After an on-air debacle, morning-show host Brynn Cornell has no other choice than to go back to her hometown to make a very public apology that will hopefully help her win back her viewers' affection.
She's welcomed by Sebastian, a former journalist who, like most locals, isn't too happy with her.
Brynn's got one week to earn her former friends and neighbours' forgiveness, before going back to her life in the city. But as the days pass, she gets closer to Sebastian and they both learn that there's more to Brynn and Sebastian than meets the eye.
This was an okay, feel-good book that reminded me of "Beach Read". Nothing groundbreaking or very original, but one does have a good time reading it. I wouldn't necessarily recommend it to those who are looking for a proper "enemies to lovers trope", Brynn and Sebastian just dislike each other for a day or two (I expected more, given the title). However, if you like small town romance, this one's for you, the little stories and interactions between the townspeople are wholesome and heartwarming !
🎧 Audiobook narration : 4/5 great work.
Thank you NetGalley and Thomas Nelson and Zondervan Audio for providing me with this audiobook for review consideration. All opinions are my own.
Brynn and Sebastian: Hate Each Other" was a delightful and engaging romantic comedy. The passionate hate-love dynamic between Brynn and Sebastian propels the story forward as they navigate forgiveness, a whole town's opinion, and even a natural disaster. I found myself rooting for these characters to finally come together, and the ending was absolutely heartwarming. The narration was superb, effectively maintaining the story's momentum. Thank you NetGalley for this ARC
Brynn & Sebastian is one of my top reads of the year! Their relationship is so endearing! And the town of Adelaide Springs is the most charming town! I need more!!
An enemies to lovers story that reminds you to remember where you came from and be truthful to who you really are. The characters were amusing.
I really wanted to appreciate this book because I enjoy stories of enemies-to-lovers and dark clouds turning into bright sun. To my surprise, I found myself rooting for the gloomy guy and disliking the "bright" one. It got old waiting for the protagonist to grow up and stop being like a brat. In my opinion, she developed slowly as a person. The book avoided the tired trope of enemies-to-lovers. Instead, it felt too rapid for the characters to start liking each other after they spent their first time alone together. In the beginning, I found it hard to care about what was happening and I really didn't like Brynn Cornell. I tried my hardest to avoid a DNF and finish the race. The second half of the book was much better, and I found myself caring about the characters and their little community.
Brief Synopsis:
Cornell is a news show anchor. She loses all credibility with a single false statement about her hometown. To salvage her image and keep her audience, she plans to film an apology video in the same place she fled 20 years ago. She meets Sebastian Sudworth, a gloomy former journalist who, for whatever reason, decided to leave his life behind in New York City and start over in Adelaide Springs, Colorado. He becomes Brynn's chauffeur despite his dislike of her. Brynn knows that if she wants to get her former position back, she has to win over the people of the town, especially Sebastian. The two of them could become inseparable if she can win his heart.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ Liked it, fun while I was reading it
This contemporary romance tells the story of Brynn Cornell, cohost of the popular morning show Sunup. She's America's Ray of Sunshine—until she makes a huge on-air mistake exposing her snarky side causing it all to come crumbling down.
Now she’s back in her hometown of Adelaide Springs, Colorado, in a last-ditch attempt to convince viewers she’s not the mean girl they think she is where she meets Sebastian Sudworth who is assigned to chauffeur her around town. She's sure he can see right through her carefully cultivated, sunny persona. But is determined to do what it takes to maintain her image and save her career.
I had a hard time caring about anyone in the first half of the book. Brynn was pretty annoying and Sebastian was pretty off putting. Somehow, with all that, the second half was sweet and I found myself rooting for both of them in the end.
The narrator, Talon David, did a good job, I had no trouble understanding who was saying what, where, when, and with what expression/intension.
Thank you to Thomas Nelson, NetGalley, and author Bethany Turner for providing me with a digital ARC copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review. Brynn and Sebastian Hate Each Other is out September 5, 2023.
