Netgalley provided this after the publication date, so I will be reading it soon. I can't wait to read this as the author's husband's book review for it on Goodreads is what intrigued me initially.

unfortunately I think this book just wasn't for me. The writing felt very repetitive. by about 15% in I feel like I'd read the same scene over and over again.

Wow! What a story! I definitely had fun with this book!
I learned much about culinary arts and some terms from memory have even come back from when I was in school!
I think I'll have to grab the print version so I can get the many recipes that are in here!
What I didn't like was the insta romance between Claire and Jason too fast and much too soon! They should've gotten to know one another better in my opinion.
The cover is cute! It's what made me want to read it and now I'm a foodie fangirl of foodie rom coms! Such a fun read and I got to "Paris " without leaving home.
This book will make you laugh out loud in certain places and in others make you shake your head.
This book will make you drool after all the delicious food and leave you wanting more!
I hope this author writes another one! Just absolutely delightful!
5 stars for a wonderful journey in culinary arts romance and an awesome trip to Paris! What more could one want?!
I highly recommend this book!
My thanks for a copy of this book. I was NOT required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own!

Claire Richards has worked HARD to get where she is. After making the decision to forge her own path, Chef Claire leaves the sun-soaked Napa Valley behind and stuffs herself into a tiny, Parisian apartment oozing with charm. She's made a name for herself at her new job as a hard working creative type, someone unafraid of a challenge and willing to think outside the box. However, when the legendary Type-A Chef James Sullivan starts running the Teaks kitchen, the tension between the two can literally be cut with a knife. Claire suddenly has to share her beloved morning routine with the very person who seems to hate her the most, unless... he doesn't actually hate her at all?

Pros:

- I loved James Sullivan. He was charming, funny, and overall just the classic Boy-Next-Door romantic lead (at least part of the time). His family was hilarious, and I'm dying for a sequel starring his pediatrician-sister living her best life in Rhode Island.
- The overall setting was fantastic! I loved the market, the apartments, the truffle farm, the city, the restaurant-- absolutely everywhere Andrews took the reader felt really well developed and stunning.
- Theo. I absolutely loved that cheese monger and wish I had my own grandpa-esque French man that provided me with the perfect cheese (and advice) every time I asked.
- I may be in the minority, but I also appreciated the waiting-until-marriage aspect. The decision wasn't religious based (at least not overtly), and I always enjoy representation in "pop-culture" books for people who have decided to wait for whatever reason.

Cons:

- Claire is weirdly jealous of every single woman to interact with James Sullivan, from the get-go. Some of this can be explained, but there was so much bitterness and unnecessary monolouging about the "green slime" of jealousy it felt overdone.
- As much as I loved James, he was so hot and cold it was honestly confusing. He was rude to Claire from the beginning (and then had the audacity to be confused when Claire points his behavior out... multiple times) and pretty much consistently switches from warm and loving back to Mr. Iceman until the last quarter of the book. It's exhausting, and no wonder the romance is such a slow burn!
- The speed of Claire and James' relationship was absolutely breakneck. Once Claire decides she's ready to be officially with James, they get married in little over a month-- right after her own sister's wedding. It felt like the classic puritan-culture marriage where they get married super fast just so they can have sex, which I'm sure isn't what the author was intending, but is definitely how it came off. Do people get married after mere weeks of dating? Sure, especially if, like the characters, they had a wonderful friendship to build off of, but it all felt a little... unnecessary. I would have much rather had an epilogue of them getting married at the truffle farm (or Teaks) after a year or so.

Overall, I did really enjoy YES, CHEF. It was fun, and a really strong debut from author Waitlyn Andrews. This is a great option for someone wanting a slow burn, will-they-won't-they featuring lots of food and wine!

Yes, Chef is the perfect book for anyone who is looking for a romcom and is curious about what happens inside a restaurant kitchen!

This takes place in Paris, where we follow Claire as a new chef in a Restaurant, and at the same time, we can be part of her healing process with the support of one of the most charming MMCs, James -a book lover too-.

But this is not only a love story, but a foodie one! In this book, is pretty easy to be part of the "Michelin star" goal of the kitchen team, and even though it has a lot of relationships going on, inside and outside the kitchen (like the ones with the suppliers), all of them were interesting and let you be even more part of the book and the situations it gives. So, every part of the journey is lovely.

