Broken Knight by LJ Shen is book 2 of the All Saints High series. This book is a deeply emotional and intense contemporary romance novel that explores themes of love, loss, and redemption in the turbulent lives of its protagonists. The story revolves around Knight Cole and Luna Rexroth, childhood friends who share a complex and tumultuous relationship. Knight is portrayed as a troubled yet magnetic character, struggling with his own demons and the weight of family expectations. Luna, on the other hand, is determined and resilient, facing her own challenges while trying to navigate her feelings for Knight. I love this author and her books. She knows how to write amazing characters and keeps you wanting more.
Seriously LOVE this series! It’s so good! I can’t say enough good things about it!! The writing, the feels, and the characters are perfection! I can’t recommend these enough to anyone! Thank you for a copy!
Oh LJ Shen, I love thee. I enjoy LJ's writing, plot lines, and style. Her characters are always spot on and Broken Knight is no exception!
I loved the play on the moon/night and how they need each other with their names. Luna and Knight are a cute couple, and I appreciate how they grow.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC. The writing is clean and clear as Shen’s other books, the whole story builds nicely until the end. I really enjoyed Luna and Knight, from dual POVs, which alternates smoothly, but I got the idea that Shen got bored somehow and wrapped up just to be done with the story. It felt a bit rushed. Overall, I enjoyed the story. Thanks
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! Receiving an advanced copy was a delightful surprise. I believe both existing fans and newcomers will find it equally enjoyable.
This was another heartbreaking story that made me cry so bad. I loved the characters and story and so glad that I have the next two books. If you loved book one then this one wont let you down.
Luna and Knight are end goals. I absolutely adore this entire world that LJ Shen has built, but this might be my favorite couple within that world. While books are an amazing escape from reality, sometimes it takes these raw and painful stories to make us believe that real love is possible in the real world too. This book does that.
An emotional romance that explores the complexities of love, friendship, and self-discovery. The story follows Luna Rexroth, a young woman who has always been everyone's favourite wallflower, and Knight Cole, the popular football hero. As Luna and Knight navigate their feelings for each other and the challenges they face, they must confront their pasts and learn to grow apart before they can grow back together. The novel is a heartfelt and engaging read, with well-developed characters and a plot that keeps readers hooked until the very end..
I love this author so much all her books are amazing I love her characters so much and her writing this book was nothing less then what I expected it was so good and such a fun read I couldn't put it down
Amazing series!!! I love L.J Shen's work and I always read anything she puts out and she never disappoints. Definitely one of her best series.
Broken Knight was no exception it was truly beautiful.
It was an emotional rollercoaster, I was literally crying at one point. L.J knows how to put you through it and then puts you back together. Now I don't usually like miscommunication trope but in this case it was written really well so I didn't mind it. I felt like I was there like I was witnessing Knight and Luna together and it felt truly beautiful. They are literally made for each other. The character progression felt relatable and realistic because life is not always perfect, L.J's characters always feel raw and realistic the whole way through.
I am so freaking excited about the rest of the series especially Damaged Goods which features Knight's brother!
4.5/5 stars!
Broken Knight is a masterpiece of angsty, emotional, and gut-wrenching romance that will break your heart and mend it back together. The story follows Luna and Knight, childhood best friends and soulmates who have been through hell and back. They are both broken and damaged, but they are also fierce and loyal. They love each other with a passion that burns brighter than the sun, but they also hurt each other with a cruelty that cuts deeper than a knife. Their journey is not easy or pretty, but it is raw and real and beautiful.
The book is written with skill and grace, with flawless prose and captivating dialogue. The author does an amazing job of making you feel every emotion, every pain, every joy, and every hope of the characters. The book also has some humor, suspense, and steam, making it a well-rounded and addictive read. The book is part of a series, but it can be read as a standalone.
To me this book was absolutely perfect. The plot was amazingly beautiful, with some twists and turns that will shock and awe you. The characters are complex and layered, with depth and growth that will inspire and impress you. The romance is epic and intense, with chemistry and connection that will make you swoon and cry. The book is a roller coaster of emotions, but it is also a celebration of love, friendship, and family.
Overall, Broken Knight is a stunning and unforgettable read that will stay with you long after you finish it. It is a must-read for fans of dark, angsty, and emotional romance that will make you feel everything. It is one of the best books of the year, and one of the best books ever.
Absolutely loved it, the extra content was everything. I LOVED this re read - BROKEN KNIGHT literally BREAKS my heart each and every time. I loved being back in this world.
L.J. Shen doesn't miss. Highly recommend this series.
Ugh.. sighs… in anguish and in hope.
Knight lives up to his name, he’s broken, shattered; flawed and messy; but who doesn’t love an MC like that? Because he also has such a soft heart that goes with that hard exterior.
Luna is silent and tiny, but mighty. But she goes from being tiny and “weak” to growing into her power and becoming a real queen.
This story is filled with angst and heartbreak and miscommunication but the rawness of it makes it so beautiful. I had tears in my eyes several times. I was gutted. My heart cracked, but I loved it.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Broken Knight is an emotionally charged rollercoaster that grips you from the first page to the last. L.J. Shen masterfully crafts a story of passion, redemption, and raw vulnerability. The characters are complex, and the narrative is beautifully intense, delivering a powerful and unforgettable reading experience. A must-read for those who crave a love story with depth and authenticity.
To be completely upfront, LJs books are a huge hit or miss for me. And this was a huge hit. Like out of the park. I can't stop thinking about it. The way she has tied in all the family connections is really unique and I love the way she's been able to do that. Knight and Luna had a real special sort of love that defies the odds and time. No matter what they are always brought back together. The way they were their for each other was beautiful. No matter which version of Knight was present he was always there for Luna. Her Knight. And the way Luna showed up was beautiful. And the family story. Tragic. Heartbreaking. Raw. And beautiful. I cannot wait to see where this series goes.
L.J. Shen's "Broken Knight" earns a solid 3.7 stars for its unconventional romance between Luna Rexroth and Knight Cole. With torn chapters and a bittersweet ending, the story diverges from typical love tales. While the characters are well-crafted, some predictability and pacing quirks slightly impact the overall rating.
This is good! Here are some tropes/facts:
❤️romance
🏘smalltown
👬👭friendgroup
💡on/off
🗣selective mutism
🥃addiction
👨👩👧👦family
👫childhood friend to lovers
This book was a really good second part of the series. I must admit that i did not like Luna as much in the first book, but now I've gotten to know her, i really appreciate her character much more. Knight seems like a douchebag, but in reality, he is misunderstood and going through way too much. The on and off again might have been a lot, but its part of the charm. My favorite part was Luna's development into a confident, and amazing person.
Thank you to netgalley and the author for sending me the book in exchange for an honest review.
This was a pretty good read. The angst was HIGH and Knight was not always a likable character, so it was a bit of a struggle at times for someone who doesn't like that much drama and angst. Overall, it was good story.
My thoughts are like smoke right now. But I have to get this out so I can go back to rocking back and forth in the corner. (Don't judge)
This might be my favourite L.J Shen book to date which is saying a lot considering the love I have for Defy. But this was everything and made me feel everything. Fear, laughter and soul crushing devastation.
When ASH was announced I didn't want the couple in this book to be endgame. But honestly I fucking ship it to death. Ride or Die.
“I portrayed Knight as the villain, when really he was a misunderstood prince.”
It’s extremely readable, pulls you in, and moves along at a good pace, building up an engaging backstory that had me rooting for the couple. And then it became toxic and I still couldn’t put it down and now I understand exactly why it blew up.
Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks for the ARC.