Thanks to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson and Zondervan Audio for the chance to listen to this audiobook.
This is an enemies to lovers style book centring about Brynn and Sebastian.
Brynn is the sunny host of a national morning show who gets caught out saying unkind things about the town she grew up in. She doesn't really feel that way about the town or its people but thinks negatively to avoid feeling homesick.
Sebastian is a relative newcomer to the town who is escaping his past that was bad for his emotional and mental well-being. He loves the small town of Adelaide Springs and is not keen on Brynn after her comments.
They are stuck together when Brynn comes to town for career damage control. They begrudgingly get to know each other, and things go from there.
This was an easy story to listen to and follow. Though I do feel it would be even better if there was a male narrator as well. It would have added to the story as sometimes the change between characters didn't feel overly smooth - especially when narrating the older men. Overall though agreat story and narration.

The voice actors who worked on this audiobook were fantastic! They really tapped in to the emotions played out in this story.
However, the plot itself was very slow-going for me. I didn’t really get sucked into the mountainous small-town romance.
I also found the character a little hard to relate to. Brynn in particular was a hard sell for me.
Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson FICTION for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I absolutely loved this story. A fun enemies to lovers tale that was inspiring and swoon-worthy. Five stars for sure.
Thank you NetGalley and publisher for this ARC audiobook for an honest review.
This was a fun book with quirky, and endearing side characters! Though in the beginning, our heroine was hard to truly like. Thankfully, there is character growth, and our grumpy hero is really a cinnamon roll. Both of our main characters have a deeper backstory that gives you better insight into their character. I enjoyed the banter and the development between Brynn and Sebatian. I adored the full circle ending!

Audiobook Review:
This was such a good story! I enjoyed it immensely. It is a slow burn, enemies to love story. Both the main characters had difficulties in their pasts that shaped their present lives and threw up walls to their futures. As they spent time together, against their will initially, they both had to process and open up. They also learned what they really wanted for themselves. The story was as much about their personal journeys as it was about the romance. Both Brynn and Sebastian had good and bad characteristics, but as we came to understand more and more about them and what shaped them, it was impossible not to cheer for them. There were also a lot of fun secondary characters and I’m excited to see more from them as i understand that there will be a second book. The ending was sweet and felt triumphant in a way. I loved the story.
I generally prefer dual narrators, but a good single narrator can make me forget all about that. That was the case with this audiobook. The narrator is excellent. She conveys the story and emotions well with good inflection and a consistent volume level. Her voices for other characters, especially Sebastian, were very good. I’m even going to look for other books narrated by her. Honestly, probably one of my favourite single narrators I’ve heard.
There is content about trauma from past genocide and atrocities, as well as parental neglect and emotional mistreatment, and marital breakdown. This is a closed door story with no harsh language.

Great enemies-to-lovers story that had everything I needed! Even more enjoyable with a hot tea and mountain view :)
This was a super unique enemies to lovers. I haven’t read a book with a plot similar to this before so I really enjoyed it. I didn’t feel as much chemistry though! I think because it was such a quick read. Definitely worth the read though and the ending was adorable
Brynn and Sebastian Hate Each Ohter has an enormous potential. When I read the summary, I was already happy for a grumpy-sunshite-hate-to-love romance, but I got a bit disappointed to be honnest. I didn't really got attached to the characters. I liked Brynn a bit more than Sebastian though. Actually, Sebastian felt a bit empty, I couldn't really catch his personnality, how he felt about anything. I don't know, I don't think the book is bad, actually I think it's pretty good, like you will probably spend a nice time, but it juste didn't click with me.
