If you were a fan of the show Dexter back in the day, and you're craving more, but make it female, then this book is for you!
Told in dual POVs: a genius pianist turned serial killer and an incredibly persistent FBI agent, this story allowed me to cozy up to both characters to the point where I didn't know who to side with. I found them both to be intriguing and likable.
I enjoyed the twists and turns the story took me on and I found it hard to put down. Definitely pick this book up if you like: serial killer thrillers, FBI/police procedurals, cat and mouse chase, a strong female lead, and a character study.

I loved this book! I loved our protagonist, Leah, who is a famous pianist. Leah has a dark past, and that past comes to light when a man is found brutally murdered in the woods.

I enjoyed the story but found Liam's character too annoying and predictable. However, I didn't see the ending coming until I connected the dots. It was good!

Also, the very ending???? I am so confused!!! Who did it?

Maybe there will be a sequel? Thoroughly enjoyed this debut!!

I Kill Killers by S.T. Ashman is something I've never read before and I truly appreciated it a lot. It came out yesterday, the 10th of October, and I received a copy from Victory Editing Netgalley Co-op via Netgalley.

A world renowned pianist sold out years in advance also happens to be a gifted killer. She's a hunter who kills serial killers. With her last case she somehow gets on the radar of an FBI agent. It turns into a cat a mouse game between them while also trying to focus on a specific serial killer she has been hunting for years.

This book leaves you questioning your own moral code between right and wrong. How often do you think deep down in your heart that serial killers or other truly awful people actually deserve to die? This book goes beyond that - the main character has this sense of justice that these killers should not be on the face of this earth anymore. The author manages to convey this moral question on to paper really well. The characters are worked out perfectly and their backgrounds are incorporated into the story brilliantly. The entire story just flows from the pages and I couldn't put it down at all. I would love for it to be a series.

5/5⭐

What do you do when serial killers are being brutally murdered? As an FBI agent would you want to hunt down who was taking out the bad guys or just let them go? Liam is an FBI agent who is working a case of a brutally murdered man who they find was a serial killer but something about this doesn't make sense. His boss says the case is closed but there is more to it and Liam is determined to find out what it is; where is the lady in red that was seen with the man before he died? How is she connected to the world famous pianist Leah?

I really enjoyed this one! Thank you Netgalley, the publisher and author for my ARC!

Wow I loved this!
Fast paced, thrilling and a few twists and turns along the way. I really liked the lead character, Leah, even though I felt like I shouldn’t. I felt satisfied with the ending and will definitely check out any future work from the author!

I have been struggling with finding a thriller that hooks me immediately, and @booksbyashman did not disappoint! I love a good book about a killer who kills serial killers.

S.T. Ashman wrote this book as a way to challenge our beliefs. Does it make it ethical if the killer believe they are doing the right thing by killing those killing innocent people. There is also a mental health/diagnose component that I felt played a minor part in the book; however, it does not take anything away from the book.

This book was fast paced and written in multiple POVs, which are two of my favorite factors! A great debut novel for sure! Can’t wait for the next book! Definitely add this to your list if you are looking for a Dexter and Criminal Minds cross over novel!

I a nice read.
I got to say that the dual narration with the killer and the detective was simply incredible. It was hard to chose a side. Both Liam and Leah are characters that show complexity. Yet they aren’t similar at all. The story is super interesting. The idea of cereal killer that hunts cereal killers was super interesting. Give me nostalgic thoughts abut the Millenium trilogy. But having the side of the agent was an interesting addition. How the story came together little by little was well written. The pace picked up little by little until becoming addictive. The idea of this a series is something im really looking forward to.

I absolutely loved the concept of this book! The main female character is very methodically killing serial killers, as the title suggests. Usually, you hope the person who is doing these brutal crimes is caught, but in this case, I sided with Leah, the main character. I also thought it unique to have the main character as a woman since statistics show women are not typically serial killers or mass murderers.
I would recommend this book to anyone who loves thrillers, as the concepts were unique enough that it made for an excellent read!!!

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of this book!

I'm a big fan of thrillers and books about serial killers so when I saw the synopsis of this book, I was very intrigued, Some of the details were so intense in the beginning, I found myself only able to read a little but at a time but once I was about 40% through, I flew through the rest of the book. I liked that it told the story from Liam and Leah's point of views, especially as more and more was revealed. As the reader, you already had some of the information that Liam was searching for which was fun to see him putting pieces together. I did not see the ending coming and I loved it! Defintely recommend this book to anyone who likes books about serial killers and has been a fan of the shows Dexter or Criminal Minds!

Real rating 3.5/5 rounded down.

I Kill Killers is a very dark crime thriller about Leah, a morally grey character, who kills serial killers. It follows Liam an FBI agent who connects her to their current case and is hunting her down. It was an interesting read of morals and what is deemed as good or evil. I enjoyed the darkness of it, the in depth descriptions of the killings (I love horror and gore so this was right up my alley). I also really enjoyed leah’s point of view the best, this is told in first person and third person duel POV. I loved that there was autistic representation and seeing also how her alexithymia factored into how she operated.

