While I would not necessarily classify myself as a witch, I find that any type of wellness information can and will help those who take the time to study and reflect then add their new knowledge to their wellness plan. This book revolves around a natural approach to wellness. How can you use the everyday items around you to make your life better. Laurel Woodward gives so many tips and ahsres what works for herself and others that Ive already incorporated many steps into my life. I'm on my way to being a better me.
This is a self-care book that focuses on using plants and herbs to promote wellness. It breaks down different herbs, what they can be used for, their history, and some ways to utilize them to promote personal wellness. While this book can be very useful if you are looking to use herbs and plants to promote your wellness, I do wish the author had taken time to discuss seeking professional help, especially for the sections about anger, sadness, and other darker moods.
If you are looking to use plant witchery to promote your personal wellness, then this book is most likely for you. If you are looking for ways to promote a healthier version of yourself using the craft, outside of just plants, then this book may not be for you.
This is a super informative and well worded book that I've now referred to while making a few things. Want to make a decoction? Here's what that is and how long it's good for! Can't decide between a tincture and cold infused oil? Here are the directions for each, how to store them, and uses! I can't tell you how helpful that's been already!
There are detailed descriptions and information on the ingredients listed, as well as explaining the recipes clearly that makes it so easy to follow. And the tasty results of some of these speak for themselves. (I'm looking at you sweet potato burrito, which I never thought about for beauty and comfort.) I absolutely adore this book and can't WAIT for it to come out to add to my shelf.
The tone of this book wasn’t really vibing for me, at times it felt like the narrative was treading a little too close to toxic positivity for my comfort. But the information was helpful, concise, and easy to process and integrate. I really enjoyed the recipes as well!
I was very pleasantly surprised my this book! There is so much information all packed into one book. I wish I had found a book like this when I first started this journey. Sometimes things feel so overwhelming and we want to learn so much so quickly. If that’s you… get this book! This is definitely something you can keep close and will continue to reference back to along your journey.
In this book you will find basic info like moon cycles and meanings, some plants/herbs and their uses, protections, and mindfulness just to name a few. There are so many recipes for bathes, food, teas and essential oils. I found quite a few recipes I will be trying out.
I really enjoyed this book and it had a ton of useful information for those looking for magickal healing and witchy elements. This book is a wonderful reference to have on hand.
It provides TONS of information on different florals, herbs, and plants along with their uses and even a bit of history on the common ones. The author also goes into detail on essential oils as well. Something I appreciated was the warnings she gave for each (example: toxic to dogs, cats, etc.). Sometimes it's easy to overlook those warnings and do more harm than good.
I think Wellness Witchery is best used as a reference book of recipes and information on herbs and essential oils.
The first 75% of the book has chapters with different themes. The chapters are about mental health, self-esteem, and different emotions.
The first five chapters cover using magical intention and spell work, and an introduction to working with herbs. The next ten chapters are primarily LOTS of recipes for things like diffusing oils, making scents, tea, and some other spa-worthy treatments. Those ten chapters start off with a thought exercise like visualization or meditation. Those were some of my favorite exercises because I could do them right away without acquiring any other ingredients.
This book is best suited to someone who either has a lot of herbs and essential oils already or someone who wants to start gathering them. I fall into the second category for most of the recipes so I was not able to make many of them while I read the book unfortunately.
I am pretty well educated on plants and the information was solid. Warnings were well identified.
A nice guide for the kitchen witch to make lots of uplifting and selfcare teas, bakes, and infusions. I especially liked the chapters with more details on all the plants and essential oils used.

This book incorporates some of my favorite things - magic, self-care, overall wellness. This guide is easy to read and easy to understand. There were a TON of herbal recipes and oil blends, dedicated to help you improve your quality of life. All of the recipes and activities are accessible to people of all levels of practice from beginners to experiences. I cannot wait to put some of this knowledge to use in my own life!
