I just really wanted more from these characters.
It was cute but not one that I had to sit and read in one sitting.

Thanks NetGalley for this ARC.

I struggled so hard with this book that I DNF’d at 36%

Every character is cringey. They’re over the top versions of their tropes: the hot mess express FMC, the wants to see other people ex boyfriend, the strong-willed lesbian friend, the spacey parents, and the most unrealistic hippie MMC.

What kept throwing me out of the story was Lee’s descriptions of the babies. Bowie is three months old. June is seven months old. Yet, she’s describing both of them doing things babies at that age cannot do (like being each other toys to share). It’s like she’s never touched a baby? Or perhaps seen one?

The plot is there. I connect to messy characters that just need someone to see and love them as they are. But I just could not do this.

this felt like the romance itself was more of a side plot to the family dynamics that take place in this book but when the relationship itself started to develop that’s when i felt myself become more invested and they certainly delivered on the spice so if that’s what you’re into, look no further!

After being rejected by the father of her newborn baby, Hannah Tate needs a new plan. Left with little choice but to return to the mountain town she left behind, she moves back in with her mother (G-ma) and stepfather (Big Daddy) with baby Bowie in tow. Though their role as attentive and loving grandparents proves helpful, Hannah can't help but feel conflicted after all the times they disappointed her as a child. Thanks to a design project and an unexpected connection with the handsome neighbor, Hannah's journey home continues to surprise.

3.5 ★ — release date: February 13, 2024

Though the romance did take a bit of a backseat in comparison to the emphasis on Hannah's family dynamics and growth, Hannah Tate, Beyond Repair ended up being a sweet story that emphasizes the importance of community and prioritizing your happiness. The side characters added such substance to the plot as each supported her progress in their own way. From faithful friends to new loves, Hannah found herself surrounded by support and kindness that allowed her to prosper and shine. I would certainly recommend this book to readers who enjoy a single parent, small town romance and value character development.

Thanks to NetGalley, Union Square & Co. and Laura Piper Lee for this eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Hannah Tate, Beyond Repair is a lighthearted RomCom. Hannah finds herself homeless, jobless, and single after her baby daddy breaks up with her during their anniversary dinner. She has to move in with her parents, who are not the most responsible adults, while she figures out her next move. But she ends up finding herself again in this new small town. Her parents turn out to be such a big help, and she's able to help them build a successful Airbnb business. This leads her to fall for River, the technology-averse carpenter who just so happens to be her neighbor.

One of my favorite parts of this book was Hannah's friends, Kira and Mattie. They are the epitome of what true and supportive friends should be.

Overall, i felt we didn't really get to know River all that well and I didn't feel a strong connection between Hannah and River. There was more chemistry with with baby daddy, Killian.

Hannah Tate is a mess...but she knows it. She also knows her routine with new baby Bowie and boyfriend of 3 years Killian. When she finds a ring while looking for the infant's tossed binky, she's sure Killian is going to propose! Unfortunately for Hannah, the only thing he's proposing is that they sleep in separate rooms, she pays him rent, and they do what he's calling "conscious co-parenting."

I glared at Killian for her.

She's got best friends (a lesbian couple with an infant!) who help her move back home to help her parents fix up an Airbnb. She meets their neighbor and local carpenter, who may help her out in more ways than one. *WINK*

I enjoyed this novel and flew through it. There were some scenes that had me cracking up; some had me cringing. Some were outlandish and the characters got a little too monologue-y at times. It was exactly what I was expecting and why I love watching and reading romcoms. Will read again when I need to go back and visit River.

This book is a story about a messy down-on-her-luck Mama who's just trying it figure it out. Aren't we all, though? 😂 I laughed, I cried, and I laughed some more while reading this.
When I tell you this book had me laughing out loud as my toddler rolled around next to me, I'm not lying. Hannah Tate was so relatable, not only as a mother, but as an adult woman as well. You'll love her complicated relationship with her Mom, Step-Dad, and Ex because it's so realistic.
Hannah and River's relationship was also a great slow-burn. River was such a gentle soul that took care of Hannah's heart, and I loved watching him swoon over her interior design skills.
I'd say my only issue with the book was that it could have had a little more moments with Hannah and River to really sell their relationship. The timeline moved quickly once they acknowledged their feelings, and I found myself wanting a bit more. But honestly, they were so cute it didn't bother me much.

