I loved this even more than the first! I love Molly and really enjoyed this story. Getting to hear so much about Molly’s past was a treat! Can’t wait for the next one!

if you have not read the first novel you need to do that before reading this one. The first one is a gem and so is the second. Nita Prose has a mystery that keeps you turning the pages and guessing all the way through again.
The second installment in the Molly the Maid series was just as much fun as the first. Molly is now the head maid at the hotel and is training a new, very shy, very quiet new maid in training.
Unfortunately, there is also an exciting event happening, an author event in which a renowned mystery author will be making a special announcement.
Before he can.. he falls over dead!
Detective Stark is back on the scene once again, assuming that Molly is up to no good as well, and immediately assuming foul play. (This rather annoyed me, wouldn't you think heart attack, stroke, anything else rather than oh yeah this guy was murdered.. at least until an autopsy was done?)
But Molly refuses to let anyone get her down, and she is determined to keep her hotel clean.
Molly is a fun character. We get some glimpses into her childhood, and her growing up with her beloved gran, and while bittersweet, it was nice to see how far she has come since being a shy, lonely child.
Great read
Molly the Maid continues her reign as one of my all-time favorite fictional characters. Definitely kicking myself for waiting so long to read this one after it's pub day but I'm already hungry for more of her life. Huge thank you to Netgalley and Random House for my review copy!
Thank you to NetGalley for this advance copy of The Mystery Guest by Nita Prose. It was fun revisiting our girl Molly from “The Maid”! Such a memorable character whose Gumpian charm has always made me want to come back for more. This installment gave us a character from her past, so we got a great new perspective as we dove into Molly’s childhood. I hope this is a series that continues to delivery for years to come.
I really enjoyed the characters of the Regency Grand Hotel the first time and was glad to return. This book brings a new mystery for Molly to work through. The murder victim has a direct tie to Molly’s childhood. I really enjoyed more glimpses into Molly’s past, with more flash backs of Molly, Gran, and even Mr. Preston. If you liked The Maid, you will enjoy this also.
I received a free copy of this book from the publishers, via NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review.
This title was even more enjoyable than The Maid - the first in the series.
I enjoyed the fan club and the way that the author kept us guessing about secrets in the hotel.
Recommended for fans of The Maid
Love this series. Molly the maid is such a strong character and how she pays attention to details allows her to solve the murder. We learn more about Molly’s childhood and relatives in this story. Looking forward to more escapades with Molly.
This one fell flat for me unfortunately! I enjoyed the first book but just couldn’t get into this one nearly as much. Nina remains quirky and love-able but the storyline left something to be desired. This will be great for those that love multiple books just for the character :)
Molly the Maid is back! I loved her quirky character in the first book “The Maid” so I was excited for her character to come back in this novel.
Molly the Maid is now head cleaner at the hotel, but it’s not always smooth sailing for her. Between grudging employees and a new death at the hotel. This time she has a very persona connection with the death.
I loved that the author went back in time for some of the backstory of how Molly knew the author who was killed.
This was a classic whodunnit that has you guessing till the end!
Thank you Netgalley for this early read of “The Mystery Guest” by Nita Prose.
Lauren Ambrose is an amazing narrator and captured Molly perfectly. The tone, the pacing, the emotions, and the other characters are all wonderful. I recommend the audiobook.
I enjoyed revisiting Molly as she helped solve another mystery. This really felt like a cozy mystery. I liked The Maid better, but this definitely kept me engaged. I'm interested to see if this will become a series. If so, I'll keep reading.
Thanks to the publisher for sharing a copy. All opinions are my own.
I loved this so much!! Molly is so fun and great with her detective skills. I loved learning more about her background and her childhood with Flora. Such fun and entertaining books that I can’t put down!!
As a huge fan of The Maid, I was ecstatic to have the opportunity to read the second book early! I absolutely adore Molly and I was so excited to see her personal growth from the first book to this one. I wish we had gotten an extension of her relationship with Juan Manuel in this novel as well. It was another cute, cozy mystery in the Regency Grand Hotel with Molly!
The Maid was one of the first mystery books I read as this was a genre I didn't read before. I enjoyed Molly's character and her friends. I'm happy to say I enjoyed this sequel as well and we get to understand Molly better. This was another fun book to read and I enjoyed it thoroughly.
The Mystery Guest delivered just like The Maid did. And I believe she has a Christmas book coming out! Looking forward to that one too !
Thank you to Netgalley, Nita Prose, and Random House- Ballatine Books for an advance copy of The Mystery Guest in exchange for an honest review. Molly is truly one of my favorite literary characters to date and she thrilled me again in The Mystery Guest. Molly is once again "pitted" against the infamous Detective Stark as both individuals attempt to find out what happened to well known author, J.D Grimthorpe. Was it the new maid in training, Lily? Or Grimthorpe's gaggle of followers? Prose takes us on a ride as we try to figure out what happens to said author and I believe everything wraps up in a perfect & tidy way (Molly would approve). ;) This one is out now and is a must buy for your own collection!
Thanks to NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group for a copy of The Mystery Guest in exchange for my honest review.
Quirky Molly is at it again with her sleuthing skills. Nice to learn a little about Molly's childhood and her relationship with her beloved Gran. Everything came together in a really enjoyable mystery!!
Molly the Maid is back in another charming mystery. Understanding Mollys neurodivergent tendencies really makes her all that more charming. Her quirkiness adds a new dimension to this type of murder mystery.
Molly Gray is back and just as amazing as I remember. She has been promoted to Head Maid at the Regency Grand and life is looking fine until a famous author, J.D. Grimshaw drops dead at an event being hosted in the Regency’s brand new tea room. Apparently, the maid is always guilty, and Molly is thrust into investigating to make sure that detective Stark sees that neither she or Lily, the new maid she hired, are guilty.
With a familiar cast of characters and a story line that travels back and forth to present day, the story unfolds along with a number of mysteries that show themselves during the course of the story.
I breezed through this book. Molly is one of my favorite characters in recent novels and Nita Prose does an amazing job depicting a neurodivergent character, who is lovable, smart and extremely interesting. I definitely felt like I knew Molly and the other cast of characters in this novel, and I didn’t want the book to end. I certainly had to suspend my disbelief, as the novel neared its end, but I loved it regardless. I look forward to the next installment.(Hopefully there will be one!)
I would highly recommend this series!
