'Brynn and Sebastian Hate Each Other' is, about disgraced morning show host Brynn trying to salvage her reputation in her hometown, where she is thrown into the path of Sebastian, a former investigative journalist. It has a lot of the fun tropes like enemies(or at least actively disliking each other)-to-lovers with small town vibes (Adelaide Springs felt like a mountainous Stars Hollow to me). I really enjoyed this audiobook, it was a fun and easy listen.

The narration for this audiobook is expressive and engaging, Talon David was able to communicate both Brynn and Sebastian’s sides of the story well. There was great flow in the narration, with appropriate pauses, emphasis and variation in pitch and volume, additionally there was no awkward pronunciations or grating accents. I do usually prefer having two narrators when a story is a dual point of view such as this, I find that it increases the immersion and gives each of the characters a little bit more identity. However, one narrator for both points of view wasn’t bad it did give the story a sense of consistency.

The writing was appealing, it was easy to follow and entertaining. I really liked the characterisation, Brynn’s in particular was relatable in a lot of ways, such as having a complicated history with your hometown and attaching it to some of the trauma you endured, or, being willing to put on a persona at work in order to get ahead (particularly when you are a young woman working in a male dominated industry) and remaining passive. I was able to sympathise with her and really want to see her succeed even when she was a bit rude and polarising.

One very minor criticism is that a lot of elements in the plot were predictable, however, I found comfort in the structure of the narrative. Additionally I wish there was a bit more set up between Brynn and Sebastian, I liked how they both worked on improving themselves throughout the story, but wish there has been a few more moments between just the two of them.

Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson and Zondervan Audio for giving me the opportunity to listen to this audiobook in exchange for an honest review, these thoughts are all my own.

Who doesn’t love an enemies to lovers story?? Brynn and Sebastian may have hated each other but these two had hate that was full of passion and similarities. They related to each other in deeper levels that they both tried to ignore. This redemption story for Brynn was full of moments that helped build the slow burn romance between her and Sebastian. I enjoyed how we had dual points of view and could get the inner dialogue of both main characters. The ending was perfect for these two, and I really feel the characters developed over the course of the story.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my review. 4 🌟s.

This was my first audio book for NetGalley.
I do love the enemies to lovers story line and small town charm. This one did take me a little bit to get into. Once I did though, the story did flow quite well. Brynn and Sebastian are enemies who are then forced to work together. Sebastian being assigned to drive Brynn around. Brynn has to face many old demons, especially in her home town, She has to convince her home town to forgive her after she said some wrong things on air. Brynn is a morning show host and she let some not nice things of her home town slip on air.
Will Brynn and Sebastian learn to become friends? Will Brynn's hometown forgive?
Listen to Brynn and Sebastian Hate Each other to find out! Stick it out through the whole book, you will be glad you did.

Fun, light, heartwarming story of a reporter who finds herself in a hole she must dig herself out of. That requires her to face her demons and head to the place she vowed never to return to: the town where she grew up.

Turns out that going back to the scene of the crime is what she needed to reconnect with herself, face her past, and find her true self.

Along the way? She finds friends again. And love.

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.

Overall, Brynn and Sebastian Hate Each Other was not for me. The story was very cheesy, the characters were unlikable, and it gave hallmark vibes. If you are looking for a Hallmark vibe book this might be for you. It was a slow burn and slow pace. The writing was elementary. The story has a lot of unnecessary explaining.

🌟🌟🌟/5

Brynn and Sebastian hate each other was an enjoyable rollercoaster.

Brynn is a host for a sunny morning-show and her tv persona is this sweet and kind girl that loves everyone when in reality she is much more opinionated (and to be honest a brat) than what she is forced to show.
One a mistake uncovers her real personality and she is force to visit her tiny hometown she left twenty years prior to make amends.
There she meets Sebastian, the only newcomer in the city since she left. Everyone seems to like him but the two immediately dislike each other.

For the first 57% of the book I HATED Brynn. She was disrespectful, unpolite and generally a brat, so much so that I want to slap her in the face every time she opened her mouth, but as the story unravels she begins to open up with the city, her old friends and Sebastian and I really enjoyed the last 43%.
I think it is very unusual to have the main character so unlikable but all worked by the end.
Sebastian, on the other end, was perfect since page 1 and I loved him instantly.

I think the timeline of this book was a little rushed…
Everything takes place in the span of a week and this should be ´enemies to lovers ´ meaning they are actually enemies for like three days.

👎 One thing I really didn´t like:
Why Brynn chapters were written in first person and Seb´s in third?!? It didn´t make sense to me really.

