Honest review. This book was very predictable. However, I did enjoy this book more than the first book.

This book brings us back into the world of Maid Molly Gray. She’s back to work at the Regency Grand and is Head Maid. One day while she’s working a world renowned author, J.D. Grimthorpe winds up dead on the ballroom floor. And again, Molly is a suspect in his murder. Of course she wants to help the police solve the murder. She is determined to find the killer.
I enjoyed this book more than the first one. It comes across less condescending of Molly and her quirks. She may be a little different but she’s a hardworking, determined woman with a quick mind. It expands on the connections the characters have formed because they all work at the hotel. Work families are really something else.
Thank you NetGalley and Random House Ballantine for my ARC of this book.

The maid series is just so good. I love that they aren't scary thrillers but thoughtful, who done its with charm and wit. It was great to dive into the characters again and solve another mystery!

Prose has found a niche--and it's a great one. The characters are lovable, unique, and memorable. Her writing and books stick with the reader and leave you wanting more. This book gave me it all--laughter, moments of suspense, and tears.

Molly the maid is back in The Mystery Guest, by Nita Prose. Fresh off the success of her last caper, this book finds Molly with new confidence and agency, even with another murder to contend with. This time, it's someone from her past who meets a sudden end at the Regency Grand. Flashbacks to Molly's childhood and revelations about her family give depth to this satisfying mystery.

This is a follow up to The Maid, so if you have not read that yet, please do that first. This worked well as a follow up/continuing story of unique and quirky Molly, a maid at the Regency Grand Hotel who takes her duties very seriously. It's a mystery thriller that will keep you guessing.

This was my second book by Nina Prose. And while it was the sequel to "The Maid" it was not as engaging as the first one. I do have such a soft spot for Molly with all of her quirks and the staff she works with. This was a fun mystery you're trying to solve.

What a great sequel, I think I liked it even better than The Maid. Molly is a delight and I liked getting more background about her and her beloved Gran. This is the definition of a cozy mystery, uncomplicated bit with some fun twists. Definitely recommend!

I really enjoyed the first book and was looking forward to reading the sequel. I just wasn’t able to get into this one like I did in the first one. I’m not sure why, it seemed like it was much the same as the first one, another murder in the hotel and Molly the maid trying to solve it. It just didn’t really hold my interest but I did finish it as I do like the authors writing style.

I really enjoyed reading about Molly the Maid in this standalone next book. It was a bit of a slow start but once it picked up, I couldn’t put the book down! I enjoyed the whodunnit mystery and can’t wait for (hopefully!) the next one!

This was a great follow up for The Maid! I love Nita's writing and how she always keeps you guessing until the last minute.

Molly is back! In her new role as head maid. She’s back in a sticky situation where she finds herself a suspect. I enjoyed the first book in the series better but this was still a fun read.

As I was going through my end of year lists, I realized I never reviewed this one. This book was a nice sequel. I liked the first book and this was a cute follow up adding more flavor to Molly the Maid and her band of misfits. Full of twists and turns and alternating timelines as you learn more of Molly’s backstory. Highly recommend!

A phenomenal second novel! I highly enjoyed this one. I would consider it for fans of traditional and cozy mysteries. I will be ordering this and putting it on my book club list.

Molly the maid is back in this newest cozy mystery. This is Anita Prose’’s second installment featuring her endearing protagonist, Molly the Maid.
When world renowned author, JD Grimthorpe, falls dead as he takes the stage to address his fans, Molly is ok the case.
Prose weaves Molly’s own childhood recollections and her relationship with her grandmother throughout the work.
A quick, entertaining, and fun read.

I truly wanted to like these books. I want to handle this review with as much care and respect as possible. I will be refraining from reviewing on social media because I do not believe the author is malicious or ableist in any way, and I can appreciate the work that she put into this book and the previous book. However. I very much dislike the use of autistic caricatures. For one, Molly is what you would create if you googled “autism symptoms.” Molly was created using every single autistic stereotype. I read that the author acknowledged that she is autistic but “did not want to put Molly in a box by labeling her.” Labels are not bad. I urge any author who is not neurodivergent to consult autistic adults, especially autistic women, before making a mockery of them.

I liked this book, and I liked the mystery, but at time I felt as if I was reading a young adult novel or even middle grade. Sometimes the language felt too simple for me.
I love the unique character and her little family of friends she’s created in her place of work. I also loved the flashbacks to when she was a child and how well that tied into the story. I’m always nervous of flashbacks, but I loved how those chapters were executed here.
This is a series and an author I will continue to read.

I was not able to finish the book and therefore do not feel that I can give an unbiased review about the book, its plot, characters, or the author's work. I might revisit this book at a later time and finish it then, but not right now.

In full transparency - I DNF'ed this book. I enjoyed The Maid enough, but at the start, I felt disconnected to the main character, and I struggled to stay fully engaged. I was disappointed by this sequel, and I worry that many original readers will feel the same.

Molly the maid is a great character. I can visualize her as I read. This book was a great follow up to the first book “The Maid”. Molly finds herself enthralled in the mystery of who killed mystery author JD Grimthrope.
I was hoping to see the author write more about Molly’s personal life with Juan Manuel however Molly only refers to him as off visiting family. The book gives more background into Molly and her grandmother’s past. Overall it was a good read. I do wonder how the author will develop Molly’s character now will she remain The Head Maid or because a detective? Thanks NetGalley and Ballantine Books for this ARC.