So many things make Yes, Chef an amazing story, but my favorite part is the fact that every chapter began with a dish recipe! That made me learn so many terms I didn't even know I wanted to know!

This book had me giggling soooo much. Would definitely recommend it!

Thank you NetGalley and Waitlyn Andrews for the copy.

I really enjoyed this book and am grateful to the author for sending a final copy of the book after listening to reader feedback.

This was an interesting novel. It was a slow burn, closed door romance based in Paris but the main characters were Americans. I liked how the chapters had culinary terms or dishes and the defintition included at the start.

Thank you Net Galley. This was a sweet debut novel, with mineable characters. The strength of the book was definitely in the food and restaurant descriptions, and loved reading about Paris and Napa. I definitely struggled with the relationship, which I found to be slightly unbelievable and cheesy. That said though, great work for a debut novel. 3/5

Claire Richards picks up her life and moves abroad landing a job at an up and coming restaurant in Paris, Teaks! She settles into life as a Parisian enjoying a croissant and espresso every morning and going to the market before work. Claire’s routine gets turned upside-down when Chef James Sullivan takes the role as the new head chef of Teaks. Claire has sworn off workplace romances, but the City of Love has other plans.

I loved this book and couldn’t put it down!!! There is something special about a romcom based in Paris. Yes, Chef was the perfect cozy story and it will make you want to book a flight to Paris! This read will give you all the 90s rom com feels and I would LOVE it if they turned this one into a movie!

I can’t believe this was a debut book and I am excited to see what Waitlyn Andrews comes up with next!!

Thank you, NetGalley and Waitlyn Andrews for this eARC in exchange for an honest review. Yes, Chef released August 3, 2023 and is currently available on Kindle Unlimited!

📖: Yes Chef by: Waitlyn Andrews | 📅 Pub Day: OUT NOW!!!

Finally finally finally getting around to rating this book! This book was such a winner for me and re-ignited my love for all things Paris and French!

Random little tidbit about me, is that I took French from age 11 to my senior year of college and I loved every second of it! I also worked at the Canadian-American border and often used my fluent French (at the time I’ve lost my edge a little since) to translate or give directions to French Canadian travelers. My dream is to one day get to France. But, until then I have books like this one to get me through!!!

Back to the task at hand😂

Yes, Chef was a cutesy foodie romcom that really showed the inner working of the culinary industry! I really loved the gritty real life portrayals of all the main characters’ relationships! And I being a professional baker (@thatveganbakingbetch 😂 who has people feral over my cinnamon rolls I’ll include pics) the cinnamon roll MMC was precious👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

If, or should I say when, you all read this book expect maximum cuteness and maximum fun!

4.50⭐️

Special thanks to the author and netgalley for allowing me to read and review this book!

The story of Claire and James, both Americans living and working in Paris. He is head chef and she does not like him to start with, but as they spend more time together feelings change. A great read, looking forward to more books from this author.

Yes, Chef by Waitlyn Andrews gets…
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 stars!

what a debut! i absolutely adored this story and the characters. the MMC has to be one of the most lovable male book characters i’ve read in a minute and Claire really is THAT girl. this book had a ton of tropes that i love and avoided the ones i hate most, which i count as a major win!

synopsis:
in an attempt to escape aspects of her past that are holding her down, Claire moves to Paris alone to work in a restaurant that is on the path to getting its first Michelin star. in comes a new head chef named James and suddenly everything that Claire thought she knew about her path is turned on its head. he is good looking but harsh in his feedback to Claire, a stark difference from how he speaks to everyone else in the kitchen. when James and Claire are forced to spend more time together because of work, she hopes the cold shoulder subsides and they can at least, with time and effort, stand to be near each other.

you may like this book if you enjoy the following tropes (maybe some slight hints as to how the book goes, but not explicit spoilers):
- slow burn
- he falls first
- “enemies” to lovers
- closed door
- HEA

thank you to NetGalley and Waitlyn Andrews for granting me access to this book 🥹 i really hope she writes more because i WILL be tuned in :)

I loved this story so much I was surprised by this book. This is the first book I have read by Waitlyn Andrews, and I wasn't sure what to expect. I loved Claire and James. I wasn't sure how to feel about James but I ended up loving him, their story is just so amazing and cute. I loved how he supported her throughout the book once they got to know one another. This is a super cute, fun and exciting story!! I would love to read another book from this author. Thank you NetGalley for sharing this ARC with me!!