That being said my main beef with this book is the lack of Leah’s POV. I personally do not like cops or any kind of military propaganda so seeing the story majority taking place through Liam’s perspective made for a very repetitive storytelling and made me incredibly bored. From the synopsis it seemed like Leah’s perspective would be the main focus, but we spent the majority of the book following around Liam as he came across dead end after dead end. I also thought the little diversity this book had was disappointing unfortunately (the majority of them are victims in this book or domestic workers)

I loved the concept and premise of this story, it has great potential as we now know it’s going to be a series, but I think a lot of stuff could’ve been fleshed out more, not as rushed and focus more on certain characters and not just the cops. Some of the dialogue was a bit awkward, some of the comments being made by the men in this book were a bit questionable too sometimes. But, overall this was a decent read, the ending really made reading this worth it, and I will probably read the sequel to this to find out what happens next.

The plot of this book was the most intriguing I've ever read! How the FBI and BAU were involved and how expertly it was explained was astonishing. Even the supporting cast members had strong character development and were easy to identify with.
I really enjoy how the book kept me turning the pages and didn't seem dry. I became captivated in this book from the first chapter on because of all the twits in it, and I was eager to find out what happened next. The author employed excellent dialogue throughout the novel, which was also flawlessly concluded.
I want to express my gratitude to Netgalley for sending the e-arc in exchange for my honest review.

I Kill Killers by S.T Ashman 🔪🩸
Pub day 10th October 2023

Thank you Netgalley, the publisher and S.T. Ashman for this ARC.

What a fab debut! I loved the authors writing style and the pacing was perfect. The dual POV between Leah and Liam was fab. If you enjoyed Dexter you will love this book! It had Mindf*ck by S.T. Abby vibes too (just less spicy 🌶) Female serial killer - Yes please.
I was a little confused by the ending and it ends on a huge cliffhanger, I believe the author is writing a sequel so I presume this will be cleared up in book 2. I can't wait for the sequel.

Fantastic book for spooky season 🩸🔪

I Kill Killers is a must read for anyone who loves criminal minds! I requested this book because as a true crime lover, the hanging out of justice is super interesting to me. I gave this book 3 stars because I felt as if the end was rushed a tad bit. I also wanted a deeper dive into Leah’s frame of mind. We got the feel out for Liam, but Leah was a mystery to me.

Can’t wait for the second one! Thanks to NetGalley and S.T. Ash man for this ARC for an honest review!

𝙒𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙄 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙚𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙮𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙨 𝙤𝙡𝙙, 𝙄 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙗𝙗𝙚𝙙 𝙖 𝙗𝙤𝙮. What an 👏🏽 opening 👏🏽 sentence. Instantly gripped. This is Ashman’s DEBUT novel + it was so bloody good; pun intended!

The premise of this book was super original and thought provoking— a serial killer who kills serial killers!? Perfect for any fan of crimes, police procedurals + serial killers. The plot looks at themes of what’s right and wrong, an eye for an eye + the morally grey area of is it wrong to kill a killer?

The plot switches between Leah, infamous pianist, and Liam, FBI agent and the opposing + distinct difference in personalities and morals made for a unique dynamic between our two character perspectives. Leah was difficult to connect with at first: she’s not particularly relatable but she’s captivating and fascinating, and definitely a character that’s worth the perseverance.

The first few chapters of this book are BRUTAL, with super gory and descriptive murders, but this side of the book does mellow down throughout we the book as the plot finds its focus. The big twist + the ending are all SHOCKING, and the epilogue perfectly sets the scene for the second book.

I definitely recommend this dark + unique page turner, and can’t wait to read more of Ashman’s work.

Thank you to NetGalley, Ashman Books, and S. T. Ashman for providing me with this ARC in exchange for providing an honest review.

Overall I enjoyed the premise of this book which is similar to Dexter in that the main character, Leah, is a serial killer of serial killers. The game is a cat and mouse chase as FBI agent Liam starts to realise that there’s more to Leah than meets the eye.

The book is dark in content and can be quite graphic but that’s juxtaposed with the almost comical FBI agents. They should be on top of their game and maybe it’s because Leah’s character is a world-renowned pianist but they overlook a lot of obvious leads at first.

Whilst I enjoyed this book overall and commend the author on their debut, there were some elements I wasn’t a fan of. Liam’s character is a bit too perfect, he has no flaws and just doesn’t feel authentic for that. Leah’s character is very black and white but then the epilogue confuses that. Finally the book can be quite graphic but it constantly uses the word “panties” which just feels a bit like something a teen would say!

“A drop of red blood on a white canvas for the whole world to see.”
Good Gracious, what did I just read? This was a fabulously haunting read, that I enjoyed immensely. A serial killer, that kills serial killers - what a ride! Written from 2 perspectives, one of the serial killer and the other from the FBI agent hot on her heels. Will he put the pieces together on time, or will this case fall cold before he can prove his gut feelings are true? And that ending! I almost threw my kindle across the living room.

This is a top pick of 2023 for me. There was absolutely nothing I didn’t like about this book.

The premise is simple: Do two wrongs make a right? Only the answer may not be as simple as it seems.

Liam is our FBI white knight. He is determined, relentless, and believes that good and bad are black and white. Leah is world-famous concert pianist, lying in wait like a black widow. Leah’s neurodivergence is integral to the story and causes the reader to constantly question her motives. Add that to the interactions between Leah and Liam, you spend much of the book trying to determine which of them is actually in the right.

There are multiple twists and turns throughout the book, and S.T. Ashman throws out some perfect red herrings.

Actually yelled by me while reading (and irritating my husband):
Big Twist #1 - Oh f*ck!
Big Twist #2 - Oh s#*t! No she didn’t!
