I enjoyed the book and read it pretty quickly. The beginning was intriguing because you want to know how the guest and bride know each other. I enjoyed the dual timeline in this story and it was easy to follow. I did not expect the final twist but it truly helped complete the ending.
Thank you NetGalley, Kathryn Croft and Bookouture for this ARC!
This was so good. I could not put it down. I stayed up way past my bed time to finish this. 5 star read!
I just reviewed The Wedding Guest by Kathryn Croft. #TheWeddingGuest #NetGalley

Overall I felt this was a middle of the road thriller. Sorry to say this started out with a hook but did not keep me very invested. I didn't feel that the characters had much depth to them, so I never got connected to anyone. There was a looming mystery the whole time, and while it was intriguing at first, I got tired of reading vague threats and having no clues as to what they were about until very late in the book. It just got repetitive and left me feeling like I had no hints to work with to figure out what this almighty past secret was. The writing and dialogue was also kind of cheesy at times. The twist was surprising, but I was also kind of confused about how this impacted some of the smaller details throughout the book- it didn't quite follow and therefore lost some of its shock value on me.
Thank you to netgallry and boukouture for this ARC in exchange for my honest review!
What a ride! I thought I knew what was happening in this one, but it definitely caught me by surprise at the end. This one was hard to put down, very engaging.
Fantastic Read!! First, I loved the characters and how easy it was to relate with them. I found it to be an unputdownable read with lots of twists and turns!! Easy, fast read with great characters and plot!! I highly recommend this book!
Thanks to NetGalley, Kathryn Croft and Bookouture for the chance to read this book and give my review!!
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for providing this arc in exchange for an honest review.
Emily is happily marrying Jeremy and becoming stepmom to his daughter. During their wedding in Greece, Christian, a man from Emily’s past, turns up and claims to be an old friend of Emily’s. She is not happy to see him as he knows a dark secret from her past and wants to make her pay.
I have read all of this author’s books and enjoyed most of them a great deal. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case with this one. I just didn’t think anyone’s behavior was logical and the explanations for their behavior weren’t satisfying. The big secret wasn’t that exciting. There was an abrupt realization that some of what we thought was true wasn’t, which usually I am a big fan of but it fell flat here. This was one of those books where the main character constantly eludes to this big secret and pointlessly thinks they will manage to avoid the consequences and of course they fail. I still like this author but this one wasn’t good.
Many thanks to NetGalley, Bookouture and Katherine Croft for the chance to read this exciting book. It has you hooked in from page one to the very end. The story is told in the before and after style starting with a wedding between Emily and Jeremy. Then someone from Emily's past shows up at the wedding and installs himself into her new life dire with consequences. Disaster follows. The story moves quickly, the characters are all flawed and the tension mounts as the twists are revealed. It's a story full of lies, deception and redemption. I will gladly recommend this book.
Emily and Jeremy are about to get married and become the perfect family along with Jeremy’s daughter Lexi. However, a blast from Emily’s past turns up uninvited and threatens to disrupt her new life.
I’ll be honest, this formula is so overused in the thriller genre. Woman moves on in life and an ex boyfriend/husband comes back on the scene to ruin it, which is pretty much this plot line.
Although it was an easy read and told in duel perspectives—which I’m a huge fan of, it was also very average. I didn’t love any of the characters and struggled to relate. This is the third book of Kathryn’s that I’ve read and not entirely enjoyed. I’m of the opinion this author’s work is just not engaging enough for me. I’m giving two stars for the ending because it was the best part of the book.
Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for providing me with an ARC in return for my honest review.
Wow! Kathryn Croft hits it out of the park! I loved the characters in this one. Packed with twists and turns that started early on and just never quit
Thank you NetGalley, Kathryn Croft and Bookouture for the opportunity to read and review this book
Firstly, I would like to thank Kathryn Croft, NetGalley, and Bookouture for an early copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This book is about a woman who has many secrets who recently married a pilot with a preteen daughter. A man from her past has recently come into her life determined to make it miserable.
Told in before/after style timelines the story of the past comes out.
The characters weren’t super likeable, and the twist at the end wasn’t that twisty. I did enjoy it for what it was though.
Characters : 2/5
Plot: 3/5
Twist: 2/5
Emily is on the beach having just married Jeremy in apparently idyllic circumstances when an unexpected wedding guest shows up. Christian claims to be an old friend of Emily’s and from that moment on her life seemed doomed to spiral to disaster.
Back in London, Christian inserts himself into Emily’s marriage and her relationship her step daughter. Not for the first time in Kathryn Croft books we meet in laws based in Reading.
