Our art book collection is bursting, so I was excited to see what this new release had in store. I enjoyed the easy to read format, organization, and variety of projects. The materials were listed clearly and the many photographs to accompany each project helped to feel like the activities were actually do-able for kids.
Great activity book for kids to do. There’s plenty to do and the instructions are easy to follow. Thank you to the publisher.
An imaginative and comprehensive guide for anyone wanting to provide art activities to children of all ages.
The format is logical and methodical, everything has been thought of, such as set up information, work sheets, materials and recommendations. There is a certain generosity to this level of detail and it speaks of much experience, perfecting the craft.
There is also an opportunity to dig deeper with some of the activities, with information on artists and movements, so that the same activities could be added to to fit a variety of ages and experience.
I'd be interested in applying what I've learnt to activities at work events for children.
Like many art books, some feel to complex to attempt in a classroom setting, but it’s a beautiful book that could be great in small groups or at home ❤️
This was a good read for me and my kids. We enjoyed crafting and creating different art. Thank you for a copy
I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.
Super Fun Art Activities is a book created for the reader to find new ideas for art projects to do with children. The book gives some instructions on how to complete each project suggested, but these are not in-depth and are open to the readers' own interpretation. The book is suitable more for older children aged 8+ I'd say and has a wide range of ideas, materials, and techniques to try out. I do wish there had been more in depth step by step instructions for some of the projects.
Great for art teachers or teachers/parents who want to incorporate more art into the lives of their children/students. Some great ideas for projects and setting up an art area that will work well with young people.
This is a cool book for older kids. There’s lots of ideas but not step by step instructions on each. Which I think fosters a figure it out mentally. Look art is subjective. Not everything needs step 1 through 50 laid out. This gives the kids opportunities to use their imagination. That’s also why I’m not sure this is great for littles. Maybe with a lot of guidance.
I used to homeschool. This is the kind of book that our 4 kids loved. The pictures and instructions are simple enough for them to do the crafts on their own (after elementary age). The projects are adaptable enough to be the foundation for various subjects. It wouldn't be the only book on my idea shelf but it would be a welcome addition!
This book overall did not have enough materials to be useful in a classroom environment. I have been teaching K-8 art for 25+ years and most of this felt underwhelming and not worth it. It might work for a homeschooling environment.
Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC. All opinions and expressions within this review are my own.
Super Fun Activities Fir Kids is more of an idea book than a how to book which is fine. However m, you will need Knopf the techniques suggested to complete sone of these activities because full step by step directions are not listed. It does however give you an idea of how to get started. I feel
Like this is a fun way to explore with older children as sone of the projects could be messy but definitely a book of inspiration so if for no other reason I recommend it for that. Get the book and find new ways to explore art with your kids.
Summer vacation is almost halfway over, my kids were getting pretty bored and this book looked like just the thing to give them a bit of structure and some fun projects to work on!
I read through, then picked out a couple projects to start, gathered our materials and rounded up the five and nine year old to test out the projects. We had several hours of BLISSFUL silence. I read them out the instructions, showed them the pictures of what sort of project we were working on, and they were off! There wasn’t even any fighting over who used the green or which glue belonged to who! The instructions are clear and concise, the pictures helpful to demonstrate(especially for younger ones), and the little blurbs on different artists has given me some interesting people to look up!
I rate this one four stars, and am looking forward to more quiet time during the last half of our summer vacation!
A fantastic find! I am an art teacher at a primary school and have found loads of tips and tricks in this book. It covers everything from drawing to painting, print making to mixed media.
I love the think first paragraph before each lab. It really gets the imagination working before you attempt each one.
Easy to follow lessons and a great list of materials and space requirements needed for different tasks.
A must buy for anyone exploring art with kids of all ages.
Thanks to Netgalley and the author and publisher for a temporary copy in exchange for an honest review.
Interesting and full of ideas old and new. You will need lots of materials to hand. Good for inspiration
This is a great art book for older children. Lots of instructions for each project. The book reads more like a text book and for that reason I think adults would be more likely to pick it up for kids to use, than kids themselves. It needs a bit more color and eye catching pops, but overall it’s full of great ideas.
Super Fun Art Activities for Kids : Awesome Projects for Kids of All Ages is a colourful resource book for teachers, care givers and parents. It is bursting with step by step projects using a variety of materials that can be easily adapted for children of different ages, or to extend your creativity. It is a great book to look through to get the creative juices flowing.
It's a really useful and at times pretty enlightening book if you want to encourage kids to try different techniques of painting, drawing or scrapbooking. Fun, colourful, and with some great examples of art in all styles covered here made by established artists, this may be THE book to convince your child a piece of paper opens the door to imagination.
Our family runs a free arts center out of a 123 year old church we bought in 2020 and my youngest and I are always doing art together too, so I’m always looking for new art ideas. This book has lots of ideas with clear instructions and step by step photos. I didn’t really find anything mind blowing or especially inspiring, but there are lots of ideas and I’m sure I’ll use some in our arts center and our home.
Thanks NetGalley for a temporary digital version of this book for review.
This book is an extensive resource for budding young artists!
It consists of 6 chapters and no less than 33 lessons in painting, drawing, printwork and other artistic medium, all of which come with a link to a successful artist/piece of work to inspire us!
This book comes with full lists of equipment needed, and is (of course!) beautifully illustrated, with photographs, as well as examples of the artistic medium that is being worked on.
It one for older kids as a bit of planning and preparation are needed, but for the target audience I can see that this book is an absolute winner. Personally, I am looking forward to trying out the 'watercolour and plastic painting' - this looks like it will produce spectacular results!
My thanks to NetGalley, author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book in exchange for an advance copy.
This is a great book, packed full with art activities which will suit a variety of primary school aged children. Different media are used and instructions are clear, well set out with informative and eye catching photographs. All this makes art work achievable for different ages and it will prove to be a valuable resource. Thanks to Netgalley for an advance copy.
