I was desperate to love this book - the plot itself is wonderful & I really connected with Coco and Logan! I really liked their relationship with Poppy too. There were a lot of typos and holes in the story (and an entire scene was repeated 2 pages later) which I assume were fixed before publication but also:
- I didn't love that 60% of the book was when Coco was in hospital - the rest felt rushed and lacking emotion behind the narrative/ secondary character development as a result
- Coco's ex wasn't mentioned until around the same amount of time, until that point there was no reference of her reservations about dating and it felt staged to deliver the scene where she sees him at the restaurant. It should have been a more consistent plot element as it would develop Coco's character much better.
- The blurb references being steamy - but the one and only steamy scene (which was brilliant!!!) wasn't until 80%, where as the opportunity for one in the hospital was totally glazed over.

This was cute and I liked all the characters, including of course the kid. The conflict at the end was sort of weak but it was enjouyable!

Thanks for the chance to review “The Cutting Edge” by Lisa Daly. This was super cute, with pro hockey player Logan as the adorable dad to Coco’s figure skater client. Logan was struggling with scoring on the ice, but accidentally hit Coco on the head with a puck. He helps her to heal, and to prepare for the upcoming Olympic tryouts.

The banter was fun, and the book was sweet and a bit spicy. There were numerous editing errors, to the point of distraction.

I read this book on one day, and I literally could not put it down.
Coco is a figure skater dreaming of winning gold medal and going to the Olympics.
Logan is a single dad to an adorable little girl named Poppy and also a hockey star for the St. Pete Slashers.
A freak accident sets off a cute/funny chain of events between Coco and Logan.
I loved the instant chemistry and back and forth banter between the two and how their story unfolded.
I look forward to reading more books from Lisa!!

I found the overall story very cute and I found myself smiling a lot throughout the book. Sometimes the story was a little over the top and cheesy but I didn't mind it that much.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I did feel like it was a little rushed and would have benefited from a slow-burn plot line. However, that was just not the way it was written and it did end up being pretty cute. I was kind of bothered by the amount of punctuation mistakes during the first half, mainly with quotation marks, but I don't know if that was a part of the writing or just a formatting error from when I downloaded it. I would have liked more scenes with the daughter because I feel like she was a great character. Again, this book was really adorable and that classic hockey romance that I feel a lot of people would like.

While I was initially enjoying this book, eventually the issues with the plot really soured the experience for me. The main sources of conflict in this book felt very manufactured and honestly ridiculous at times. I also felt like there was a lot of “not like other girls” sentiment throughout the story that wasn’t really addressed or resolved. Overall, it can be a fun read if you don’t mind issues with sexism and miscommunication/lying, with very surface level conflict and commentary.

If you give me anything hockey I’m in! This book made me want more of the St. Pete’s team, Cam and Lana’s story might be more up my alley. I think there were just a few too many tropes in one book for me and not enough spice. I am not an insta-love person and I do like to somewhat relate to my characters. Why didn’t we see more of Mrs. Markham? The note of steamy novel had me a little confused but I understand now. I am rooting for Logan and Coco and would love an Olympic epilogue.

I really wanted to like this fluffy little romance novel about a figure skater and a hockey player. I mean, who didn’t love “The Cutting Edge”? (Toepick!). As a figure skating fan, I enjoyed the inclusion of real Team USA skaters. I even loved that this took place in the Tampa area and featured places I knew from my brief time there. But. And this is a huge “but”. The editing in this ARC from @NetGalley was atrocious. There were so many misspelled words, at one point an entire paragraph was repeated, and the venue for the next Winter Olympics changed from Milan to Madrid. Finally, the plot was predictable. There’s time to clean up the typos. Make it happen, please.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, more than I expected to. Coco was the sweetest and most relatable character. Logan was swoonworthy and such a gentleman. I think the chemistry was great and I enjoyed the plotline. I would've liked to see more of Coco's figure skating. I think that the timing for the book is a bit off, cause let's be for real, no one is dating after only two weeks of knowing each other in this day and age. I also liked the single dad trope, Poppy is just adorable. I would have liked to dive more into each of their backstorys more. Like what did Cocos father do? More scenes of her ex, Brent? We also spent 140 pages in a hospital which after awhile was just boring.

Aww I thought this book was incredibly cute! I think it definitely had more potentially to be longer and some more character development but the bones of a great hockey romance (my kryptonite) we’re definitely there.

WHAT AN ADORABLE BOOK! I laughed so much and smiled so big my cheeks hurt. I love stories with little kids, right? And Poppy? She's the sweetest! After Logan is late picking up his daughter from Coco's figure skating class, things go slightly awry, and let's just say that Logan and Coco end up spending a lot of time together. Through the ups and downs, they start to fall for each other - while everyone around them pushes and pushes.

