We have reached the end of an era! This is the last Mitch Rapp from Kyle Mills... Code Red is in my mind one of the best he ever wrote. Don't you worry now, there is a new guy taking over the series. Maybe you have heard of him? It's Don Bentley, I am sure he will do a great job of it. In this one Mitch is in a difficult situation. He ows a favor to a really dangerous criminal and he needs Rapp to help him out in Syria. I found the book well written as we all expect from this author. I really enjoyed reading about Mitch going undercover as a man not used to violence and trying not to show that he does now how to shoot and fight. It is also funny seing him trying to balance work with some form of family life, he should be taken of the frontlines and given another role but there is no replacement figure groomed for the part of taking over which I would love to see, like Stan training Mitch in the beginning of his career. This is a problem not only with this series but with many more out there. When the series passes a certain number of books and the age of the main character is getting up in age. I know we all love our heroes but it sometimes gets a little too much. Don't get me wrong I love this series and it's not the worst. Connellys Bosch served in Vietnam? Or take a look at Spenser by Robert Parker. I still recommend this book for all fans of thrillers and I can't wait to see what will happen next. I must thank Atria Books, Netgalley and most of all James B. Apt for his kindness in helping me get a physical copy of this book. I am a proud first time Mitch Rapp ambassador.