Hannah Tate believes that she is "beyond repair," but she is perfect in the eyes of everyone but her baby daddy. While Killian may seem to be the guy who wants to make things work, he is not. He is someone that puts you down without making it obvious, a real jackass, if you know what I mean. It is nice to have someone in a story like that because, in reality, those types of men or women do exist. More often than not, though, they do not realize how messed up they are and try to rekindle their original love, but in this book, that happens. Too bad Hannah's mama's neighbor comes to save the day for Hannah and Bowie. The rest is puzzled together so that the pieces fit perfectly, although they may not seem like they are going to.

Laura Piper Lee can contort the life of people affected by familial trauma in a way that makes it poetic. A method that makes it relatable for people in the real world. This book is not the princess and prince fairytale. This book is raw with real emotions and an unbreakable connection between off of the main characters featured. This book was excellently written, and should be read in all the types of book clubs one it is released for everyone to enjoy!

So it took me awhile to read this to be quite honest. The plot started off slightly confusing and not sure if maybe it was my app or what but the text kind of was weird for some of the parts of the book. The couple was an interesting one and I feel like as a reader I didnt get enough on River to actually understand him the way I did with Killian and Hannah. I did enjoy different parts of it but over the course of the book I just felt like it was alot of information and caused me to have to stop and reread a few times.

Thanks so much for letting me read it! 😊

Hannah has been with Killian three years. They have a baby together and when Hannah finds a ring in his boots, she expects him to finally propose. She is surprised he is breaking up with her. She has also been fired from her job. Furious, she takes Bowie and heads for her mother and stepfather’s house in the Blue Ridge Mountains. They purchased a cabin and hope to renovate the rooms downstairs into an Airbnb. Staying with her parents is much more interesting when their neighbor, River, comes around and offers to help with renovations. Hannah struggles with the idea of family, wanting a strong family for Bowie, unlike the disjointed family life she lived with her mother. This is a great book. Hannah’s friends are wonderful, and I love how those who were not blood relatives became a strong loving family. The community of people was interesting and unique adding a lot to the story. Lots of love and fun in this book.

AHHHH I don't even know where to start the gushing! I started this book yesterday afternoon and ended up staying up late to finish it. It has everything I never knew I needed in a romance: a new mom MC whose life feels totally out of control, an MC + LI FIXING UP AN ADORABLE AIR B&B TOGETHER, a lovely friend group that is not only supportive of the MC but needs support at times, a complex and well-developed family dynamic, and many, many laugh-out-loud moments (okay, I *did* know I need that last thing in a romance, and Hannah Tate, Beyond Repair totally delivered)!

As mother to two kids under 5 (4yo & 1.5yo), I really, really appreciated that a new mom in her 30's (and who is still breastfeeding) got to be the star of a romance. That alone brought tears to my eyes, and it's just one of the many things I loved about the story.

I absolutely adored this book. It's out Feb 13, 2024, and I highly recommend it for fans of Rachel Lynn Solomon and Emily Henry. Am immediately adding Laura Piper Lee to my list of romance author faves. Will read anything and everything she writes!!

Hannah Tate is a mess. Or her life is at least. After being broken up by her boyfriend and the father of her newborn child, being (illegally) fired from her job, and moving back in with her not-so-reliable parents Hannah can’t seem to catch a break. But when one door closes another seems to open and Hannah is given the chance to break free of the beige filled like she had dreamed for herself. She also may get a new partner to spend her life with. River is a treehouse-living, technology-averse, yoga-loving carpenter who just so happens to be neighbors with Hannah’s parents. I felt that Rivers's backstory was lacking. His past was hinted at but never unpacked.

As per @newlynova on TikTok romance couples divorce probably tier list I would rate Hannah and River as a “High-Risk Cursed Couple”. There were times when I preferred Killian to River. They may make it but they just do not seem compatible for the long run. Their romance just didn’t seem realistic to me.

The shining stars for me were Kira and Mattie I loved them the most!
