Great book! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one! This book had a bit of everything! It had suspense, intrigue, action, murder, gas lighting, and some crazy twists and turns! The storyline was so very interesting and had me glued to my Kindle! I highly recommend reading this book as it was well worth reading! I devoured this book in a day and really enjoyed it. It was full of twists that I did not see coming. The only thing I disliked was that part 2 was repetitive of part one, adding in a few extra details.

Alice and her partner, Richard, had planned to set sail for the next several years, after retiring. A few days before they were due to set sail, Sally appeared at their doorstep claiming to be a long lost daughter of Richard’s daughter. Alice gets a very uneasy feeling about Sally and digs around. What she discovers is very unsettling.

My first read by this author and WOW amazing. I read this in one sitting because I simply couldn’t put it down. It was a heart pounding thriller with lots of twists I didn’t know what was king to happen next.


Alice and Richard are about to go sailing around the Mediterranean. When Sally knocks on their door claiming to be Richards daughter who was adopted at birth. Alice doesn’t trust her is she right not to who is Sally and what does she want.

Fantastic gripping thriller which I highly recommend.

Wow!! I read this in one sitting because I simply couldn’t put it down. This was my second book by the author JJ and she is the absolute master of the pulse pounding thriller!!

Alice and her partner Richard have both retired, and are getting ready to sail the seas of Europe on their sail boat. But as the countdown is coming to a close, something strange happens. A young woman named Sally appears on their doorstep claiming to be Richard’s biological daughter. But something feels off to Alice and as she begins to weave the web together, what she finds is truly shocking. As the days dwindle down to leaving day, Alice must make a choice on how she will confront Richard about all that she’s found out.

I will say I did figure out the twist before it came, but nonetheless the story and plot line was soooo good. I do wish we had some more clarification about unanswered questions concerning Richard at the end, but I still thoroughly enjoyed this book!

Holy cow. I was lost for words at the end of part 1. But with part 2, I was completely speechless & shell shocked. I wasn’t expecting to read the turmoil that followed. All in all the book was amazing. The storyline never swayed, the characters were amazing (even the bad guys), and the ending was absolutely perfect.

This was my first time reading a book by JJ Burgess, but it definitely won't be my last! I loved The Adopted Daughter. There were so many twists, I never knew what was going to happen! I love the way the author told the story, counting down the days and then going back in time- so unique. The ending was my favorite part. I just finished and have already downloaded more books by the author!

There were a few stories going on and then they connected. Richard was the most Evil character I have read in a long time. Pulse racing so many times in this book. What an Awesome ending, just FANTASTIC!!!!! Left me with a Big smile!.

Wow!. This book took me for a loop just when you thought it was going in one direction, it took you in another and I was amazed. The only complaint is I didn’t really care for Alice and richards backstory much but it was a good book and I would recommend

I really liked this book and I read it in 1 sitting, Alice and Richard are about to go sailing around the Mediterranean as Richard is taking early retirement only for Sally to knock on their door claiming to be Richards daughter who was adopted at birth…. But Is she really who she says she is?
So many twists and turns in this book, a whole lot of lies and deception, I was gripped from the first page and I’d definitely recommend it, I look forward to reading more from the author
