I would firstly just like to say a big thank you to NetGalley who very kindly forwarded me an arc copy of this book, for my kindle, in return for my honest review.
It’s A Wonderful Life meets Groundhog Day, as a woman who is close to losing it all receives an unexpected Christmas gift that prompts a journey of self discovery…..
I jumped at the chance to read this book, just from reading the blurb and I wasn’t disappointed, it really was wonderful.
I loved all of the characters as they all added that certain something to the story.
This was such an heartwarming and emotional read and i loved being immersed in this wonderful, Christmassy story…….
I wanted to like this book based on the premise but I could not get into the story at all. The characters were one dimensional- all in all a disappointment
"Groundhog Day" meets "It's a Wonderful Life" this book kept me hooked! It made me think about who I would choose to have my day with. Emotional and entertaining, I highly recommend this book!
Three weeks before Christmas, Diana and Linus are beginning discuss wedding plans. After a fight over Diana's hesitation to set a date, they go to their respective jobs agreeing to discuss it again later. However, Linus doesn't return home that evening. After an accident puts him in a coma, a devastated Diana is wishing she could turn back time. After a visit from her strange neighbor and some Christmas enchantment, Diana finds herself repeating the day of the accident. Can she find a way to stop the accident?
I love a good time loop. This book was entertaining and heartwarming; a reminder to be grateful for what you have. Diana could certainly be a little selfish in her relationships with her fiance, friends, and in-laws and I enjoyed watching that evolve. Even though this was Groundhog Day style, some of the days repeated a bit too much information and dialogue that we already knew, and I got frustrated with Diana's attitude. There were certainly some medical inaccuracies that irked me a bit. Overall, this was an enjoyable read that I would recommend for the holiday season.
Unfortunately this was not my cup of tea. The main character was too sappy for me and it was not a pleasure to read. I like time loop stories and I have read quite a few but this one was just such a cliche and I could not enjoy it. I am sure someone who likes Hallmark movies and other type of feel good romance movies set around Christmas time would love this book but I always found them cringey and sadly that was the case with this book too.
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley.
“Forever is a myth. All we’ve got is this moment.”
Diana is stuck in a time loop. Living December 4th over and over again. After wishing for one more day with her fiancé who has been in a coma for three weeks, she finds herself back on the same day of his accident. Diana tries to make the changes necessary through out the day to save him,but fate has other plans. As the days go on, Diana finds that Linus is not the only one that needs to be saved. Can Diana make the necessary changes for her and Linus to be together once more?
Through the Snow Globe is the perfect winter read and a phenomenal story. The story is a true “GroundHog Day” romance about a woman not only trying to save her fiancé but also learning to open up and allow her friends and new family in. I was invested in Diana and wanted her to have the happy ending she deserved. I truly enjoyed this book be plan on doing a reread around Christmas.
Thank you to NetGalley and Canelo Publishing for the opportunity to review Through the Snow Globe. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Thanks to the Publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.
I really enjoyed reading this book..
Diana, is reliving the same day, 4th December over and over again, the day that her life changed. She’s trying to put right what was wrong that day, but doesn’t have much luck the first time.
We see the changes Diana makes in her personal relationships as well as in her professional life.
I recommend this book.
A great seasonal tale. A lovely yet a little heartbreaking time loop tale. I really enjoyed it will be looking out for more from Annie
As long as I'm alive on this earth, I'll always come back to you, Di. That's a promise that I will never break."
Honestly, I was almost losing hope of getting a phenomenal read this month, but thankfully, this book changed that notion of mine. This story was highly emotional, wrapped in a blanket of wholesomeness.
I'll tell you this, this book completely broke my heart in the best possible way. You know the kind of heroes who are extremely selfless, kind, patient & a whole level of comfort? Linus was one of them. I couldn't find a single thing wrong about him & Qasim utterly devastated to see him live through those horrible fates.
Diana was a very relatable character. The never-ending cruel loops she went through were heartbreaking. I loved how much these characters loved each other. But mind you, this isn't just the plot. There's a very unexpected, bittersweet surprise that will make your heart happy. And the full-circle moment at the end, that was everything.
Thank you Netgalley and publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Through the Snow Globe by Annie Rains is a charming Christmas fable with a hint of magic, perfect for the holiday season.
