There is something for everyone in this informative and rather fun book. Lots of exercises and little 'projects' to do that will certainly appeal to the beginner, and practical theory for witches, pagans, and Wiccans.
Thanks to NetGalley for my review copy.
3 and a half stars, rounded up.
I LOVED reading this book and have added it to my list of recommended books when people ask me about getting started on their own path. With everything from exercises, to tolls to Sabbats, you’ll find so much good information in here!
Don’t let the first few steps overwhelm you. Grab a copy of this book and begin your journey, one page, one day, one spell, and one Sabbat at a time!
Wow, just wow! There is so much information in this book! This is the kind of book you buy and it stays by your side for years. The book you keep referencing back to over and over again. I feel like I know a decent amount about witchcraft and yet I learned so much from this book. But at the same time this book would be a great start for someone who was completely new to witchcraft. There is definitely something for everyone!
This is the witchcraft book I needed when I was a child of the 90s trying to do little spells while I hung out in abandoned park garages with my homeless punk friends.
This is concise and real. It is beautiful. I will likely buy it for my niece.
As an avid reader of books on magic and witchcraft, I have come across numerous titles that claim to offer unique insights into the mystical realm. However, Josephine Winter's Witchcraft Unveiled stands out from the rest by beckoning readers to embark on a transformative journey right from the very beginning. Through a captivating ritual, Winter not only provides a versatile tool for various occasions but also opens a magical door, inviting us to step into a world of wonder. With her straightforward language and meticulous research, Winter creates an enchanting and inclusive environment that encourages learning, laughter, experimentation, and the exploration of modern-day eclectic witchcraft. I was captivated by every minute of this extraordinary experience!
A great read! I enjoyed this book immensely. I also learned new terms and new things about Witchcraft. I give this book a thumbs up! I voluntarily read this book via NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion.
Unique approach! ✨🔮♥️ I read a lot of books on magic and witchy subjects. From the outset, Josephine Winter sets her book apart by inviting you to a rite of beginnings. A beautiful ritual that would seamlessly work in many occasions, but also serves as a magical door to step through and start this journey. Straightforward language, and well researched, Winter crafts an enjoyable and welcoming environment to learn and laugh, experiment and find your way with modern day eclectic witchcraft. Loved every minute of it!
This book is great for anyone who is new to magic or wants to learn more! I really like how relevant it is to today’s society and gives advice to help people who are new to the craft. I loved the in-depth descriptions and definitions throughout the book. She even gives other book recommendations which I found really awesome, especially when you are new to learning about certain things. I definitely wish I had this book when I first started.
Great book and very informative. Grateful to have in my collection.
Thanks to NG and the publisher for allowing me access to this book.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for letting me review this book!
I found the majority of the information to be insightful and well thought out. I would use this book as a great reference and resource in my practice!
Well written with easy to read and use meditations, this is perfect for someone with a passing interest in witchcraft
Loved this so much! Every question a beginner could think of was covered in a way that’s easy to understand and put to use!
This book is a delightfully refreshing take on beginners friendly witchcraft. It doesn't hurt that several of my friends are referenced in this book, but I can definitely see this becoming a must-read for anyone beginning their witchcraft journey. Absolutely delightful.
WITCHCRAFT DISCOVERED is a reference book about the recent history of witchcraft, paganism, and Wicca. The book is a glossary of sorts covering different types of witches, and practices. As well as the meanings of tarot cards, the moon, and the wheel of the year. While I don't agree with everything in the book, I feel this would be a helpful resource for those interested in learning more about witchcraft.
Perfect book with lots of helpful tips on mindfulness, history and general practice ideas. I really enjoyed all of the information given in this book and found it to be very helpful.
This book is very well done. First thing I noticed is that iit covers common questions about actually doing the work. Not just going over the history as many witchcraft books do. Next it gives fantastic ideas for the seasons and casting a circle and using common tools. I knew this author was someone who actually practices when she tells the reader to use divination for many things but not to decide which God you will work with. Finally some real advice for people who are trying to put it together solitary wise or others who lead a group. Excellent and fun to read.
This book is basically an all around beginners guide to witchcraft. It has all sorts of information from herbal uses to mediation and visualization. It was very informative and has links included in the text for further learning on that specific topic
Thank you to NetGalley for an E-Book Advanced Reader Copy in exchange for my honest review.
Witchcraft Discovered is great for anyone wanting to learn more about practicing Witchcraft in the 21st Century. As someone that read Witchy how-to's and beginner style books more than 20 years ago, I appreciated that this book was an introduction to the Craft that reflects the values of 2023. The author didn't attempt to reinvent the wheel, but this book offers advice that beginners will find useful. Winters gives an in-depth history as well as defining what Witchcraft is. Each chapter offers additional book suggestions to the reader for deeper dives. There are also journal prompts scattered throughout to help the reader in formulating what their own practice will be and what it will mean for them. The author conveys that all of this is to be taken as advice and that each practitioner is free to create their own practice as they see fit.
The hands on approach and exercises in this how-to manual really help a new practitioner in learning how to work their craft with their head, hands and heart. It covers everything a new practitioner would want to learn about getting started on their journey from the Sabbats/Esbats, Tools of the Craft, different Divination practices, Deities and much more. This book is a very good starting place which can lead to continued learning.
While I do not believe experienced Witches will find anything new from a practical aspect, the recipes and spells are something I will revisit in my own practice as it is always changing and evolving.