I was so pleasantly surprised by this book. This is the first book I have read by this author, and I wasn't sure what to expect. I loved Claire's journey of self discovery and independence. I wasn't sure what to think of James at first, but I loved his growth in the story. I loved how supportive and respectful James was once he and Claire opened up to one another. I am not always a fan of closed door romances, but I loved this one. It was cute, fun, and empowering all at the same time.

I loved this book! Every recipe, every character(except Henry & Rachel). Every chapter took you to the local markets to shop for Teaks. Theo was my favorite vendor. A true romcom that made me feel really warm inside and hungry. Congratulations Waitlyn on a beautifully written book that transported me to France. I see croissants in myfuture! Thank you for the ARC #netgalley

I went into this book knowing the title, genre, and nothing else. I loved the Paris food scene vibe and want nothing more than to sip an espresso at a little cafe and then go shopping at the market. I hope Theo is based on a real person somewhere!

The beginning of this book had me excited with all of the restaurant scenes, hints at enemies to lovers, getting into the trauma Claire was put through by her ex, and her sister’s impending wedding. I found the pacing to be a little bit slow and ending with not as much confrontation as it seemed like there should have been for what Claire went through. There were definitely some satisfying moments though and looking back it really was more realistic than the big scenes some characters make in other books. Claire definitely is not the type to ruin her sister’s wedding over her loser ex boyfriend.

Overall this was a cute story and I did enjoy it! Although I cannot believe that in that entire book there was no reference to Monsters, Inc.

3.5 stars rounded up to 4!

Thank you to NetGalley and Waitlyn Andrews for the ARC!

Yes, Chef is a debut romance about a chef who wants to leave her life behind and work at a restaurant trying to obtain a Michelin star. Except for texts from her ex-boyfriend and her mother (encouraging her to get back with the ex-boyfriend), all is going well for Claire in the City of Love/Paris.

All of the food described sounded delicious; I wish there had been a certain mousse recipe included in the book. (Maybe it was omitted from the advance read version. Sounds perfect.) I thought that the cooking definition at the start of each chapter was a nice touch.

This is Waitlyn Andrews debut novel, I really like reading books by debut authors and thought that she did a great job.

Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to review the advance read copy of Yes, Chef in exchange for an honest review. Normally I'd also thank the publisher, so thank you for approving my review request.

Thank you #NetGalley and #WaitlynAndrew’s for the ARC of Yes, Chef. I’m giving the book a 4.5, so I rounded it up to 5.

Things I loved -
Slow burn romance
How attentive James was to Claire’s needs
The Sullivan family, wasn’t expecting the togetherness
Theo and Martin Jr.
The description of the place where she dreamed of building a house
The love they had for each other
That they loved books
The sisters on both sides
The grandmother who loves her
This book reminded me of a Hallmark movie, and I love Hallmark movies
It’s a romcom!!
The food descriptions at the beginning of each chapter, loved, loved, loved that part

Things I didn’t care for-
The word “dadgum”, seriously though the main character is from California, I have never heard anyone use that word, there was swearing in the book so use the swear word or something else. Such a weird word.

I enjoyed how each chapter started with a description of either a food or method of cooking. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that the restaurant was really a character in the book as each member of the staff was determined to earn a star. One has to applaud Claire' s determination to make a name for herself rather than capitalizing on the Richards name and to overcome such a tragic accident. She took herself seriously but also knew how capable she was as a chef and her creative perception. It was clear that her and James would end up together as they truly watched out for each other and were stronger as a result of it. The three squeezes was very cute. However, her hesitation and rationale as to why she couldn't commit in a physical sense struck me as very immature. That is the one item I would flag as not really corresponding with the strength of her character as it felt like a step back. I was happy the way the book ended and the family they created together. The two stars made the journey worth it.

This story was so cute. I loved how it was from the female POV. I really liked the details of their trips to the market and the nightly meals at the restaurant. I definitely want to read more from this author.
