Troubled war veteran, haunted by nightmares, takes on the task of protecting a young woman who was abused severely by her cruel father. They flee to Scotland to escape his wrath because Emilia can oust her father as a traitor for conspiring against the crown. As soon as they are on the road, they profess their love, have sex and want to get married, despite both of them initially agreeing this is not a good idea. The trip is interrupted a few times by her father and her men capturing her/them, before they escape again. But they make it to Scotland, marry and her father is hanged.
Suffice to say, the story felt a bit flat to me. The sudden ‘romance’ felt rushed and unrealistic, and just didn’t really appeal to me. The ending was quite graphic in regards to the violence. Colin was very troubled, he really suffered from his PTSS but it isn’t going away because you sleep with someone. And Emilia was supposed to be so brave, handling her back being whipped open and bloodied, but after that happening and her fleeing she still didn’t tell everything she knew about her father. Why tell 90% but hide the remaining 10% of the story after all that you went through and knowing there’s no turning back?! A story with deep emotions and troubled experiences, which will appeal to various people who are looking for a romantic story with a dramatic setting.

wow this was a Rollercoaster! Emilia frantically pounds on the door of the Highlander Knights one night because she was horribly beaten by her father. They take her in and decide to have Sir Colin take her to Scotland to hide because Emilia knows dangerous secrets about her father.

This is action packed but also full of sweet tender moments and tenderness and care for two people that are dealing with intense pasts. Sir Colin is suffering from PTSD and Emilia as well from her horrendous relationship. They help each other to fight their demons and through that and this trek find the sweetest love I've read in a while. This book feels very well rounded with as the amount of action and drama keeps you intrigued but also the romance keeps you rooting for them.

I really loved this and I definitely need to read the others in this series.

I’m going to be extremely biased and say there are few things better than a handsome Highlander hero in a historical romance! Some clever alliteration in that last sentence. If only there were more of them beyond the pages of books (Sam Heughan excluded – he can have my number any day with an open invite for a dram of whisky)!

Saved by a Scot brings all my favourites together in a beautifully written historical romance set during the Regency era in the aftermath of the Battle of Waterloo. The plot is action-packed, heart-wrenching, and oozed regency charm. The plot packed punch with dancing with danger to be an ensnaring read with the twists and turns the story took from the first page to the last. The premise tackles some darker themes in a respectful portrayal of the impact of war/survivors guilt on mental health and abusive family situation in a time where women were very much the property of their fathers and husbands to craft a vivid backstory for the main characters, Sir Colin Stirling and Lady Emilia Featherstone’s romance.

I found the description of travel conditions, settings of coaching inns, and the journey realistic and historically accurate (making the historian in me a happy camper!). I did ponder if the travel to Scotland appeared to be too quick at one point as I have read historical accounts that it could range from four days in good conditions to two weeks with bad weather in the Regency era. It’s the only niggle I had whilst enjoying the book.

Character energies are divinely written in this book, creating deep and dynamic people on the page. Colin’s a strong hero that I bet the devil wouldn’t dare cross, but he’s a kind, considerate man with a deadly edge to his soul. Emilia has the appearance of a sweet, dutiful daughter. Underneath, she’s intelligent, honourable, and willing to risk everything to do the right thing even if it risks her life.

Both Colin and Emilia are survivors which is clear in their character personalities on the page. This shared experience brings them together. The intimacy between Colin and Emilia develops quickly because of their forced proximity as they head into hiding, but it’s implied they have met before in the previous books and both admire one another since the meeting. Their chemistry is sweet, tender, and protective of one another. I love the energy between Colin and Emilia. Making them one another protectors from the dangers of Emilia’s father and Colin’s nightmares was beautifully written and my inner romantic turned to mush.

Previously published as Highland Temptation, Saved by the Scot returns to the group of our favorite Highland Knights, with a focus now on Sir Colin Stirling and one Lady Emilia Featherstone. When Lady Emilia discovers her father's schemes against the Crown, she turns to the Highland Knights and Sir Colin to help take him down.

While this can be read as a standalone, there are cameos and characters from the other books in the series, which makes it fun if you have read those as well. I would also put a CW or TW for abuse (past & present for children and spouse).

