This was my first book by this author and I will definitely be reading more! The beautiful cover caught my eye at first, and the plot was intriguing to me. I think it is super relatable as everyone has had those moments in their lives when they are at the start of a new chapter, it can feel scary and unknown but it's so worth it when you take that leap!

As someone who grew up riding, I also loved the plot centering around horses. The entire book had a very nostalgic feel to it, Abbie was dealing with being a push over in her very first relationship and learning how to properly stand up for herself. Carson was new to her and he was also dealing with some mistakes he had made in his past. It was a super sweet, endearing summer romance that made for a very enjoyable read!!

I don't think I'm the only one who requested this book because of its gorgeous cover art! Another one of those instances when you can absolutely judge a book by the cover. I'm currently living in my cowboy era, so this novel appeared at the right time and I couldn't be more grateful to have been approved for an ARC. I actually finished it in 2 sittings and let me tell you, the story doens't disappoint.

If you're looking for a book with a good ol' small town romance to make your heart skip several beats, then look no further. Abbie and Carson have the bestest chemistry and the sexual tension between them went through the roof (there's a little bit of spice too, to my utmost pleasure). Readers, this is going to be your next great summer read for sure. Happy pub day!

This was my first ARC book and my first Heather Gavin read and I absolutely loved it.

I love horses and riding, as well as summer romances, so if you are into these as well, this book is for you! Small town girl, riding competitions, add the drama and you have a great recipe! Loved the storyline and the pace of the book, just perfect for the plot and length. Spice 🌶️🌶️, book ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.

I will be reading more from this author!

Thank you Heather Garvin, Victory Editing, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC.

'I told him Tennessee is my home, but there's a girl in Florida who feels a lot like home, too.'

This was such a sweet story! I just finished it and my heart is overflowing,

Thanks to Heather and NetGalley for the ARC, I really liked every moment of it.

This is the first book I've ever read by Heather Garvin. I devoured it in one day even though I found the beginning to be a little tough to get into. But once I was hooked, it was a page-turner!

It was a very nice and sweet, well-written, quick read, full of horses, beautiful moments and two characters that were made for each other.

This would be a delightful summer read for anyone who likes cute and fast-burn young love, small-town, friends-to-lovers, romance.

My rating: 4.5 stars

What can I say other than I absolutely loved this book, and will be purchasing it when it’s released, and I’m not even a romance book lover, but the book is so addictive that I couldn’t put it down and finished it in one day. I will admit that towards the end of the book I did want to smack Carson so that he would realize what he is leaving behind. The angst that grows between Carson and Abbie because they both know that they should not get attached because he’s leaving but at the same time they keep getting closer knowing that at the same time that his time in Florida is limited is just perfect.

Thanks NetGallery, Heather Garvin and Tuscan Publishing for providing me an ARC for Make A Move.

When I first requested this book from NetGallery, I was completely enamored by the cover. I love small town romances, so I knew immediately this one could be a fun one to read. Make your move is short, sweet, spicy and endearing. It follows Abbie, a girl that adores her small town and her job with ridding horses and the chores that come with it. Her life is changing, with her friend moving for collage and her boyfriend also moving, what she didn't expect was how the arrival of Carson was going to change even more her situation.

This book was my first from Heather, and I hope is not going to be my last. Although the premise was simple, (forced proximity, "workplace romance"), the story is beautifully written. I enjoyed reading about Abbie, as an individual, and with Carson, lets just say her chemistry was sweet and just the type of love you like to read in contemporary romances.

The only reason I didn't rate it higher, is that I felt like I needed more depth into the characters. I wanted to know more of Carson, and Abbie, I understand the book is short, which is maybe the determining factor of what I thought this story lacked, However, I still had fun reading it, it was extremely fast paced and just what I needed in the moment.

I love a young love feel good book! This was my first time reading about horses and stables with the intense love the character had for the animals, but I sure felt like I knew these animals just as much! Abbie and Carson made my heart skip so much and were both very careful to not shatter my heart! Give me more young love, family ties, and not letting the moment go because your scared of love!! 🩵

An equestrian romance 🫶🏼
⭐️: 5/5- i loved this one 🥹 as an avid horse girl myself, I really related to Abby. The getting up early, taking care of your own horse + showing against people with much nicer horses was my high school/college experience. I loved reading about her and Carson + getting to read about the horses. Even if you know nothing about horses, I still think you would enjoy this book! The author does an excellent job explaining everything so that you understand what is going on. Their story was so nostalgic for me. I’m recommending this one to everyone at my barn and anyone who likes small town cowboy romance 😍

📖: “Abbie Linley loves her small-town life. Leaving for college may be the next step for her friends, but she’s not ready to walk away from the horses. She’d happily keep her world the same, but everything around her seems to be changing.
Carson Daniels’s only job is to shoe horses, but he gets more than he bargained for when he shows up at the Linley’s barn. The last thing he needs is to get distracted by the owner’s beautiful daughter.

It would never work. She has a boyfriend. And he’s leaving.