👍Things I particularly like:
- I´m a sucker for pop culture and I loved all the reference the author makes.
- The author really makes you feel like you are in a small town in the middle of the mountains. The vibes were there and I know have the urge to go on a road trip in the middle of nowhere.
- The voice actress was really good.

Overall it was a fun listen and if you enjoy small town romances this is for you.

This was a good book and the audio was done well.

The FMC though was so obnoxiously annoying and I just never felt connected to or got over it. I like how it came together in the end, but her whole personality was just mean girl feeling. The MMC was a little better. Their instahate of each other and childish way of hanging on to that felt unrealistic. Despite the characters being hard for me personally to connect to the story was still really well written and well plotted.

Enemies to lovers, Seb and Brynn were definitely an interesting couple. I usually don’t do audio books because I prefer to read instead but the cover drew me in so I wanted to give it a shot. I dont particularly care for Brynn from the start of the book to the end. She has some potential character wise but I just couldn't seem to grow to like her at all. I did enjoy the cute love story once it happen just felt like the book took forever to get there. Thanks so much for letting me read your work!

2 stars for this opposites attract, grumpy/sunshine, small town, forced proximity enemies to lovers "love story."

I adore the enemies to lovers, forced proximity, and grumpy/sunshine tropes, but "Brynn and Sebastian Hate Each Other" by Bethany Turner didn't capture my interest. It feels like nothing consequential happens until well over 75% into the story. My main issue with this book is it is exceedingly difficult to connect to or care about these characters. The first chapter sets the tone for the entire book, and it also sets up Brynn as a character. Brynn is rude, annoying, selfish, and as much as I hate to say it, not so bright. I did not bond with her as a character at all. Sebastian has a chip on his shoulder that hardly dissipates, even with time. He's bossy and arrogant, and though I was able to identify with him the longer the book went on, I still didn't love him as a main male character. I appreciate the h3ll out of characters with their flaws on full display, but to me, these two individuals feel like they are all flaws. I never felt any chemistry between Brynn and Sebastian, which is the entire point of a love story. Without that, what's the point? Even when there are instances where readers are supposed to feel this immense connection between them as they (VERY VERY VERY SLOWLY) warm up to one another the longer they work together, I felt absolutely nothing. That's another thing: Brynn and Sebastian go from loathing each other to loving each other in the span of what feels like five minutes! What?! Where's the mystery and build-up? Where's the intrigue? Where's the pining? I got none of that here. There are also so many side characters within the town of Adelaide Springs, CO that I started to get confused as to who was who. The entire novel revolves around Brynn atoning in person for her on-screen television news faux pas where she talked badly about Adelaide Springs on a hot mic. Once she gets there, she wants to help revive the town's "township days" and promote it on the news to help revive the town in some way. This entire plot point ends with a fizzle. It's also bizarre that only Brynn has a first-person point of view, while Sebsatian's takes place in the third person. It was jarring to go back and forth and I never really got used to it. Luckily, Talon David did a great job as the audiobook narrator. It's not her fault she couldn't elevate the material. I think this story could have worked better as a novella, but as it stands, it is much too long and far too boring for a full-length text. I HAVE TO stop picking and choosing books based on their cutesy names and covers because I have been burned so many times lately. Skip this one.

Thank you to NetGalley, Thomas Nelson, and Bethany Turner for the complimentary ARC of this book. All opinions are my own. I was not compensated for this review.

Thank you netgalley for the free alc in exchange for honest review. I tried to stick with it however only made it to 68% before dnfing it. I had the speed at 2x and felt too slow and confusing and ultimately like other similar books. This is my first by the author.

I really enjoyed this enemies to lovers, small town romance that sees a big shot morning show host trying to recover her reputation after accidentally bashing her tiny Colorado hometown live on air.

Brynn hasn't been back home in YEARS and doesn't even know if anyone there will welcome her return but she has one chance to redeem herself if she can convince the town to forgive her. She gets off on the wrong foot right away though when she keeps saying the wrong things around Sebastian, the man acting as her chauffeur.

Slowly Brynn and Sebastian start to warm up to one another as she tries to convince him the town should revive a beloved Festival tradition. While I felt their romance went from zero to insta love a little too fast for my tastes the two did have great banter and chemistry and helped one another realize happiness is possible if you take a chance on trying something new.

Good on audio with a fun epilogue. This is perfect for fans of authors like Sarah Adams or Courtney Walsh. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early digital and audio copy in exchange for my honest review!