I loved the team camaraderie and the WAGs. I also liked that Coco had her own life and dreams, and Logan never asked her give them up. He was always encouraging her. He was also kept in check by his sassy daughter. Of course, their interactions as a family were my favorite. I just really loved everything about this story. I can't wait for more in this universe!

I am a fiend for a sports romance so when I this I had to read it.

The Cutting Edge is about Bella a figure skater who is currently working towards the next Olympics and Logan the star and Captain of the St Pete Slashers, pro Ice Hockey team. Both are in a bit of a slump, Bella as she's trying to work out how she can afford to the go to the Olympics as well as afford everything that goes with it. Loga, well he is in a slump, he can't seem to score and if it continues his team won't be playing in the finals.

Well this book certainly was funny from start to finish, with lots of sweet moments as well as those you cringe at, laugh and swoon at. This is what I would call the epitome of sports romance, you have the star of the team down on his luck and the heroine swoops in to make everything better. She makes him a better person and to think more about the bigger picture rather than just himself. There was mishaps from start to finish, I did want to smash the pair of their heads together towards the end of the book but as we know with all HEA it comes together at the end.

It was a really enjoyable read, it was full of book tropes - friends to lovers, single dad, miscommunication. It also had a really good set of side characters that I am sure we are going to see in future and I am looking forward to that. The banter between the characters was also something that I really enjoy seeing in a romance book and I felt that Lisa Daily did do this well to a degree.

My only gripe with the book as I wished it were slightly longer and fleshed out a little more. Be warned that this is an insta love book and I know some people are not a fan., I am looking forward to seeing more from this author as she writes more from this series.

This was a cute story about a random accident that blossomed two practically strangers into lovers. I enjoyed the story and the concept, although there was basically no spice at all for a book described as a "steamy hockey romance" it was very closed door in my opinion. My issue with not giving the book a higher rating is the editing. Although that's not the authors fault directly it caused some annoyances when reading with the repetitiveness and also some confusion because it didn't quite make sense.

When Logan visits the at the hospital there's a paragraph about Poppy noticing the nurse's grip on his arm and how everyone tries to catch his attention, but this is said literally the page after about not bringing women home and making sure she knows she's his number one girl. This could have been combined, I swear I had to check multiple times to make sure I wasn't reading the same page.

There where quite a few other minor mistakes that just bugged me like "a text from dings" - what?
Random capital letters, switching from first to third person while in a first person POV, missing letters for certain words, and missing punctuation. But the thing I could not figure out was why on my kindle app on my phone random parts are in italics, but it wasn't like that on my kindle?

I am hoping since this was a NetGalley copy these edits were changed in the final product but not sure! Again, this took away from my reading experience, but overall it was a cute book and story and I would be willing to read the next in the series.

i thought the concept was so adorable but i thought there would be more pretty figure skating descriptions :( the pacing was okay but the mistakes really distracted me from the book—bella or coco?? at first i was super confused but then i just realized the blurb was wrong? the description on netgalley is correct though. and i liked the humor but the ex showing up in the end was kinda. overdone. and i felt like there could be more tension overall it's really just coco being stubborn that's preventing them from being together lol. idk. overall not terrible but will get better with less repetition & more proofreading.

This was a cute rom com about a figure skater and a hockey player. This book was very sweet! Low angst, fast-paced and some of the best witty and flirtatious banter I have ever read in a book, I was practically grinning throughout!

Being sent to a hospital after getting hit by a hockey puck slapshotted by one of hockey's best players is never a good start to a relationship, but in The Cutting Edge it works. Coco is a figure skating champion with goals to medal in the Olympics. Logan is a single father who doesn't make the best first impression on his daghter's skating teacher when he injures her with a hockey puck to the head. Wanting to make it up to her, Logan spends a lot of his free time at the hospital with Coco where sparks start to fly.

I thought this was a cute and fun sports romance. It isn't so dark and dirty as some of the other hockey romances that are all the rage right now, but I enjoyed it a lot for what it was. I always gage a book on whether I'm happy to get back to reading it, and I was always excited when I got to go back to this one. I liked the characters a lot and enjoyed the light heartedness of the book.

Perhaps my expectations were high coming in to this, but when it is the same title as a favorite movie and romance, I don't think they were unwarranted. The story was cute, Logan and Poppy were cute, and it was...cute.

It was also not well-researched and implausible in a lot of ways (there is absolutely no way a player would be allowed on their phone during a game). I found myself getting distracted by these pieces and trying to figure out what the overall plot was supposed to be. The first 70% of the book takes place in one location and that could've been cut back to spend more time with Coco and Logan as a couple. Overall, it was cute and enjoyable. While I won't be reading it again, I look forward to the next plot the author brings us.