….. but Abbie and Carson can’t seem to stay away from each other.

It’s only one summer, but maybe that’s okay—maybe they can put it all behind them.

Or maybe it will fuel a love they could never forget.”

🌶️: 3/5- it’s an open door romance, and the disclaimer in the front made me go 👀 but it wasn’t as spicy as i thought. Less than Tessa Bailey or Meghan Quinn. It’s perfect in the setting of this book but I wouldn’t let a 13 year old read it.

“Make Your Move” is the summer equestrian romance you have been looking for! I loved the breakup drama, the small-town girl, and the new-boy-in-town love interest. I really enjoyed how the riding competitions added to the plot. This story was sweet and angsty in all the best ways!

Thank you Heather Garvin, Victory Editing, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC.

Everything about this book kept me wanting more until finally it gave me exactly what I needed from it. Abbie and Carson together have such a fun humour and understanding for each other and the playfulness is brilliant. Only thing I wish is that Abbie didn't assume so much in the first half of the book and Seth was exactly what he was meant to be, the hated ass of a guy who only made Carson look even better.

Make Your Move was such an incredible book, I just could not put it down! I loved that even though it was more of a slow burn, there was always something happening and it was never boring! I'd say its kind of a cowboy romance but not entirely. She rides horses and he used to, but now does the horse shoes for her and her mums horses, so it's also sort of a forced proximity situation as well. They met early on in the book, but she had a boyfriend at the time, so they don't get together until a lot later into the book (after ALOT of drama). I've given this book five stars because i finished it in a day, because i loved the whole storyline and the way it was written, and all played out. I think the authors done an amazing job of creating their story and i hope to read more of her work very soon :) overall i would absolutely recommend this to anyone that just wants a quick easy read, but also wants to actually have a good storyline, not just the same pretty much repetitive story line in lots of other romance books. i hope if you do decide to read it, that you love it as much as i have :) I've also posted a review of this book on my tiktok if you want to go check that out :) @izzie.reads

**I received an ARC in exchange for an HONEST review of this book**

I devoured this book in one day; it would have been one sitting if I didn’t have stupid obligations. Heather Garvin has written Abbie and Carson to be one of those book couples who would definitely get married, live a long happy life, and die together while holding each other’s hands. They’re that perfect, even if they’re just out of high school.

Carson is in Florida for a few weeks to help his Dad out with his Farrier business. Horrible, sweaty, Florida. Then he’ll get to go back to Tennessee, back to his regular life, back to his home. However, the more he gets to know Abbie Linley the more he’s not so sure where his home is anymore.

Abbie Linley is one of those girls who’s content with her life, as long as she gets to be around horses. She knows her boyfriend, Seth, will probably break up with her at the end of summer when he goes off to University, and she stays home to help her mom with the Barn. She knows she’s out of his league and is just enjoying the ride while it lasts. And deep down, she knows he is a bad boyfriend.

That’s why, the moment Carson enters the barn for the first time, he becomes a catalyst for everyone.

And thank Heather Garvin he does because the buildup to the inevitable of this romance is pure perfection. From the moment Carson enters the picture, their connection ignites with an instantaneous spark. Carson's stark contrast to Seth serves as a strong reminder of what Abbie should seek in a partner—he shows her that money isn’t what determines ones worth. Meanwhile, Abbie's character resonates easily as her internal dialogue leads us to her conclusions about who she desires and why. Abbie and Carson’s witty and flirtatious banter made me fly through the pages, and left me stuck in smile mode. Garvin's skillful portrayal of their conflict resolution, although possibly unrealistic for college freshmen in reality, effortlessly suspends disbelief, allowing me to giggle like a schoolgirl at their playful, yet wise, exchanges. They held space for each other to make mistakes, to stumble and grow, while cherishing moments of vulnerability and nurturing their sweet connection. Together, they discover what love actually is.

This book has earned a place in my rainy day pile for when I need a feel romance featuring a slightly grumpy & sunshine couple, or a quick escape from a reading slump. I highly recommend this read!

Thank you NetGalley for this ARC. As an equestrian, this was such a cute and enjoyable read! Carson and Abbie have undeniable chemistry and you can’t help but love the way he is always there to support her.

What’s there not to like about a face-paced, summer romance surrounded by horses?

3.8/5 stars
This was such a fun, light read, perfect for summer, but not without its fair share of heavier topics and difficulties, all tastefully resolved by the end.
It's a small town romance following Abbie and Carson as the try to navigate the summer, horse shows and the growing, albeit wrong, attraction between them before he has to go back to Tennessee.
The themes and the tone of the book are classic New Adult, but can be fully appreciated by any age group (over 18!).
It starts a bit slow but gradually picks up the pace, with the tension between the MCs that's just *chef's kiss*, and the steamy scenes that are, in fact, very steamy (Carson may have ruined both Abbie and ME).
Noteworthy are also the side characters, especially Abbie's mom and her hilarious life mottos.

I feel like some parts could have been explored more, like the troubled relationship between Abbie and her dad, or the reason behind Carson's strong need to go back to Tennessee but overall, it was very entertaining and lighthearted book.

