This story treasury has all of the classics and reminded me of the greatest reads of my childhood. Could use more pictures to entice toddlers further.
This very useful and presentable volume compiles thirty classic stories and makes them all perfectly child-friendly, and of a length that you can deliver one in not much over five minutes. Cinderella, Rapunzel, Beauty and the Beast, Ali Baba – all the classics of Disney, panto and timeless storytelling sessions are present, as well as a couple you like as not don't know so well (such as one pitching a competitive nightingale with a bat). It's very readable, and the visuals, while not doing anything spectacular, don't hurt one bit – especially with their way of "race-swapping" in a manner so much better than the House of Mouse, circa 2023. Chances are many households with a decent library for a young 'un will have a lot of this content already, but for the many that don't this is nigh-on faultless. Four stars plus – as I think a true five stars has classier visuals more suggestive of a true inheritable volume.
A fun package that would engage your children’s attention as you read to them. They can be read anytime to the delight of your kids, especially at bedtime. This book was a fun and delightful little package.
The book contains classic stories that I grew up with as a child. I remember having a large storybook with lots of pictures and I loved it for years. I was hoping this would be something similar for my son.
I was honestly disappointed by this book. When your advertising a book towards a specific age group like toddlers the audience really needs to be considered. I thought this would have a ton of illustrations simply because it is for toddlers but there were very few. I get that this book states to be read aloud but are not all books meant to be at this age group.
My three year old son lost interest in this book writing minutes.
I'm giving it 2 out of 5. I probably would have rated it higher if it had lots of illustrations to go with the classic stories.
Toddler Story Treasury
This book was reportedly designed to be a feel-good, restful read aloud for toddlers, and from what I see of the text and illustrations it definitely lives up to its promise. The stories are carefully
edited so as not to upset the little ones and give them nightmares ,but retain enough of the traditional plot and characters to be recognizable as a variation of the folk tale.
I highly recommend this book for parents, grandparents, and caretakers of young children.
A book of classic stories told in a way for parents to easily interact with their children, The instructions to the parents at the begging of the book, set this apart! I think that's such a great concept. Recommending parents change their voices for the characters, to use props and to make story time fun!
Although I think this was a great concept, it wasn't very 'toddler friendly.' The illustrations were beautiful but their weren't enough to keep the attention of a toddler. I would recommend this to ages 4-6 years old.
Thanks NetGalley, Rockridge Press and Callisto Media for access to this arc.
2/5 stars
This has a nice idea, however it barely held my attention, so I don't know if it will hold a young child's attention either, sorry! I was also expecting many more illustrations, and maybe the finished copy will have more, or at least embellishments along the page to help keep your attention, but as is it's a little colourless for a child's book.
The stories in Toddler Story Treasury are nice and short. I really wish that there were more pictures! My 1 and 3 year old weren't too interested in the book unfortunately. Like others have stated, the age range of 6-8 would be a better audience.
I did love that there were SO many stories to choose from in one book. I was weary of how the stories would unfold because I wasn't quite sure how the author, Julie Kieras, would condense each one so they would all make sense, but she honestly did a wonderful job.
Thank you, Julie & NetGalley for allowing me to read this book in place of my review!

Toddler Story Treasury is a collection of classic short stories for kids. The intended market (toddlers) seems a little unrealistic. For that age, I would expect more and better illustrations. This treasury should be marketed more toward the 6-8 year old market, I think.
Honestly, there are better story collections out there for the little ones, but this might be a good fit for early elementary students. Great for bedtime stories!
Thanks Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to review this eARC in exchange for my honest review on the book!
I read to my 3 month old over the last week right before nap time. Huge success! The stories are great and kept me entertained while reading.
I want to love every book I read as I know how much work goes into them, especially children's books, but this book was just a little much for my almost 3-year-old daughter. I think it's probably better suited to the 6-8 age group. However, if you enjoy reading to your child, you could always break it up into 1-2 stories per night.
I received a free copy of this book via Netgalley.
Unfortunately this book was not a favorite of ours. The suggested age range of it (and assumed by the title "Toddlers") of 1-3 does not seem the most fitting. My daughter is almost 4 years old and wasn't interested in most of the stories. They just weren't super exciting in comparison to other children's books with the same stories, and the pictures were tiny and spread out. This book might be better suited for readers who are starting to read longer stories on their own with less pictures, but still enjoy the classic fairytales.
This might be a good gift for a toddler's birthday or holiday, but I'm not purchasing it for my library because there aren't enough pictures (as seen from the ebook version on my phone). Perhaps the full print size is well-spaced with the picture vignettes, but I like more pictures than words on a page. If someone did a compendium of these stories with more pictures, I would definitely buy that for my library!
