Thank you Netgalley for the ARC of this book. I wish I would have known this was the second book in the series. I was. Abit lost at times but figured it out. The story was great and the characters relatable. Overall an ok read.
Wow "The Substitute Sister" was a whirlwind, in a good way.
Grace McElroy is thrown back in to the unrelenting grief, when sees a woman that looks exactly like her dead sister Stella.
Natalie Burden uncovers her father's "other family". Before she can make a connection with her half sister Grace McElroy, Grace's adopted daughter is kidnapped. The child's biological father , who has ties to Ecuador and the vicious drug trade there is the likely kidnapper. Natalie works to help find the little girl and to eventually uniting her family.
It is hard not to say too much so I will stop there. I do wish I had read closer and known this was the second in a series , as it would have made more sense earlier!
Thanks to NetGalley and XpressoTours and the author for the opportunity to read this in exchange for an honest opinion.
I definitely recommend reading the first book in the series because there are some things that I felt a little lost on but otherwise did enjoy this book.
Four years after the death of her sister, Grace is being to heal. Until one afternoon she's sure she's seen her dead sister. On top of that, she noticed someone following her. Nervous that it might be her daughter's biological father. She's convinced he's there to reclaim his daughter but before she can determine that, the little girl is kidnapped.
Meanwhile, Natalie Burden has discovered that her estranged father had another family. Natalie is thrilled to learn that she has a sister. She makes plans to meet Grace but before that can happen her mother suffers a stroke. She takes her mother's recovery time to follow her sister and discovers she's not the only one stalking her sister.
Thank you so much to the author, XpressoTours and NetGalley for this ARC to review.
