Under the sunny Las Vegas skies, Crissy Dowling perfects her act, the façade she hides behind. With her look-a-like features, short blonde hairstyle, British accent and carefully copied wardrobe, she is Princess Diana. And her audience of aging boomers who remember that hopeful 1981 wedding fill her two shows a night at the Buckingham Palace, a dilapidated casino off the strip. Then her sister Betsy calls to announce her move from Vermont to Las Vegas. Since the estranged sisters last spoke, Betsy has adopted a thirteen year old daughter, found a new not quite divorced boyfriend and abandoned her career as a social worker to work in cryptocurrency. It’s a lot to take in and it becomes more upsetting for Crissy when Betsy begins to copy Crissy/Diana’s looks. It will become more upsetting as a maybe Russian Oligarch, the mob and a gun crazed, perhaps illiterate Congresswoman running for Senate get involved.
The multilayered Princess of Las Vegas is impossible to describe. Part mystery, part satire, it is full of drama, humor and sorrow. And always in the background is sunny, slightly seedy Las Vegas because this story could not have taken place anywhere else. 5 stars.
Thank you to NetGalley, Doubleday Books and Chris Bahamian for this ARC.

This book is the most original thriller I have had the chance to read in a long time! The story of a princess Diana impersonator and her estranged sister becoming embroiled in a murder investigation is extremely well written and literally spellbinding! Highly recommended!

Chris Bohjalian has written another winning novel in The Princess of Las Vegas. I was riveted by alternating chapters of two sisters: one a Princess Diana impersonator and the other a woman who follows her mob-connected boyfriend to Las Vegas. There’s also an adopted daughter age 13 going on 25 who’s hell on wheels (in a good way). Las Vegas serves as the perfect backdrop for this complicated crime-filled novel. In my opinion, this would be a good miniseries plot just like the author’s The Flight Attendant.

Chris Bohjalian writes quite the thriller set in the city of Las Vegas. The Princess of Las Vegas is quite famous in her own right and has a residency in a casino by the name of Buckingham Palace (BP). BP is rather run down and a group of mobbed up people messing around in cryptocurrency want to purchase the casino. Too bad it wasn't initially for sale! The Princess of Las Vegas, Chrissy, has taken on the role of Lady Di, hiding her true self by becoming Princess Diana. Chrissy has many secrets and is content to be hidden in Las Vegas popping pills and drinking. When her sister moves to Las Vegas bringing a cryptocurrency boyfriend with her, Chrissy's secrets really come out. All of this wraps up into being a very good thriller complete with murder and mayhem as the mob and politicians get involved. Thank you to NetGalley and DoubleDay for the digital ARC. This review is my own.

OMG I just finished this book about sisters and las Vegas. One sister plays lady di in a show. There are some issues with the sisters and their family. Loved how it included 3 point of views. slight romance and more thriller. loved this book and great to read this author again.