This book was simply beautiful. I appreciated that the ingredients or items used in recipes are not overly expensive, and how it was consistently easy to follow along with. I found myself taking plenty of notes while reading, and constantly thinking about how aesthetically pleasing it was, while being so helpful. I absolutely loved this book and I can’t wait to add a physical copy to my bookshelf. I would highly recommend this book and thank you so much for the chance to read this.
This book is packed with formulas, recipes, and exercises for everyone. It covers a wide range for day to day uses.
Great book and very informative. Grateful to have in my collection.
Thanks to NG and the publisher for allowing me access to this book.
I’m all for magical living that nourishes the mind, body and spirit, and therefore was immediately drawn to this book. What surprised me was the section on mood disorders. Bravo Laurel Woodward for including these exercises and recipes, that are both inspiring and valuable for potions masters and new mixologists alike! I particularly like the “New Point of View” blend — it smells like the winds of change.
Ultimately, I think we could all use a regular dose of wellness and self care. The magical approach in this book—full of exercises and meditations, infusions, cocktails, teas, massage oils, scrumptious kitchen witchery recipes, and herbal and essential oil blends— makes it all the more interesting. Potent with plant medicine history, application, and ripe with intention, this book is an all around fabulous addition to any magical library.
Such a great beginner kitchen witch read. I love how the author dives right in and makes it easy for everyone to understand! Even if you’re not a practicing witch, still an interesting read!
Thank you so much to @netgalley for the chance to review Wellness Witchery by Laurel Woodward. While not a witch, rather a nurse, I was intrigued by the many scientific reasons that some of the herbs and remedies may work. I loved how the book was laid out - the reader could reference it as they would a text. Clear language, explicit warnings to make sure that you know what ingredients you are working with, and a healthy dose of the mystical made this a fun read.
I wish this had been more visually pleasing (the cover had me fooled)
This is a compendium of knowledge and reads more like a manual.
This is very good but nothing inspiring or "fresh" worthy of a manual like book
3/5
The book starts with the connection to plants, evolved to how we should take care of them, how to treat them in order to be able to use them.
And goes into depth, going to every point and giving lots of recipes for every need, which are sure to please anyone, from recipes for cakes and cookies, to oils and infusions, meditations and exercises to improve our mental health.
And it goes even deeper into the plant world because it goes to every ingredient, plant and oil and talks about it, what it is for, how to use it and its benefits.
A book worth having at home, which will be necessary to make us feel good, which will help us to give ourselves the self-love we need and the connection to nature and to the moment enjoying what we are doing for ourselves.
A solid herbal book that makes sure to warn readers of potential dangers of working with herbs while also taking medications. Very well written and sourced. I'm very excited to try the lemon lavender shortbread cookies.
Thank you Netgalley, author, and the publishers for allowing me the opportunity to read this e-arc.
Wellness Witchery by Laurel Woodward's magical method to feeding the body, mind, and spirit kept me interested as I read it. The book took a whole-person approach by bringing together herbalism, self-care, and magick in a way that really spoke to me. I found more than 100 herbal recipes, 80 essential oil mixes, and different workouts that were all meant to improve my quality of life.
What really stood out to me was how important it was to make friends with plants. Woodward's ideas about the magical power of plants, flowers, and herbs opened my eyes to their ability to change things. This book told me to bring happiness and awareness into my magic practises. It also reminded me that purpose is the most important thing in magic.
Essential oil mixes for confidence, security, and inner peace made the book even more interesting. Not to mention the amazing baths, treats, and drinks that were not only fun, but also helped people feel better emotionally and spiritually.
Woodward's writing style was interesting and full of useful information, which made this book suitable for both newbies and experts like myself. The beautiful style and stunning images and photos made the reading experience even better and helped readers understand the different recipes and practises.
In the end, Wellness Witchery turned out to be a helpful tool on my path to overall wellness. I've become better, stronger, and more in tune with the magick around me by taking care of myself and using the power of plants. This book has become a dear friend, and I can't wait to give it to others who are looking for a way to health and magic.