The book is the story of Diana , a young woman who works as a physical therapist in the small town of Snow Haven, where she lives with her fiance Linus who runs the town's toy store. Christmas is only weeks away and Linus is starting to question if she really wants to marry him as she is seemingly reluctant to set a date, one of her clients called her an ice queen and she is stressing out about interviewing for a promotion at work, but all of these worries become nothing when a tragic accident sees Linus end up in a coma. Weeks pass and his condition is not improving, and before she knows it it is Christmas Eve. Diana finds a wrapped gift from Linus and opens it to discover a snow globe with a miniature version of the town inside. What she does not realise is that shaking the globe ends up putting her in a time loop where she lives through the day of the accident over and over again. At first she tries everything in her power to save Linus, but each time she fails and the loop resets she learns something more about herself and opens up just a little more, Will one final loop bring her the Christmas Miracle she is hoping for or could it bring her more than she ever dreamed of?
This was such a charming and heart warming book, with just enough humour to keep it from being a full on tear jerker. I never found it repetitive despite the time loop because we got to see not just Diana but also several of the secondary characters grow and evolve with each loop. This was clever as it gave the author much more to work with rather than just focussing on Diana each time. This would be a perfect Christmas read for someone looking for a holiday read with a difference.
I read and reviewed an ARC courtesy of NetGalley and the publisher, all opinions are my own .
Through The Snow Globe is a cute holiday story in true groundhog’s day style about a woman who regrets putting off her engagement. She ends up reliving the day her fiancé got in an accident until she realizes what she wants to have to make her life fulfilling .
Annie Rains created a cute holiday story about second chances. Thank you NetGalley and publisher for a copy for my honest opinion.

Review: This story starts out with Diana and her husband Linus. They are engaged and Diana is dragging her feet setting a date for her wedding. They have an argument about it and the next day they go about their day and Linus gets into an accident.
Distraught Diana finds a snow glow globe Linus planned to give her for Christmas and one of neighbors does an enchantment on it and Diana ends up reliving the day before Linus’s accident. Now she’s stuck in a time loop trying to figure out a way to alter the present day while also getting out of the loop. I enjoyed this story. I thought Diana was a sweet and caring character. I adored all her patients characters as well. I struggled a bit with the constant starting over of the same day. Although she ended up doing something different on each day to alter the future i found myself getting anxious over the constant starting over. Despite that i did like that Diana started to find out what she actually wanted by the constant repeating of each day. This was definitely a very hallmark movie, cliche, feel good story and definitely is the perfect holiday read!
Thanks to @netgalley for providing me with this ARC for an exchange for my Honest review. @annierainsbooks
I really loved this book. It is Rains first foray into women's fiction. I loved her romance, but this book went so much deeper. It is a time loop story in which the main character, Diana, is reliving the same day over and over. It just so happens to be the worst day of her life and as she relives December 4th over and over, she strives to fix everything that was wrong with that day the first time around. She certainly doesn't get it right the very next time. The reader gets to witness the growth in Diana's personal relationships and the progress she slowly makes to becoming the person that she really wants to be.
Personally, I was entranced by this book. I loved the evolution of Diana's personal traits and the changes that took place within her heart and her soul. Winner, winner!
Thanks to Canelo Publishing for the gifted copy. All thoughts are my own.
Synopsis: after having the worst day filled with tragedy, a woman receives an enchanted snow globe that puts her in to a time loop where she tries to alter the past in hopes of changing the future.
Pros: I’ve read a few time loop/Groundhog’s Day themed books (The Holidaze and just last week The Deja Glitch) and this was definitely my favorite. It had a sweet story about love, relationships and finding yourself.
Cons: The main character went through the same day five times, so somewhere in the middle of the story I got a bit bored because I was reading a slightly different iteration of what I had already read.
But overall it ended nicely, had Christmas vibes and was an enjoyable story!
Thank you to Netgalley and Canelo for the early copy. Check this out when it’s released later this month, and maybe save it for a holiday read this year!
Through The Snow Globe is a kind of second chance at romance story, with an enchanted spin, during the magical Christmas season.
Diana is trying to save her fiancé life, she isn't going to give up on their love, she is willing to do anything she can to change Linus’ future, unfortunately she has no idea how to do it.
Diana initially is cold and distant, she was brought up like that. She was scared to get attached to someone until she met Linus. He tore down the walls she put up to protect her heart fron pain and disappointment. And now that she is an inch away from losing the love of her life she finds the strength to make some changes, and set her priorities.
