My children love the “How to Catch” series so this was a must read. This one was much more serious and sentimental than the others. It felt like this was geared towards Mother’s Day. We love this series but this book was lacking the silliness that I expected. For my family, this would be a once a year read around Mother’s Day, cute but not one my children beg to read routinely.
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC.
The newest book in - How to catch series
After discovering the “How to catch” series and reading the Santa Claus, Reindeer, Lovesaurus, I was excited to read this book to my lil one, except I didn’t understand why the mama is a dinosaur?
The mama is a dinosaur who does everything for the kids from being their chef, to alarm clock to teacher to playmate, etc. The kids are all humans.
Very fun read and cute pics - read with my four year old and we both enjoyed! Thanks for the advanced copy.
My thanks for the ARC goes to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Wonderland. I'm voluntarily leaving a review.
Have you to discovered the "How to Catch" series?
If not, it's time!
HOW TO CATCH A MAMASAURUS goes through the many jobs she might do—and do all the time for the kids. It's a sweet story filled with love.
Kids will like how it's a dinosaur instead of a human mom. The illustrations are bright and engaging. I loved how the kids are putting together everything a mamasaurus might enjoy. The free spin class cracked me up.
I highly recommend this book to add to your collection of picture books.
Happy (catching) reading!
My daughter and I love the how to catch series, so I was excited to see this Mamasaurus version. This one celebrates moms and everything they do! It's very bright and has lots of fun illustrations. This one won't disappoint, and your kiddos will love it!
Thank you Sourcebook Kids, and NetGalley, for a copy in return for my honest review.
Read this with my 7 year old daughter as she loves this series of “how to catch a”!
I love that this specifically focuses on moms and how much they do for their kids and all the lessons that moms teach their kids. Such a sweet read!
This one was a cute read. The artwork was done very well. My 2 and 5 year old really enjoyed it. I loved how it showed how much moms do for their kids.
This book is typical of the series. The illustrations are fun and eye catching. The rhymes are not bad, but can be harsh at times. For people who love this series this is another book that will be in demand at the Library counter.
We really enjoy all of the How to Catch books and I think now I have a new favorite. This was a fun one to highlight all the wonderful moms out there. It recognizes all we do and how it must be impossible for one person to do so many jobs. This one was enjoyed by all my boys ages from 2-7!
I received an electronic ARC from SOURCEBOOKS Kids through NetGalley.
Charming book in this series. Readers see the kids set traps throughout with a twist. They are celebrating this creature, and they recognize everything she does. The artwork is colorful and detailed. Be sure to study everything happening as they prepare their celebration. In particular, I love the page spread with the favorite stuffies and the chocolate trail - humor and love wrapped together. The twist with this story is that they do capture the Mamasaurus and surround her with love.
How to Catch a Mamasaurus by Alice Walstead. Children will be happy to read this book. I cannot wait to show this book to my three year old granddaughter.
The "How to Catch" books are so cute, and this one will not disappoint! We had the chance to digitally read it thanks to NetGalley, but I'll be buying it for our family once it comes out. The illustrations are great and my kids loved it! Can't wait to get our hands on it.
"How to Catch a -" books are some of our family's favorites! My kids loved this newest addition, How to Catch a Mamasaurus, just as much. With thoughtful words and projects the kids lure Mamasaurus to them. The cute rhyming adds fun to the story and it made for good discussion when we were done. Thank you!
Another great “How To Catch A” book.
My child loves several of the previous books, and this one is also a hit in our home.
Appropriate for elementary aged kids and younger, this book can be read alone or with a parents help. It was perfect for my child to practice her reading skills for second grade.
The illustrations are high quality and the writing spins a fun tale of why we all love moms.
Absolutely adorable! 5 ⭐️ Thank you NetGalley and Sourcebooks Kids for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review. This adorable book from the “How to Catch A” series would be an excellent Mothers Day or baby shower gift. The illustrations are bright and colorful, rhyming was fun and smooth, and I loved how it highlighted all the wonderful contributions moms make to their childrens’ lives. Will definitely be purchasing this for our own collection and treasuring it for years to come!
This was the first book I read from this series. I love the concept, but did not love the delivery. Reading it aloud, it just didn’t seem to flow very well. The illustrations were cute though!
This is a colorful yet unusual tribute to mothers (aka mamasaurus) and all the tasks they perform on a daily basis seemingly seamlessly. I am not sure I like the mother being compared to a dinosaur. Children approach leaving a surprise for their mother like scientists on the hunt for a rare creature. The concept is sweet but I don't think mothers should be compared to extinct reprtiles.
This book goes through all the jobs a mom does. It gives the message of love for appreciation and gives reminders of everything a mom says to motivate. It is a touching book.
Thank you to @sourcebookskids and @netgalley for allowing me to read this ARC in exchange for a honest review. This is a great addition to the "How to Catch" series. It goes through all of the things the narrator loves about his "mamasaurus." at the end of the book it even has a place for the owner of the book to write a note/draw a picture about all the things they love about their "mamasaurus." This would be a great read aloud or gift for Mother's Day. A teacher could also use it as inspiration for their Mother's Day activities. This is a ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ addition to the series.
The rhymes are very awkward and clunky. I don't really understand why it's a "mamasaurus" when the children are human. I also didn't like some of the wording, how mom handles our every wish.
I will purchase this for my library because of the popularity of the series, but I didn't enjoy it.
Thank you NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