I didn't really care for this book. I thought it was weird how someone who had just been whipped could heal so fast. Riding around in a carriage all day wearing clothes has to be excruciating. Then there was Colin's hero complex, I am so attracted to her so I must save her. And Emilia was no better, I can take away your scary dreams just by being here. It all felt a bit ridiculous.

Jennifer Haymore has done it again. She told a fantastic story.

Saved by the Scot follows the story of Sir Colin Stirling and Lady Emily Featherstone. One night, Lady Emilia knocks on the door of the Highland Knights' house. She is badly beaten and is looking for a safe place. The girl is in shock, she does not want to say exactly what happened. All she says is that her father is responsible for the beating. Without much information, the Knights decide it is safer to take Lady Emilia to Scotland, and there find out more. Colin is to be responsible for her safety during the trip and to find out as much as possible. For reasons unknown, Lady Emilia feels the safest with him, trusting him that he will be able to protect her from death.

This story is tricky in a way. The author presents topics that may be too much for some. Mental and physical traumas are described, both characters struggle with their problems, at the same time noticing that they are the only people who can help each other. This love story is an image of boundless support, when one person fails, the other person is stronger at the moment and lifts the first one off the ground. Practically, this story is what anyone should expect from a relationship.

The author has done delightful work, describing difficult topics wrapped in beautiful love stories with a touch of spice. I recommend the whole series. The author's style and storytelling skills are amazing!

Another outstanding great read from this author. The romance was most certainly enjoyable to read. Collin took a hold of his character and definitely rose to the challenge of being a hero that you dare not cross. Elisa couldn’t help but be drawn to all that power Collin oozed. I loved everything about the story.
The writer captivated my imagination with its plot that took part in making this book an entertaining story. I do have one gripe about the young age of Elisa of twenty one. Twenty four or older is a wise choice. I understand that times back then that maidens were of young age. I also understand that the writer sticks close to the reality of the time period.
Perhaps if the writer could hint of the age of the heroine or give reader’s a guesstimate age of the female love interest or not refer to the age at all. This still does not take away how excellent the book was written. I loved the characters the story has a terrific happy ending and I look forward to more stories to come. I give this book two snaps and a twist.

This is the third installment in the Highland Knight’s series. This one follows Sir Colin and Lady Emilia as they flee England to Scotland to escape her father who has committed treason. There are many twists and turns but they get their HEA in the end.

The difference between this book from others of similar plots is that even though there is a happy ending it’s an honest one where the main issues of the characters are an ongoing work for life. Emilia’s character was something that was difficult for me to love. Even after so much misery in her life she showed to be strong enough until she was forced to do something against her will without considering many options available to her and suggested by the story.
One of the things I like most from historical books even fiction ones is the last part where the author explains her/his source of inspiration. There you have this small window to learn about a past and so many issues usually unknown to readers. Just a humble suggestion to include in future stories.

loving this series. the characters are so amazing and the storyline was great. the main characters as so perfect for each other.

As each of the Highland Knights are war heroes and going through some form of PTSD with many scars some are physical and some are mental, but nothing that a good woman can't help them heal and deal with. This is the third book in this wonderful Highland Knights series. This is a re-issue as this book was originally titled Highland Temptation.

Sir Colin Stirling, one of the war hero warriors of The Highland Knights, believes he is going mad and is being chased by the demons of souls he has killed in battle. He believes he can talk to the dead and that one day they will kill him. Of course back in this time there wasn't a word PTSD and no therapists to help. Well not without being committed to an insane asylum like Bedlam. So in other words there was no one to truly heal him or medication to take as there is in the 21st century now. Luckily he had the support and love of his family as they called themselves The Highland Knight who were there to help and protect those in need and the Crown. It made him feel less than a man for his fellow Knight to help chase his demon and nightmares away. He truly felt he would never have a woman to share his life because of the danger he possessed with these demons always chasing him.

