The Cutting Edge by Lisa Daily was a super sweet hockey romance. It is short and sweet but I think this book needed to go through another round of edits before being distributed to ARC readers. There were a lot of grammatical errors and I felt like there were parts of the story missing. This had a lot of potential, but ultimately fell flat in execution.

This definitely scratched the itch I had for swoon worthy hockey romance! Characters were lovable, didn’t run too quickly or too slow, the setting didn’t overpower…quite honesty a perfect balance to me!

I picked this up looking for a more "closed door" hockey romance and while I guess it delivered in that respect, I didn't find the story to be very entertaining or gripping. The pacing was strangely slow and I didn't really care about the characters very much. I think in general the writing/ editing could be tighter.
Overall I think this book could have really benefited from another round or two of editing and polishing up.
I did think the way the author threw these two characters together was interesting and I liked that we were stepping out of the norm in these types of books by giving us a single dad MC.

I wanted to like this I really did. But I feel like it was kind of all over the place. the idea and the story are cute but some things that just didn’t need to be there.

there were parts that were a little tough to read, there were quotations in random places, at the beginning of the book the Olympics were in Milan but then by the end they were in Madrid, the ex-boyfriend scene felt very forced and unnecessary, there are scenes where the writing just randomly switches to third person???

I don’t know if that is just because this was an arc and if the final print is different but I had a hard time reading this.

I am such a sucker for hockey romances. I simply can’t get enough of them. This was such a cute story with just the right amount of drama.

I enjoyed the start but the middle - third act ish just didn't really keep my attention and I got bored

This book was most enjoyable when the MMCs child was involved, she was super cute and brought lots of entertainment to the plot. I really enjoyed the date/day out they all had together

I liked the start of their relationship and how they got on straight away and almost clicked

The MMC started annoying me when he was just kinda throwing money her way in terms of presents to try and get her to forgive him for lying/keeping info from her (and the fact that it happened twice got on my nerves)

- olympic figure skater x nhl team captain
- single dad

Thank you to NetGalley and Siesta Key for the arc - all opinions are my own

Looking up this book and saw that fans of Pippa Grant, Meghan Quinn, Hannah Grace, Helena Hunting would like this book and I was sold. Then I read it, and I was double sold! Pippa, Meghan, Hannah and Helena are 4 of my top favorite authors and I loved this book! I laughed out loud so many times I lost count. As a person who reads 450+ books a year, I can often predict in a book what the surprise or secret will end up being. This book had me laughing and salivating for so long, I forgot to even think about that until the author started dropping breadcrumbs!
I loved the meet cute, Logan beaming her with a slapshot? Hilarious.
Dad jokes? Hysterical.
Hospital turkey sandwich? Dead.
My only disappointment is that when a book's tag line includes 'steamy' I do expect more than 1 good steamy scene, but it was a good one so forgiven. I will certainly read more books by Lisa Daily and am most definitely looking forward to the next book in this series, Cold Feet.

This was a fun read! I’m a sucker for a hockey romance, and this didn’t disappoint on the actual inclusion of showing glimpses of actual hockey. Was it extraordinarily far fetched? Yes. I found it hard to believe that a 103 mph slapshot to the head would only do minimal damage. I also found it hard to believe that with “minimal damage” someone would be in a US hospital for two weeks. Suspending disbelief on that front made the read more enjoyable. With that part aside, it was the continuity errors that I struggled greatly with. There were instances like Logan knocking on her door swiftly, and then two paragraphs later it says he knocks on her door gently. At one point, Mrs. Markham was called Mrs. Markle. Another instance occurred when the book went from first person based on whose chapter it was, to third person for two paragraphs. But then switched back to first person. This book could benefit from a good, solid edit.

3.5⭐️ Hockey Romance, Dual POV, Single Dad, Instalove. This was a cute hockey romance where the figure skating FMC’s meet cute with the NHL hockey star MMC is him accidentally hitting her in the head with a puck at high speed. Their banter is adorable and overall it’s a quick easy read. The MMC definitely has instalove for Coco, but the slow burn of their romance makes you swoon constantly at all he does for her, especially the puppygram!

Thank you NetGalley and Siesta Key House for the early eARC of The Cutting Edge by Lisa Daily in exchange for my honest review.

The premise of this was interesting to me. However, instalove is not for me. The accidental slapshot to the head was not my cup of tea..

The copy seemed to have some inconsistencies in terms of character back story, and a few plots were kind of thrown in there and resolved oddly.

Overall, just not for me.

This is described as a hockey romance but it is mostly set in a hospital. The characters are good but the amount of grammar and spelling mistakes in this early draft made it difficult to stay in the story’s world.

The Cutting Edge was an easy read, though I felt that the story lacked a strong plot and the characters needed more depth. The dialogue sounded very stilted or clichéd at points, though I understand it could be an early edit.

Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to review.

This was a really cute book, at times it seemed far fetched but I really enjoyed reading it and I am looking forward to Cam and Lana’s story. I loved Poppy’s character. Cute book!

What a cute hockey/skating rom-com and the perfect winter read (and honestly any time read if you as big of a hockey romance fan as myself)! The meet-cute really did me in and I loved the banter between these two character! Of course there was a bit of a miscommunication trope (which admittedly is not my favorite) but honestly it didn't bother me with all the other great aspects of this fun rom-com! Definitely a hockey romance must read!

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for this eARC in return of an honest review.

With all the sports romances out these days, this one doesn’t live up.

The writing is decent but it feels like it falls short and is lacking. I wanted to love it but it isn’t something I will pick up again.

3.5⭐️

"The Cutting Edge" is an adorable and fun Hockey Romance.

In the book we meet Logan -a handsome and respectful hockey player single dad- and Coco -the ice skater MFC who I ended up not liking very much-, but even so the relationship kinda worked out at the end (which is expected in this expected in this kinda insta-love stories).

In the other hand, is important to highlight the fact that if you are looking for an inmersive experience in the hockey part then this might not be for you, since most of the time the characters are in the hospital or just going for anything that doesn´t relate to the practices or in games.

All in all, a fun fast-paced reading with a lot of banter between the two MC´s and with very little spice, being a good read for someone who is looking for a light book that would left you a smile.

Thank you to NetGalley and Lisa Daily for allowing me the opportunity to read this Arc in return for an honest review!

6.5/10. I love me an ice hockey rom-com, and while this one was good, it wasn't quite on par with some of the others I have read. I will likely still read the others in the series though!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was cute and cosy and warm. I did find the writing style to be a little tedious at times but I thought this was more down to my personal preference rather than it being 'bad'. I loved Logan as a character and found him to be rather relatable which is unusual for a lot of hockey romance book s that I have read recently.

I think this book will likely appeal to folks who absolutely love a hockey romance and want to read as many of them as they can. For readers not so enamored with hockey romance, I think this is skip-able. It was fine, but nothing particularly recommends it as a great romance when there are so many other great romances out there right now.

.
I was super excited for this one I am always down for a good sports romance (especially when it's hockey) but this one didn't seem so much like a sports romance more so just two characters who played sports. I was really wishing there would be descriptions of hockey games etc. I did really enjoy the single father aspect and found his kid to be so funny and a good addition to the story. I also enjoyed the banter between our two main characters.
.
overall this book wasn't exactly what I was expecting but it was a good read and kept me entertained.
