it haha) Rating: 3,5 / 5 stars.

Not Today, Satan (Maybe Tomorrow) is a short and hilarious collection of poems that are not meant to be taken too seriously. This book made me actually laugh out loud. Some of the poems are a bit absurd and clearly just for laughs. This is not a book for those easily offended, but if you enjoy some sassy/snarky humor, this is a fun one. Also, the cover is the best. ARC provided by Publisher via NetGalley.

Not Today, Satan (Maybe Tomorrow) is the cutest little book of poetry and I don't even like poetry. Though, in all honesty, I'm not sure Andrew Shaffer does either after reading this. No wonder I enjoyed it.

This is not a book to be taken seriously. Just look at the cover and title. This is a book where the authors sole purpose is to make his readers smile and in that regard this was a success.

One of my favorites I'll include as an example and then you can decide if you want to spend 30 minutes of your time reading this:

review of "the subtle art of not giving a f*ck

I have long been puzzled by this book -
if you truly "didn't give a fuck,"
you wouldn't use an asterisk
in the fucking title,
would you?

😂

Thank you to NetGalley and 8th Circle for my complimentary copy.

Honestly, I didn't really enjoy this book. Silly but unfortunately not funny in my opinion - sorry! I wouldn't read any more of these books.

Do you thrive off being a sarcastic bitch like I do?
Do you like poetry, actually scratch that…Can you even read?

If you answered yes to both of the above questions, you need to go read Andrew Schaffer’s newest collection ‘Not today Satan (maybe tomorrow). Not only is his sarcasm on point but his dark humor had me laughing out loud and smiling well I read the entire thing in one sitting. Remember my first question, well then you should know that me, being a bitch, means I don’t laugh and smile at anybody that much. The “but also fine if you’re into toxic human garbage” line sold me on this book completely…and that’s in the second poem! So I’ll also say that reviewing poetry was a bit offbrand for me but well browsing #Netgalley aimlessly, because I have an addiction and don’t need to add more books to my plate. I saw this cover and title and it’s screamed to me “this is your soulmate in a book, read me or die unhappy” I requested it(yesterday). I loved it so much I’m here trying to convince you to read it and cuz you know you’ll love it too. It’s very simple poetry, stylistically and easy reading level but for me poetry is all about an emotional and personal connection and this was it! Now I’m mad I didn’t ask for the horror poetry book egalley when I saw it. I didn’t know what my heart was going to be missing, now that I do I’m devastated!

Not Today, Satan is an engaging and often humorous poetry collection by Andrew Shaffer. Released 5th Sept 2023, it's 112 pages and is available in hardcover, paperback, and ebook formats. It's worth noting that the ebook format has a handy interactive table of contents as well as interactive links and references throughout. I've really become enamored of ebooks with interactive formats lately. For Kindle Unlimited subscribers, this book is included in the KU subscription library to borrow and read for free.

This is a fun, occasionally campy, often tongue-in-cheek collection of short poems and drawings. The subjects range from current and recent cultural commentary (the Twilight franchise, for example) to the meaning of life and absurdity of existence.

This would be a good choice for folks who "usually don't read poetry". It's anything but pretentious and the author has a good grasp of free verse and arrangement. There are small line drawings scattered throughout.

Four stars. Well done and enjoyable. Readers should note that the author does not hold back from using colorful language and there are a number of examples of curse words sprinkled throughout the poems in the collection. As such, it might not be a good choice for school library acquisition, but should be fine for public library collections, home use, and gift giving.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.

I normally don't read poem books but this cover drew me in, & I'm so happy I did. I loved it! It was hilarious, needed a good laugh. Catches you off guard, it makes you feel like you'll see what's coming but you don't! Can't wait to read more from this author!