English Lady Emilia Featherstone appeared at the Knights door for protection after having been beaten near to death by her own father, the Viscount, Lord Pinfield after snooping through his papers and finding him a traitor to the Crown. She has been whipped badly and went to the only man she trusted, Sir Colin Stirling, a man who once guarded her vicious father. When he sees the condition she is in and how a father who was a Viscount and a Noble he wanted to kill him Plus it obvious he had been beating his daughter secretly for years keeping her in isolation and away from society . Not that he ever liked Pinfield as he could see the type of man he was, but to beat his own daughter with a whip was just !reprehensible! To harm any female made him sick but his own daughter! Colin was furious and filled with rage!

The daughter was sweet, intelligent and good besides being beautiful, the exact opposite of her father. The Highland Knights knew they had to get Lady Emilia and away from London immediately and Colin volunteered and begged it to be him as it was obvious he was the only man she trusted, They decided Scotland would be the logical and safest choice and had to do it fast so some of the Knights could investigate and get the goods on the Viscount while Colin whisks her away to safely to Scotland. Yet this trip is anything but smooth sailing as they go on the pretense as husband and wife without a chaperone.

Emilia is running for her life and Colin is running from his demons! What they discover is a thing called love while he protects her life and she protects his soul. It is really beautiful how they open their hearts and are so protective and fierce of one another, but they are running out of time as her wicked father and his wicked henchmen are chasing after them too! Will Emilia finally confess all her father's sins to Colin? Something she hasn't done yet, feeling some loyalty to the man who sired her. She knows the information she has will have him hanged as a traitor of the crown. Will her father catch up and make his threat come true and murder her and possibly kill Colin too? You will have to read this exceptional story and find out.

This heart pulling, action packed, fast paced, riveting, romantic adventure is filled with intrigue, murder, mayhem, suspense, abduction and more! So many twists and turns, ups and downs that had me at the edge of my seat wondering what could possibly happen next! Just loved this story, read in one sitting as I could not put it down! as I have this entire series! Jennifer Haymore is a magnificent writer and keeps the readers fascinated from start to finish. I highly recommend Saved by the Scot by Jennifer Haymore.

A well written story which is action-packed full of intrigue and suspense. The storyline is a little traumatic with Colin suffering from PTSD and Emilia is someone who needs rescuing from a villainous father who abused her and is involved in deadly goings on that threaten her life. There wasn't much character development and the intimacy was pretty much instant with little build up which was a bit of a shame as this can be done even in life and death situations on the road where much of this story takes place. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Have read all the stories in the series. Loved this one the most. Colin’s dark past is brought up multiple times but you never know the full extent of it. But it is lovely how he related to emelia and they were able to both deal with their dark pasts

Damages and plots...

When Lady Emilia shows up, looking for help, especially from Sir Colin, the gang is all up in her business. She was beaten by her father. Colin is 31 and suffering from PTSD. Emilia is suffering from her own form of trauma (from being beaten and whipped by her father). Her father is plotting and a traitor. Colin and Emilia are drawn together as everyone races to foil the plot.
I realy liked Colin and Emilia.

I've really been enjoying the rerelease of the Highland Knights series by Jennifer Haymore. I was utterly charmed by the first book and its sequel unfortunately suffered from a severe case of missing honeyglow. Thankfully, the signature sweetness returned in the third installment, Saved by the Scot. I may be in the minority, but I adore gushy, tender romances. I don't need snarky, mean dialogue to tell me when two people are in love. Shower me with endearments, not caustic jabs. Sir Colin and Lady Emilia were the sweetest little love muffins and I was rooting for them from the first page.

Saved by the Scot had no shortage of emotional moments and I loved how adoringly our couple treated each other. This book hinted at the hero's PTSD from war while the heroine offered him solace after his nightmares. She claimed that she could comfort him as well as he protected her. She professed multiple times that he wasn't broken and couldn't scare her off no matter what. If that doesn't squeeze your heart, then I don't know what will. Saved by the Scot was so heartachingly tender and it featured some of my favorite tropes: forced proximity, romantic journey, fake marriage, and only one bed. It still irks me to no end that heroines never embrace the solitary furniture trap. Don't you dare make him sleep on the floor! His poor spine!

I don't believe there's any books left in The Highland Knights series unless she plans to release new content with the reprinting of the collection. This series is so sweet and wraps me around its wee Scottish finger every time. That's not a difficult feat when it comes to any Highlander romance and my eyeballs, but I'll give credit where it's due. I've had a spitfire of a reading experience with these kilted cuties and I'm honored to have read this complete collection. I suppose you really can say that I was Saved by the Scot all along.

