Reminded me of a stand up comedy show , but in poetry form. Some of the poems I was like wtf even is this, and some I chuckled a bit at.

I really enjoyed this book of poetry and was not expecting to enjoy it as much as I did. I have not really read books of poetry that hint more at humor. However, I was laughing out loud and enjoyed the book as individual poems and as an entire piece of work.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for providing me with an ARC to review!

4 stars!

Not gonna lie, the title is the first thing that drew me in, THEN the cover, THEN the description, and I'm so glad I went for it.

I loved this. It had the right level of humor, sarcasm, and satire - all of them go hand in hand lol but I really liked this and happy to find a poet / author that I will definitely check out!

If you want to read some poetry with humor, have a little giggle, then give this a go!

This book was so enjoyable! It was a quick read with lots of ironically sharable poems.
"Only God Can Judge Me" made me snarf out loud, and might be one I'd print out or copy and put on my wall, and "writing advice" will surely do numbers among the authors I know.
I kept forgetting I was reading a PDF and double clicking the screen to favorite poems. Instead, I just have a handful of bookmarks in my Shelf app now. The illustrations were lovely--they're the only place I could see room for improvement as they probably could have been more plentiful. I would have loved some visual jokes to go along with the humor of the poems themselves.

The cover art is catchy and fun, I'd probably purchase a physical copy for my shelf even if I'd bought it in e-form already.

A chaotic, unhinged collection of poems that speak to the absurdity of being alive. With references to Twilight, a hilarious correspondence with The Paris Review this book is packed with so much laugh out one liners.

A collection of hilarious poems by Andrew Shaffer. This collection of poems of laugh out loud material that is not for the faint of heart. Packed with satire and adult humor sure to make anyone with a real sense of humor who enjoys poetry, sketched artwork, alcohol and strong adult themed humor this is the poetry book for you. My personal favorites were “ a few words of advice” talking about Spider-Man advice and “review of “the subtle art of not giving a f*ck””, his review of that is the same as mine! Great minds. Lol.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.

Like his earlier book Look Mom I’m a Poet (and So Is My Cat), this book contains funny short poems that remind me of Jack Handey's Deep Thoughts. I laughed quite a bit though not as much as I did with the earlier book.

This was quite something! I enjoyed most of the poems. Very unhinged in the best way. I'll definitely be reading more from this author

With such a catchy cover, how could I not pick this up? And I wasn't disappointed. This was a quick but hilarious read that had me chuckling. I look forward to more from the author.

If you enjoy wry and self-deprecating humour, this book is for you.

***Thank you to Netgalley, Andrew Shaffer and 8th circle for the ARC. Opinions are my own***

DAMN. i was it expecting to laugh out loud for over half this book. the drawings, and the tongue-in-cheek humor really did me in. This is a book for the friend who has everything by you want to get them something different but useful. I feel like if David Sedaris and Demetri Martin had a baby, it would be Andrew Shaffer. I can’t wait to read his other works.

Twilight, Lana Del Rey, Sausage Lover’s Supreme Pizza… What more could you ask for?

I don’t read much poetry, but the title and cover caught my attention and I’m SO glad it did. These poems had me laughing the whole way through. I couldn’t stop flipping to the next one and just had to read them all in one sitting. I alsoloved the drawings throughout the pages.

This is definitely a book I have to have a physical copy of on my shelf to share with friends and reread myself!

This collection of poems and drawings (masterpieces each and every one!) is an absolute treat! I laughed, I snorted, I rolled my eyes and I shared with my friends. “You are not a mermaid” is my favourite, it cracked me up!
If you have a sarcastic sense of humour or any sense of humour, I highly recommend this book, it is snarky and funny and wonderful!
Now if you will excuse me I am going to find more poems by Andrew Shaffer.

I kind of have a love-hate relationship with poetry collections, because they either are way too try-hard (looking at you gabbie hannah…) or they’re just some over-analysis that a pretentious English major would turn in for a grade. I like a balance between the two, so that it’s relatable enough but not too slapstick or cringe.

For the most part, I enjoyed this collection a lot. The poems made me smile and even laugh out loud at times, and it was really true to the little description that called the book something fresh for people who are tired of shitty Instagram poetry. Now. that felt like a personal dig, because I hate Instagram poetry that’s straight-up bad. Half the time it sounds like it’s written by a twelve year old that’s having these deep revelations for the first time and doesn’t have the right vocabulary to express such emotions. (Clearly I am speaking from experience here).

I do admit that at times this collection veered into Gabbie Hannah territory (sorry) but luckily for the most part the poems weren’t too cringe, and actually made me laugh and amused me. The drawings helped with this a lot; they were really funny and the mockery of the simple line work art sprinkled throughout shitty fake-deep poetry books was a good reference.

I think that this sort of “vulgar” and honest poetry is something that we need more of in the world. I’m sick of shitty Instagram poetry and stuff that’s just way too deep for what it really is. I want honesty, and that’s what this is.

Lastly, I just wanted to say that I too did not know that Flo Rida’s name was supposed to be “Florida” because he’s from Miami. It seems obvious, but I just never put two and two together. Thanks for educating me, Andrew Shaffer.

Thank you to Netgalley, 8th Circle, and Andrew Shaffer for the ARC!

Sometimes I get so bored by poetry. This collection plays on tropes of modern poetry but turns into something funny, sarcastic, and truly Xillenial humor. I didn't know who this author was until this collection, but I'm probably going to check out more of his work. His sense of humor had me chuckling through every poem.

I received this book for free to review by NetGalley.

I did not like this title at all unfortunately, some of the poems made me smile at best but most of them were downright boring to me.

Thank You to 8th Circle, Andrew, and NetGalley for providing this advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review!

A book of poetry where every single one is a hit?! Each had me laughing or nodding my head in agreement, I now want to read everything Andrew Shaffer has ever written!

A fun little book that you can easily zoom through in one sitting. I usually don't enjoy poems in this format, but I did have a great time reading this. Of course in order to enjoy it I think you have to go into it without much criticism and just enjoy the book for what it is. Also I have to mention that the cover is adorable.

This is a quick, fun read that will make you chuckle. I love the title and the cover as well. As someone who is not into modern poetry, I enjoyed this light collection.