Thank you Heather for this ARC, can't wait to see what you come up with next!

* I’m currently in my cowboy era after reading the chestnut spring series and I’m so glad this book didn’t deter me away from my high. if you're looking for a short small-town (I guess workplace?) romance read, this is a good shout.
* I read this book in one-sitting and whilst I haven’t read any of Heather’s work previously, this was a great impression of her quality of work.
* I liked the writing style, it wasn’t too tacked on to modern-day references or ornately cheesy when there’s a cute moment between the two protagonists
*The book follows Abbie Lyndam and new boy working at the ranch, Carlson who end up developing a fondness for each other that turns into something greater
* Abbie and Carlson are two peas in a pod, they’re “outsiders” and on the outside they’ve managed to find each other. Where Abbie has struggles, Carlson is ready to help her through them, which makes the pair a great example of what they highs of a relationship should envision.
* While there isn’t objectively wrong with the book, I just wanted more from it, I wanted more depth within Abbie and Carlson’s relationship, it felt fast-paced in that regard. Carlson was too 'perfect' and where Abbie had complexities to deal with, I found it harder to picture Carlson to be realistic. Although there were some mentions of Carlson's past, I wanted the book to showcase that. That's where I find the passion was lacking, because Carlson's character was a little mundane.
*I just wished for more conflict to overcome within the relationship or without a third party character to blame.
*Please take my preferences for conflict and 'flawed' characters with a grain of salt, considering my affliction towards imperfect characters and conflict resolution
* Overall a great read, and something enjoyable if you want a small-town/ cowboy romance

This was my first ARC book and I absolutely loved it. I finished it within 3 days because I couldn’t put it down.I loved the setting of a farm and the love story it entailed. Throughout the book I felt ALL the emotions from anger to all the butterflies and the pain Abbie felt. I was able to feel the heart ache in the last chapters and the happiness at the very end. If you enjoy love stories, this one is an easy read and really gets you invested.

4/5 stars, 3/5 spiciness

Wow, consider my very happily surprised. The way this story captivated me and had me on the edge of my seat is amazing. This is such a cute and lighthearted love story about finding home in your favorite person.

The chemistry and banter between Carson and Abbie made me melt in my seat. The way Carson kept looking at Abbie like he was trying to understand her made me love him all the more. I mean, I can’t say no to a man in dirty jeans, t-shirt and backwards baseball cap. I mean talk about book boyfriend material! I loved the way that this was not instalove and they really got to understand each other and learn from each other by just being there every day.

The flirtation, angst and the spicy scenes in this book were *chef’s kiss*. I mean, the trailer scene and the car scene, it had me steaming up my kindle.

I will absolutely be reading more from this author and cannot wait to see what else she has in store for us!
I received this as an ARC from Heather Garvin. This book comes out on 7/11/2023 and I will definitely be buying a physical copy!

I have published all my reviews on Instagram, Goodreads, Storygraph, and Amazon on 7/9/2023.

Make Your Move is one of the sweetest young romances I’ve read recently. Abbie is a hardworking, independent, high school graduate who unlike everyone else she knows will be staying out on her horse farm with her mom. She and her mother have a great dynamic between them that reminded me of a Rory and Lorelai from the Gilmore Girls. Their banter was very realistic and relatable.
We meet Carson when he comes to fill in for his dad and to also do a few extra pieces of work around their farm. From there the love story that forms is so simple and pretty effortless between the two. Which leads me to were I felt this story lacked for me a bit. I do wish we would have gotten more of Carson and Abbie dating. I wanted more moments of intimacy showing more pieces of their personalities together and moments that showed their budding feelings for each other. I also felt this story was a bit too short. At times I was surprised at how fast certain parts happened without more build up. So I feel like more details would have balanced it more for me. Overall, I really enjoyed this story and I really liked this to be an easy entry into the cowboy romance trope.

First thought: It’s a great small town romance, it has all the things to keep you turning the pages.

Abbie loves horses and has ridden her whole life. She spends all her time practicing for her next competition and taking care of the horses. Abbie is at a turning point in her life, her bff just left for college and her bf of a year leaves at the end of summer. She decided to go to a local college and live at home as she doesn’t want to leave her horses and her mom all alone. Little does she know this summer is going to change everything.

Carson is down from TN for the summer to help cover his dad’s farrier business as he recovers from an illness. He also signed up to help Abbie’s mom with the long list of repairs needed around their ranch. Carson has a troubled past and is battling with his demons this summer and he does not want to complicate anything by getting attached to anyone especially not the attractive, sweet, hardworking Abbie.

With Abbie and Carson both working on the ranch together this summer there is bound to be some run ins. Will Abbie breakup with her current bf for a chance with Caron who isn’t staying? Will Carson fall for Abby and decide to stay?

This book was great, the perfect cute summer romance. It is a single narrative of Abbie it has: troubled pasts, forced proximity, and the perfect amount of spice for a NA Romance.