She isn’t the lovely character you expect in a Christmas story, but she is perfect for thia story, her story.
I empathized with her throughout the book, I could feel her dismay and her anxiety, and the feelings she has for Linus.
This was a heartwarming holiday read. I've enjoyed it.
This was one of the most beautiful Christmas books I have read. It had everything you want from a great Christmas story; traditions, family, romance, redemption, snow and a touch of magic too!
The last 1/5 of the book brought tears to my eye's regularly and the majority of them were joyful from reading about the growth in so many of the characters that were kind of satellites in orbit around Diana as she traversed these time loops. Living one day over and over with Diane was interesting, watching her learning what she really wants and how to help others while she tries to figure out a way to save Linus or bring him back to her was just so heart-warming.
I always enjoy these 'Groundhog day' style stories but this one just felt so special to me and I can't exactly put my finger on why except to say, it's the writers skill in drawing the characters they have and expressing the situations they are living through.
This was a great Christmas read and one I know I will enjoy revisiting again in future.

One Liner: Heartwarming
Diana Merriam is exhausted. Her fiancé Linus has been hit by a car three weeks before Christmas and is in a coma. She may be good at her job as a physical therapist, but the promotion seems elusive. Her relationship with her best friend, Rochelle, is strained. Nothing seems to be going Diana’s way.
When she finds a snow globe in Linus’ wardrobe, she knows it is his Christmas gift to her. A night before Christmas, Diana wishes for another chance to do better. This changes the course of her life, putting her in an endless time loop. Each time Diana has to re-live the same horrible day, she sees things she missed before. What does the universe want Diana to realize? Can she find what she needs? Will Christmas bring a miracle for her?
The story comes from Diana’s third-person POV.
What I Like:
A book with a time loop needs to have an engaging plot, as the same day will be repeated multiple times. This one handles the concept well. Every repeat is similar yet different. The conversations that sound similar and robotic are intentional to show Diana’s thought process.
Linus is a super adorable guy. There’s very little fault in him, which doesn’t make Diana look good at times, but he is who he is. He comes from an emotionally healthy family, and it shows.
Rochelle has a good presence, though she could have had a deeper character arc. Still, she does well within the limitations. The other characters, like Maria and Addy, have a realistic portrayal and are relatable.
Little Dustin is a good addition, and his presence is revealed in bits and pieces. He is a sweet little kid who deserves a happy family to love him. I wouldn’t have minded more of him.
The small-town setting doesn’t really come alive in this one. However, I like how the weather changes (incidentally, it doesn’t snow in Snow Haven) are used in the time loop, almost like foreshadowing.
I think Diana’s character is done well for the majority of the book. I’ve noticed some reviews not liking her. But that is the point of the plot. Diana thinks she is professional, polite, efficient, and independent. She is always compact and has her walls up because that’s the only way she knows to live. She doesn’t realize it comes across as cold and unemotional instead of as someone always in control of themselves. The time loop is for her to understand this difference and know she can be confident yet friendly with others.
In one of the repeats, Diana gets angry and frustrated. This is a great addition as it aptly shows her emotional state. This anger stems from helplessness and is justified from her POV.
And we have an epilogue. The epilogue is sweet but just right and ends the book on a happy note. Snow Haven is beautiful again, and why not?
What Could Have Been Better for Me:
With stories that need to show tangible changes in a character, the process has to be seamless and relatable. While the book achieves this to a certain point, it feels jerky at a crucial moment. The shift in Diana’s thought process has to be more detailed and emotional. Her breakdown scene could have been repeated if necessary.
There’s a character, William (Diana’s co-worker), mentioned multiple times but has zero presence in the book. At least with Diana’a grandma Denny and estranged mom, we know why they are needed and how they shaped her life. But poor William is a boogeyman (scapegoat), and not having him anywhere in the book throughout feels like a disservice. At least make him say hello to someone.
I’m all for happy endings. I sure don’t need ‘realistic’ endings in Christmas books with second chances. However, things here are a little too sweet, and with Diana’s change not coming as strongly as it should, the sweetness feels excessive. A more controlled approach might have worked better (at least for me). Also, even Diana isn’t aware of certain developments, so the whole thing feels a bit strange too.
To summarize, Through the Snow Globe is a heartwarming story of second chances, understanding one’s priorities, and learning to express emotions healthily.
This is a clean romance.