An action fused on the run romance with the power to bring hope & heal!

I'm really enjoying getting sucked into this recrafted, revised series...though I can't compare them to the originals as I haven't had the pleasure...the camaraderie, deep love and loyalty of the Highland Knights and the welcoming warmth, intelligence and fortitude of the passionate ladies they fall for, seeps through into the tales and forms the perfect basis for heightening the intensity of the action as you come to really care for the individual personalities that feed into the chemistry of their very own hard won romance.
Making it so easy to be reeled in. I loved digging deeper, exposing and peeling back each of their layers as they wrestled with their vulnerabilities and Colin and Emilia's wounds were cut so heartbreakingly deep. Their scars, struggles and haunting demons formed the connective bond that could have so easily pulled them apart but became this barrier they so lovingly tackled together, moment by heart-rending moment.
The instant recognition of a tormented soul, a fellow person in need, added an easy closeness and protectiveness to their chemistry as they gleaned strength from each other. Vanishing lingering self-doubt and self-hatred as they tenderly and with brute force conquered the encroaching darkness . Born of horrors past and present as Emilia fought to overcome the mental and physical abuse of her father, his treasonous scheming and desire to hunt her to the ground to stop her exposing his secrets...which brings out Colin's core need to protect...as they adventure across country to escape the possibility of death. But in turn despite the trauma of having to be the informant on your father, she had this generous giving nature that gave Colin the hope he wasn't going mad and could lean on someone who understood his pain and share the fight to banish his haunting internal demons, caused by him suffering horrific PTSD attacks since the battle of Waterloo.
Combining into a fun, so emotionally touching, dramatic fast paced journey that will test their resilience and strength and ultimately bind them so tightly if they are brave enough to fight for each other? Even if their biggest adversary may not be the one nipping at their heels but themselves? 
An absorbing in the moment romance...loved it!

The storyline is a little sad, Emilia really needed rescuing. Colin is a Scottish knight in shining armor who is battling PTSD. And they'll both steal your heart. Can't wait for the next book.

So Sir Colin Stirling I tasked with taking Emilia to Scotland to hid from her father Ever since the Battle of Waterloo, Sir Colin Stirling has struggled with memories & nightmares that haunt him night and day, but being near to Emilia eases these.
The third book in the series & whilst it could be read on its own characters from the previous books do appear, so to fully appreciate it I’d recommend reading in order. Colin & Emilia had been attracted to each other whilst he’d been guarding her father but this attraction goes & blossoms on their journey to a safe house. Colin is a strong Scotsman but is suffering from his experiences as a soldier, Emilia also suffers nightmares from her experiences with her abusive, bully of a father. I loved how their relationship grew partly to do with close proximity but they also had days of travel to talk & get to know each other. An engrossing romance, which also had the added bonus of tracking down traitors. This book was previously published under the title Highland Temptation, The Highland Knights, book 3, and has been reissued with a new cover and content changes.

This is a love story of two people with their own emotional scars. Lady Emilia Featherstone escapes into the night from her father's home. She arrives at Highland Knights home where Sir Colin Stirling visits with his close friends. As someone is knocking loudly at the door, Colin reaches it first and see Lady Emilia, with blood straked across her clothing. She asks for help, and she is quickly granted access inside. Relieved at first Emilia begins to weep from being rescued.

Lady Campbell is asked to see to her and takes her upstairs to check for wounds. After disrobing she sees the marks on Emilias back from having been whipped. After cleaning and caring for her wounds, she returns to the men and informs them what Emila's father has done.

A plan is made to hide Emilia from her father and Colin is to discover why Emilia's father whipped her. Colin and Emilia flee to Scotland where they become close and Colins scars are revealed. But she is once again taken cruelly by her father to undo the damage that was done to his name.

Colin and Emilia will have to be strong to save each other before her father can do more harm.

I didn't read this the first time and have nothing to compare to the first publication. I really enjoyed this version. It was a fun and steamy afternoon read. I enjoyed the writing, and the characters were very likeable. I hope to read more by this author.