Thank you NetGalley for the advanced audiobook. Brynn and Sebastian Hate Each Other by Bethany Turner is a typical romance. Boy meets girl. Boy hates girl. Boy falls head over heels for girl but will he be willing to risk himself for her? I found this story to not really go anywhere. We all know that celebrities have a persona that they want to uphold. So the fact that Brynn acted like an superficial adult didn’t seem so out of the ordinary. The plot also was nothing out of the ordinary. Growing up in a small town, she wanted nothing but to get out without giving a second thought to those she would hurt in the process. I did, however, really enjoy the narrator Talon David. The expression she added to the characters made them more believable. I was really able to understand how Sebastian felt whenever he spoke of his past. Overall, not bad but not something I would listen to again.
Brynn is so annoying! I dislike her most of the time but Sebastian is amazing, which made the book enjoyable. I love the banter between them. I also love that Brynn realized how arrogant she is and was grounded with all that happened to her.
Thanks once again!
Brynn is a sunny TV host. Sebastion is a grumpy ex-journalist. After Brynn makes a mistake on air, bashing her hometown, she needs to go back home and do damage control. Sebastian, one of the town's spoke persons, is expected to drive her around town while she films her way through saving her career.
While I get the whole point of Brynn faking her sunny persona for viewers and career advancement, as well as giving a whole new twist to the sunshine archetype, I just really didn't like her. At no point in the story did I find myself rooting for her. I resonated with Sebastion so much more. Loved him and how he's grown in the town.
I reviewed the audiobook, and I can only give credit to the wonderful narration by Talon. The way she brought these characters and the entire story to live with nothing but her voice is something I truly admire.
My biggest ick with this story was the fact that the chapters with Sebastian's POV were written in the third person while Brynn's were written in the first person. I get how this might make it clear whose POV it is, but it really threw me off.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Brynn Cornell is the it girl of morning television and her job is to make everyone love her. When one day she was talking to her cohost thinking the cameras were off and she was caught trash talking her home down and everyone saw it. Now her good likeable character was ruined and she has to do major damage control to get things back on track. She comes up with the idea to go to her home town and show if the town can forgive her and it was a mistake she's a good person. The thing is she hasn't been back since she left at 18 and hasn't looked back or stayed in touch with anyone.
So to think she will be welcome back with open arms is a joke.
Sebastian Sudworth has been living in this town for the last few years and he loves the simple of the town and is protected of the people and the town. He used to be a big time reporter and one accident made him leave it all behind. They get stuck together and she has no idea who he once once. Can she turn the town and him around that she's a good person?
Listen it wasn't until close to the end I came a little bit around to her. She was very unlikeable as a reader and a brat and honestly I wasn't rooting for her. This was the main thing about the book that turned me off to it. Cause all she cared about was herself and didn't care for her old friends the town she grew up or the people in it. I'm still not convinced she's a good person. She sucks
The town loved them and Sebastian also loved! It would of been a better book with a different lead
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an Audio ARC in exchange for an honest review.
thank you to netgalley for the advanced reading copy. I really enjoyed this and will be getting copies for my shop.
Twenty years ago, Brynn ran as fast as she could from her hometown of Adelaide Springs, Colorado, and is now the NYC-based co-host of the country's top morning TV news program. Six years ago, Sebastian took refuge in Adelaide Springs after disappearing overnight from his life as an award-winning war correspondent.
When Brynn torpedos her career and Adelaide Springs on national television, she must head back on a PR tour to save her job. Sebastian doesn't take kindly to Brynn's shallow and condescending attitude but has drawn the short straw to be her tour guide around town. What starts as a very antagonistic relationship softens as Brynn and Sebastian discover the truth behind their protective barriers and begin to share their vulnerabilities in the quirky little town of Adelaide Springs.
This closed-door, enemies-to-lovers romance starts out pretty cringy. Brynn isn't that character who is endearing to the reader and is misunderstood by the other characters. She is genuinely unlikable at the onset of the book. As Sebastian begins to see her in a new light, so does the reader. I liked that this was a love story between 2 adults who were funny and goofy but also adults who could be introspective and vulnerable. Thank you to @NetGalley for the opportunity to review the delightful audiobook. The story was great, and the narrators' performances truly enhanced the book.
