"Content Marketing Strategy – Harness the Power of Your Brand's Voice" by Robert Rose offers a solid introduction to the world of content marketing, providing a structured framework built around three core pillars for creating an effective strategy. Rose goes beyond theory to offer practical advice, guiding businesses through shaping their strategic purpose and organizing their teams while stressing the importance of thinking like a media company. While the book covers essential concepts and includes actionable insights, it doesn't break much new ground for seasoned marketers and may feel more useful for beginners or those looking to refresh their approach. Nonetheless, it's a valuable resource for those aiming to understand and implement a well-crafted content marketing strategy.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for this ARC for an honest review.
I found that this book was not aimed at me, but it was an interesting read non the less.
Thank you NetGalley for my complimentary copy in return for my honest review.
With 30+ years of marketing experience, I am not the target audience for the book. It would be an excellent resource for small business owners without the resources to hire someone.
I realized early on that, as a solo business-owner, I am not in the target audience for Content Marketing Strategy by Robert Rose. However, I still learned a lot about how I could strategize my content marketing. I found the customer journey chapter very eye-opening and the author offered a fresh perspective.
The inclusion of examples, diagrams and case studies throughout the book was very helpful. Despite not being in the primary audience, I found the book thorough and easy to follow, making it beneficial for anyone working in content marketing.
In marketing, there's a term "spray and pray" which is what many of us do with our marketing and social media efforts. Put "stuff" out there and hope it connects. This content marketing strategy book puts PURPOSE behind communication that is the first step to achieving the outcomes you want for your social media efforts. I especially appreciated the section on ROI -- making sure the efforts are paying off and worth it. No more "spray and pray" marketing efforts can be justified now if you follow the outline in this book in creating your own story map and committing to generate content.
