every @cleowade book feels like a love letter and a warm embrace, like she’s the friend who always knows just what to say or when to just hold space and let the feelings speak for themselves. this one found me at the perfect time, when i needed to be guided back into love, away from the weariness of worrying and wondering endlessly about things out of my control. it was a balm and a beautiful offering of poetry and light. ✨
thanks to @randomhouse for my #gifted copy — this was a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ fave for sure! #radfivestarfaves
This is a book of poetry and what I can only call quotes from the author and mini-essays. Often a poem or quote has an essay that goes with it. These often explain what the author wants to say and goes a step further. This is a sharp-edged sword. Sometimes I enjoyed the explanation but often it bothered me that the poem couldn't stand on its own. Did Cleo Wade not think they could?
It is separated into four parts with different themes. I didn't enjoy the book until the second half which focused on heartbreak and letting go.
For me, this collection is a mixed bag.
Cleo Wade's books are like bandaids for your heart...she knows what to say to make you revisit poems/passages when you need them and there is a surprise on every page. I was reminded just how much I loved Heart Talk while reading Remember Love and it is now a staple on my bookshelf
Cleo’s writing is so beautiful, and Remember Love is no exception! I immediately ordered a physical copy of this book to have and be able to revisit.
So grateful to read an early copy of this book! Thank you to NetGalley and Rodale Books for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!
Cleo Wade has done it yet again! With each collection released she has her finger on the pulse and speaks to the present moment. I adored this collection and will likely find myself reaching for it over and over again.
Thank you to NetGalley for the advanced e-galley copy. I was thrilled to read an author I love early!
as usual this was good to read adn meaningful at times. Some things I will return to again and again and some were forgotten immediately.
This is a collection of prose and poetry that explores how we can find light in periods of lostness, love for ourselves after heartbreak, okay-ness in the midst of change, and strength in letting go. I LOVED this beautiful book and I'm going to read more work by the author after this. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
Remember Love offers us a promise that love is always caring for us no matter the circumstances we are facing. A powerful guide to tenderness around our experiences and relationships.
It is basically what I expected and wanted from Cleo. Loved it and immediately bought a couple of copies as gifts.
The combination of narrative and poetry worked for me here, and I felt like I had a sense of Wade as a person and a writer (that’s not always the case, and to be fair, that’s not always preferred). There were so many reflective and poignant gems interspersed throughout that made this an enjoyable read and a journaler’s paradise. We should all immerse ourselves in self-exploration and self-excavation; Wade provides food for thought to help us on that journey. I was also in a headspace that allowed me to chew on her words. There were times I wanted more poetry to accompany the narrative, but I still feel confident I’ll be re-reading and quoting Wade to anyone who will listen. Super grateful for the advance read of this one!
REMEMBER LOVE by Cleo Wade was the calm pause I needed so badly. Drained to empty, yet whizzing in frantic busyness, this lovely book with the quiet, gentle voice and heartening words were exactly what I needed to return to myself, to know myself not as stranger, but as journeyer doing her best and failing more often than succeeding, but always giving what I can and learning as I go. These powerful words entered my mind so softly and set up home, returning to my consciousness at unexpected times. I expect that I will come back to this wise and lovely book often. I received a copy of this book and these opinions are my own, unbiased thoughts.
Incredible, the amount that I highlighted was unheard of. This is the perfect mix of poems and proses and really touches on heart break, loving yourself and finding yourself.
Remember Love is a tender new piece of work by Cleo Wade. With her trademark poetry and essays, Wade returns to offer readers a healing journey through her words. It's like sitting down with a friend over coffee and getting insight into her journey and tips for your own.
This work requires time to sit with. Time to read and time to digest what you're reading.
While I've read and loved much of Wade's work, this book felt a little underdeveloped and lacked some flushing out.
"Remember Love: Words for Tender Times" is my introduction to the literary world of Cleo Wade, bestselling author of "Heart Talk" and a well-known artist, poet, and activist.
"Remember Love" is a weaving together of poetry and prose, a continuation of Wade's long-standing devotion to inspiration, motivation, and simply being courageous enough to care. Wade explores finding light during our periods of lostness, love for ourselves after heartbreak, peace in the midst of change, and strength in the journey of letting go. Wade writes, quite clearly, from the heart with a simplicity and poignancy that is refreshing and incredibly welcome.
During a time of so much social upheaval, Wade's words gently nudge us toward steadiness and self-care along with a sense of community and groundedness.
While Wade's positivity could be misconstrued, rest assured that she writes from a place of understanding that we will experience darkness and all that life will toss our way. Her mission, if you will, is one of empowerment and equipping so that we are more fully ready to handle all of life's peaks and valleys.
I found myself particularly enchanted by Wade's poetry, typically quite short yet precise and meaningful, warm and immersive. With an awareness of the world around us, Wade calls us into tenderness and into remembering the love within and the love that surrounds us.
While not a short read, "Remember Love" has a gentle fluidity that makes it a breezy, comfortable read that you'll likely not want to put down until you've reached the very end.
This is a quick read with only 211 pages. Part poetry, part thoughts to consider. I really enjoyed this book. There were sections that spoke to me loudly and some other sections that didn't stir me but still held significance. I think it will be a book that I look back to and draw inspiration from. I looked for the author on social media because I wanted to keep a connection going. I've read other books in this category that didn't really pull me in like this one so I do feel it was right up my alley. I would recommend this as a gift book for friends and family that need some encouragement through difficult times.
Cleo Wade has a gift and ability to put into words the way different difficult situations we all eventually face in life make us feel at the moment even while encouraging us to find a new perspective and continue on.
Her words in many of the offerings really resonated with me and I found myself doing a lot of highlighting, making notes, and bookmarking several pages.
This is a book that will never get old on rereading because each time you read it, you or someone you know and/or love is in a different place in your life journey, and different writings become relevant and touch your heart.
Well done, and highly relatable, this earns 4 stars from me.
My thanks to Harmony for permitting me to read a DRC of the book via NetGalley. All opinions expressed in this review are my own and are freely given.
I've been a bit defensive of so-called 'Instagram poets' in the past because I do think there's a place for that type of poetry. However, I think I might be starting to see where some of the criticism is coming from. I felt like this book lacked the depth I need in order to feel truly connected to a piece of work. Most of the text is short snippets of Wade's take on specific issues (loving yourself, dealing with heartbreak, etc.), and then there's a few poems sprinkled in around that. This made the book feel rushed to me (I think I read it in about 30ish minutes) and it didn't feel super deep. Instead of gaining any new insights into healing or growth, I just felt a bit frustrated and disconnected. There was almost a tone of preachiness to this that I can't quite explain, but I felt more turned off to this than I normally do to stuff in the self-help/inspirational genre.
There might be some people who genuinely appreciate Wade's writing, but I just couldn't get into this at all. Not likely to pick up more from her in the future.
Remember Love, by Cleo Wade, is a magnificent gift of poetry and prose that will make a beautiful gift for anyone you love. Broken into four parts covering love, loss, grief, joy, and numerous other emotional topics, Wade shares her lyrical word expertly with her audience.
Was so excited for the ARC of Remember Love. I certainly will. Thank you for these beautiful words. I found myself returning to this book many times over the past month. Writing quotes of inspiration to put on my desk to help me navigate through the change of seasons. Thank you Net Galley, I cannot wait for the hard copy! Such a mood changer.
Remember Love By Cleo Wade is a true treasure ✨ it’s one I’m going to want to listen to again and get the book. She writes about love, heartbreak, aloneness, letting go, change in todays world, and more love ❤️.