As I’ve come to expect from this author, this is a rapid read which keeps you hooked through twists that are not as convincing as the high standards I’ve enjoyed in other books of hers this week - but it may be me since I’m on a bit of a Kathryn Croft binge this week!
Wow let me start off by saying this book took a complete turn from how I thought it was going to end. I like how it goes from present day and then goes back to younger days. It switches back and forth telling a story of how Emily got married and started a family and then a secret guest shows up from her past and basically tells her he’s going to ruin her life for what had happened in the past. It goes on to back when she was in college and how she met this person and how things went, and it kept going from one chapter of her life to another. I definitely did not see the ending the way it turned out. Took me by complete shock. I really enjoyed this book. I couldn’t put it down.
Wow! This book had me on edge the whole way through. I was so tense and worried for Emily that Christian was going to harm her or her new family. The writing is superb.
Emily has just got married to Jeremy and is stepmother to his 10 year old daughter, Lexi. When they get married in an idyllic beach setting in Greece, she couldn't be happier. Until, that is, she sees an unwanted guest from her past - Christian - who threatens to expose her secrets if she does not do what he wants.
The story takes us back to Emily's uni days where she meets Christian and how her mother controls her. It goes back and forward between this time and the present and links really well.
No spoilers, but some brilliant twists and turns along the way. Another fantastic read from Kathryn Croft. 5⭐️
My perfect day his chance for revenge.
Very twisty psychological thriller.
Emma Thomas Jeremy Jordan are about to marry,
No skeletons, no lies, eyes wide open, yet Emily is lying she is not the woman he thinks she is.
Christian Holmes is standing there as she turns around, smiling at her and is walking right up to them both.
Not now, not here, not on her wedding day, this is only the beginning of a nightmare.
Wow! Amazing! Gosh! what a book this turned out to be, mind blowing chapters that freaked me out.
An unputdownable read to take your breathe away
Fast paced and suspense galore. You have to keep reading to find out how this messy situation will play out. A grand slam of a finally that will leave your jaw dropping.
A whirlwind from the get go. New twists and turns with every page.
I did find the main character a little implausible and ridiculous at times with the behaviour and choices but it didn’t really retract from the read.
Over all it was a great read.
I really liked that this book starts off immediately with the suspense. Who is this mystery man showing up at a destination wedding uninvited? What information does he have on the bride? How can he so easily slide into their lives as if he belongs?
This book had me wondering the whole time just what Emily had done to make Christian so angry and obsessed with her. The book started off strong for me but lost me a little in the middle. I liked how Christian was portrayed but for some reason I didn’t really like Emily so the book didn’t grab my attention. The big twist reveal at the end however saved the book for me. I didn’t see it coming and really liked the direction the book went.
I received an advanced copy of this book from Bookouture via NetGalley.
In the midst of the anticipation surrounding her impending marriage, Emily harbors a truth that threatens to upend the life she's about to commit to. When an unexpected presence among her cherished guests, seated amidst those who hold her dearest, this uninvited figure possesses knowledge of a harrowing event that transpired a decade ago. This person, who seems determined to deny her any happiness, holds the power to expose her deepest secrets. The realization dawns that her past, no matter how fervently she tries to escape it, continues to haunt her.
The question is how to thwart an adversary who appears relentless in their mission to dismantle the life she's worked so hard to construct. And in the face of this relentless pursuit, she must grapple with the lengths she's willing to go to safeguard her carefully guarded secrets.
I found the initial sections of the book far more engaging than its conclusion, particularly in regard to Emily's interactions with Jeremy and Lexi. As the narrative progressed towards its finale, I noticed a sense of rushed pacing, and the ending struck me as somewhat strange.
Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC! }This is my second book by this author, and she really knows how to add some twists! There is so much happening in this thriller. It has murder, emotional abuse, obsession, and lies, lies, lies! The protagonist is horrified when a troubled person from her past appears at her wedding of all places! What does he want? The answer is a long tale that weaves many subplots. Interesting book!
This is a psychological thriller by one of my favourite authors Kathryn Croft.
Emily is lying to the Jeremy, the man she is about to marry. He does not know the secrets she has tried to keep from him. Emily hopes to start a fresh leaving behind her dark past by marrying Jeremy but as she is about to say her vows she spies an uninvited guest who knows the truth about her and the past she has tried so hard hide. Emily is positive this man wants to stop her starting a new life.
I enjoyed the novel but due to the very high standards I have gotten to expect from Kathryn Croft it fell a little short of my expectations.
I would like to thank both Netgalley and Bookouture for supplying a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.
Emily is getting married when she sees a man from her past at her wedding. Christian definition was not invited to the wedding This was a fast paced thriller full of twists and turns. The twists in this book were definitely unexpected. I was definitely not disappointed.
