Jeffery Archer has masterfully crafted a captivating tale of the crown jewels, housed in the Tower of London, and the intricate scheme to steal them. The meticulous attention to detail and historical accuracy is truly impressive, leaving no doubt in the reader's mind of the author's expertise.

The characters are expertly crafted, with Detective William Warwick standing out as a particularly well-developed and intriguing figure. Even without having read any of the previous Warwick books in the series, I was immediately drawn in and will certainly be seeking them out.

Miles Faulkner's quest for retribution is nothing short of captivating, and the plot is filled with thrilling twists and turns that keep the reader on the edge of their seat. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a truly engaging and expertly crafted story.

A Royal delight, a brilliantly written thriller that was so difficult to put down. You are caught up in an absorbing chase for the valuable crown jewels as a master criminal takes on the elite of Scotland Yard. Jeffery Archer is a master of the word and this novel highlights his ability to craft a masterful story. Highly recommended read and worthy of five stars.

Traitors Gate is another fast-paced and action-packed entry into the William Warwick saga. I love historical fiction and I love heists - in this book Jeffrey Archer mashes both if these together with aplomb. There is a reason he is known as a master story-teller. His knack for crafting unique characters is still well-honed. A fast, enjoyable read which I would highly recommend.

Jeffrey Archer never disappoints and this new addition (Book 6) to the William Warwick series will have you reading late into the night as you have to find out what happens to not only the Crown Jewels but to Chief Superintendent William Warwick.
Once a year the jewels are removed from the impenetrable Tower of London under police escort for the Queen’s Speech to Parliament. Williams and his partner have been doing the secure Royal Protection run for four years with no problems. Miles Franklin, however, is determined to undertake the most outrageous heist in history and bring down his nemesis William Warwick and his partner Ross Hogan.
A fast paced thrilling read from start to finish.

I really enjoyed this.
I’ve read one of the other William Warwick books, which I also enjoyed, and have been meaning to read the others. Now, after reading this one I really will have to.

This was as clever and as gripping as some of Jeffery Archers previous books - Not a Penny More, Not a Penny Less, comes to mind. I don’t know why it’s been so long since I read any of his other books! I will definitely have to remedy that.

I love a good read that keeps you engaged, is set in an environment that is somewhat familiar [London, Buckingham, Palace, the opening of parliament, and the Tower of London] and is light hearted entertainment.

I’ve read Jeffrey Archer books before, but none in the William Warwick series. This did not impede me from understanding the backstory of returning characters and previous interactions. This book has it all, fake paintings, crown jewels, and a dastardly villain with vengeance on his mind. It’s a page Turner, and highly enjoyable as we build up to the heist.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a light read with some good historical background.

Only one person has ever been brazen enough to try and steal the Crown Jewels... until now.

Each year, these national treasures must be transported between the Tower of London and Parliament. It's a process that has always run smoothly in previous years, particularly with the newly promoted Chief Superintendent William Warwick in charge. But this year, someone is determined to make it fail.

More than four years after his release from prison, Warwick's nefarious nemesis Miles Faulkner is back in London. He's ready to exact revenge upon several people including Warwick, Detective Inspector Ross Hogan, and their boss Commander Hawksby. Faulkner's plan is audacious and daring, but if he pulls it off, it will end in humiliation, forced resignations, and even potential imprisonment.

As a longtime fan of Jeffrey Archer, I have read most of his books and the previous five William Warwick books. I think that this is my favourite so far!

I never tire of Warwick and Faulkner matching wits and seeing how these two brilliant minds can either be used for good or for criminal purposes. It is little wonder that Archer is continuously described as the 'master storyteller'—his writing is fast-paced, his characters engaging and his plots riveting.

Warwick's precocious twins Peter and Artemesia feature heavily in this plot, sharing a competition essay they wrote about Colonel Thomas Blood, who attempted to steal the Crown Jewels in 1671. I was genuinely fascinated by this historical figure and enjoyed Archer's retelling of Blood's story.

I was especially delighted to see the re-appearance of James Buchanan, an intelligent and shrewd character whom Archer first introduced in Next in Line (William Warwick Book #5).

