Noah's Gloomy Joyful Ark by Jill Roman Lord is a cute retelling of the beloved Bible Story geared towards toddlers. The book has beautiful pictures and is written in a way that young readers can understand and learn about Noah's Ark. Noah's Gloomy Joyful Ark is a cute book to read to young toddlers and would be perfect to read to them at anytime. Thank you to NetGalley and Publisher for the opportunity to read this book. My review is also on Goodreads.
Thank you, NetGalley and B&H Publishing Group!
This book is very cute and geared towards a very young audience. The bright and fun illustrations grabbed my one year old's attention and the rhyming words and animal sounds made for a sweet and silly read-aloud.
This book is not deep theologically but isn't intended to be. If you are looking for a Christian book for a 6mo-2yr old child, I would definitely recommend this one as a sweet and silly telling of the Noah's Ark story with some solid Biblical truths sprinkled in.
This is the cutest board book! If you are wanting your child to learn more about Noah's arc, then this would be best book for you! This would be a wonderful book for a Sunday School class or for your own home library!!!
Noah’s ark may have been a sad and gloomy place—OR—as Jill Roman Lord writes in her newest book, “It may have been a joyful ark preparing for the waves as Noah and the animals all praised the God who saves.”
With its colorful, joy-filled illustrations and rollicking rhymes, littles ones will surely love Noah’s Gloomy Joyful Ark. I highly recommend!

I was able to read this digital book on NetGalley before it's published date. I have read a lot of different picture books on Noah's Ark since I have grown up in the church & we are a Christian home. I do like how the first page talks about it being a 'gloomy day' because although we love all the animals & Noah, it was massive destruction of the population. It continues on that it was joyful day of praising God for saving them from the flood. There are a lot of good verbs used when describing the animals & time on the ark. The illustrations are colorful, although I wish they would have added pictures of his sons & their wives on the boat as well. I do like how they said how long it took for the water to recede because that always seems like a quick process in a children's book. This would be great book to have your house or for a church preschool room.
This book was cute ! Thank you net galley and the publisher for the read. It had beautiful pictures and it had good rhyming . I enjoyed this read for little kids!
This is such a cute book about how outside the ark it was scary and gloomy but inside, God kept the people and animals safe and protected. I loved how the book ended with the rainbow being a sign God has not forgotten us and will protect us. The rainbow is such a hot topic now a days and it is awesome to see a book talking about it and it's real meaning.
This is a beautifully illustrated and colorful book for children about Noah's ark. It encourages children to think about what being on the ark might have been like for the animals and for Noah and his family.
Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember my everlasting promise to every living animal on earth. Genesis 9:16
Was loading Noah's Ark a gloomy time? With bright colors and the promise that God was with those that placed their trust in them by entering the Ark, it was a joyous time. A book that displaying the goodness of God and his promises.
A special thank you to B&H Publishing and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.