Although this book can technically be read as a standalone, I would highly recommend that readers follow the series in chronological order.

My only issue with the William Warwick series is that I devour each book within a matter of days and then need to wait for the next book to come out. Hopefully it won't be too long a wait this time!

Sincere thanks to NetGalley and HarperCollins Publishers Australia for an ARC of this highly anticipated book.

Five stars for an addictive read that I couldn't put down!

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. Thank you, NetGalley and HarperCollins Australia for this ARC.

This is book 6 in the Warwick series, but there is enough background information about the characters to read it as a stand-alone, although I do recommend reading the entire series as they are just great and give the extra background information.

A great story about the Crown Jewells in the Tower of London and the bolt plan to steal them. The attention to detail and the historical aspects were amazing. The characters are great and I loved Detective William Warwick. Faulkner is out for revenge and gosh, I do love a good revenge plot.
This is another fast-paced action with enough twists to keep me on the edge of my seat. The storyline is complex, but that's what makes this book so enjoyable. Definitely recommend this book

A lesson in history/ a foreshadowing of the excitement that keeps you reading. Once he gets you on the hook, it is a smooth luring you into the highs and lows as you wrestle the emotions between wanting to know more and "got on with the story already"

Yes we have a lot of elements that make the characters come alive. While I missed half the animosity between the good and bad guys, it does not affect my enjoyment of Traitors Gate.

This a well written addition to an on going series. But could be read as a stand alone. It is really a goodies versus baddies story, and always the goodies win.
But I must admire the complexity of the plots!

Jeffrey Archers’ William Warwick series of books make no pretence of what they are. Old fashioned good coppers, bad coppers, crooks tied up in a story. You know who will win and who will lose. But nonetheless, like a favourite robe or pair of slippers, they are comforting familiar stories that entertain. Never taxing but lots of clever twists I look forward to this series every year. As demanding a cuisine as fast food but always tasty., I quite enjoy this yearly treat. We are now up to when Tony Blair wins the election so the series must be closer to the end than the beginning. Simple, twee but oh so entertaining like crumpets and tea on a cold winter’s night.

'When will it be safe for me to return to London and exact revenge...'

The Tower of London: an impenetrable fortress built by William the Conquerer, notorious prison and place of execution, and home to the Crown Jewels for hundreds of years. Once a year the Jewels are let out, delivered to the reigning monarch, and worn to open Parliament. Scotland Yard provides an elite, well-oiled team to ensure the transition, in and out of the Tower, runs like clockwork. This year, however, a king of criminals has his eyes on the Jewels and revenge to enact. This year, the biggest heist in English history is already starting to be planned.

This book has more double-crossing than a game of double Dutch! You think you know the story but it soon becomes clear you do not. Right up until the last few pages, you will still be wondering just how everything will work out. All the details outlining the planning and logistics of the heist give the story real plausibility. I haven't read anything from the iconic Jeffrey Archer before, nor have I read the previous five books in this series but I was really impressed. There's enough background information given at the beginning of the story to understand the cast of characters and their previous history and current grudges.

I would happily recommend this to anyone who enjoys a good old-fashioned heist.

I have not read a Jeffrey Archer book for a long time and after reading this I can’t remember why I stopped. There is something about the way he writes that you can just tell it’s by him. I haven’t read the other books in the Detective William Warwick series, but now I really want to go back and read them in order, read all the other books I’ve missed and re-read all the other Jeffrey Archer books that I own. This book was about the crown jewels and a plot to steal them. In typical Jeffrey Archer fashion, nothing is straight forward and there’s a twisted path to get to the outcome which is very satisfying and kept me on my toes wondering what was going to happen. I liked that it was written in three parts (or 'books' as he has called them) as it was a bit like three mini stories in one. Detective William Warwick was a likeable character and I liked the way he interacted with his friends, family and colleagues. I will definitely be recommending this book to my friends.

Another great twists and turns book from Archer. William Warwick and Miles Faulkiner against each other with Miles always trying to get Warwick in trouble.
Terrific writing as always. Highly recommended this series.
