A good heartfelt read. A decent storyline and i loved all the characters. How ever at times the story seemed to drag a little and i found parts of the plot unnecessary.
Overall a cute and cosy Christmas read
Just one word for this book, fantastic, |Very well written and a real pleasure to read, this really was a Cornish story, I loved it. Well worth 5 stars.
Thanks to Netgalley and publisher for this ARC
Really good story.
Ivy and Adam live in Stroud, but ivy's business folds and Adam is struggling for work so they bite the bullet and move to her friend Jess's farm in Cornwall.
Ivy sets up a new bakery, and Adam gets a new job.
Set at Christmas with lots of characters this was an enjoyable read.
A really lovely story of friendships and relationships and how things change and move on.
This is one of those stories that you just want to keep reading but also want to stop reading so there is more to read the next day.
I got really lost in the story of our main characters who’s jobs aren’t going the way they planned for various reasons!
When opportunities present themselves, will they take the bull by the horns and make huge changes to their lives or play it safe and take other options.
This story deals with all sorts of relationships, parents, partners, friends and shows how by opening up and listening to others you may take opportunities that you ordinarily wouldn’t!
I love how it wasn’t just centred around Christmas but how it played a main part once you were fully into the story.
I would love to read more about all these characters, there definitely needs to be a follow up!
The friendship and love make this a heartwarming and satisfying read. Ivy and Adam are happy to work for what they want in life, but when Ivy's dream implodes, she finds it difficult to contemplate starting over somewhere new. It's a reflective story; the reader experiences many emotions through Adam and Ivy's viewpoints. There is significant character development with each life event, and you are more invested in the main characters with each chapter read. Vibrantly written settings and festivities make this immersive to read. I like the Cornish location, the inclusive community, and the emotional rollercoaster the protagonists experience.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher.
This book had all the enjoyable Christmas cosy vibes. It was an interesting read where you get to follow a small business owner pick herself up and move her business to the countryside after facing some unexpected setbacks.
Things aren't all smooth sailing but it was fun to read about her setting up her new business and all the bumps in the road that she tackles.
It was an enjoyable read.
enweneth Farm is now being run by Jess and Riley, their resident builder. Jess’s grandfather, Cappy, has given Jess free rein to run things as she sees fit. It is a huge place where all kinds of events take place. They are working hard to improve things.
Jess’s good friend, Ivy and her husband, Adam, live not far away. Ivy runs a popular coffee and cake place. Adam is currently looking for another job as a builder. When Ivy learns that the lease on the cafe is up, she is devastated because she cannot find another suitable place for it.
Jess wants Ivy to take over the bakery at Renweneth Farm but she is hesitant because it would mean moving from her hometown. When Adam gets a job offer, they decide to move to the farm where they will have their own cottage and Ivy can take over the bakery.
As it’s nearing Christmas, Jess and Ivy have all kinds of ideas for events to take place and Ivy will be making delicious cakes and doing tastings. As Ivy and Adam settle into their new life, they realize it is the best decision for them.
I loved how all of the characters encounter little problems, but with honest discussions and fair decisions they solve each of them. The characters are real and the friendships made are strong. Such a lovely story and I cannot wait to read more books by this talented author. Enjoy!

A Cornish Christmas at the Farmhouse Bakery by Linn B Halton is another in her series, Escape to Cornwall. It features Ivy and Adam but included all the people from the earlier books. Jess is making a success of turning Renweneth Farm into a commercial success. Not by farming but through retail and making it a destination with festivals and entertainments. One of her cottages had been a secondary outlet for a bread bakery in town, but now the owners had to pull out and she was in a quandary. At the same time, her friend, Ivy, in Stroud, had received the news that her landlord had sold the building which housed her cafe. Try as she might, she could not find another building. At the same time, Adam, Ivy’s husband had decided to take the leap and go back to work for someone else. He had gone out on his own after his boss wanted him to do a poor job on something, so he left. But, being on his own was hard, too. While he waited to hear about the new job, he went to Cornwall to help Riley put a new roof on the barn on Jess’s property. While he was there, they got to talking and thought maybe Ivy should come to Cornwall and open a cake bakery on the farm. She loved cakes. Ivy didn’t take it too well at first, but it quickly became her only option. At the farm, she and Adam would have the cottage they always dreamed of. Maybe it could work.
This is a slice-of life novel rather than one with a strong plot. It is strongly character-driven and as such blossoms under Halton’s hands as she writes amazing characters. They are all so likable and competent. Ivy, like Jess, is a worker. She can’t be held back. After the first week or two, when Adam arrived back at the cottage on Friday, so much had been accomplished but Ivy looked so tired. This is a fun novel on the human spirit and how it can’t be held back. These are all good people, which is not to say they don’t have problems. They face their problems head-on, talk about them, and solve them. It is a fun story to read since it is so much like daily life and yet, so different than my life. I loved it.
I was invited to read a free e-ARC of A Cornish Christmas at the Farmhouse Bakery by Aria & Aries, through Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #Netgalley #AriaAndAries #LinnBHalton #ACornishChristmasAtTheFarmhouseBakery
Lovely written, feel good book! Easy to follow storyline, but with lots to keep you engaged.
I live in Cornwall so it was nice to read something festive based here!
I had a hard time getting into this book. I found Ivy a bit annoying . I was expecting more of a Christmas story but that doesn’t happen til the ladder part of the book.
It was as a little depressing too.
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the early copy
Ivy and Adam Taylor, married and living in Gloucestershire, both hit career problems at the same time.
Jess, Ivy’s best friend from school days thinks she may be able to help Ivy out?
I have not read the first book in this collection from the author, so read this book which worked perfectly well for myself as a stand alone. I would like to read the first book now.
The characters are likeable, and it’s a lovely uplifting story. I would like to be part of the Renweneth Farm gang!
Kindness shines through.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Publisher for an advanced e-book copy. Opinions about the book are entirely my own.
The cover of this book is just so cute. I just love Christmas books! I knew i had to read this one as soon as I saw it. This was such a sweet Christmas story. It was about friendship and relationships. There is so much heart and family in this book. It has a true sense of community. I loved all the healthy baking. It sure made me hungry. Thank you NetGalley and Aria & Aries, for the arc in exchange for my honest review.
Way too much dialogue and not enough storyline made this book very difficult to follow. I managed to finish it but do not recommend it.
This was my first book by this author, I didn’t realise it was book 2 in the series. Whilst I did manage to read it as a stand-alone, I constantly felt like I was missing something, backgrounds on the characters and things that were hinted at that had happened. Yes, there was a lot explained and I was able to connect with Ivy and Adam and really root for their success, but for me I would have preferred to have read book one (and I will go back and read it)
The heart in the book was amazing, I loved the support that Adam and Ivy gave each other, trying to follow their dreams and earn a decent wage. They worked very hard and deserve all the success they got.
The descriptions of the entire place were beautiful, and when the Christmas decorations were going up I could really imagine how festive it all looked.
It was a lovely, feel good Christmas read.
This was just the perfect festive story for the upcoming festive season! To be honest all I need is a Christmassy book set around a bakery and I'm happy, This one is just lovely and really very cosy.
Highly recommend!
Festive, heart-warming and life affirming: this is the right book I needed in this time when the world seems lost in a blood bath.
It made me smile and I rooted for the characters
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this ARC, all opinions are mine
A heart-warming and cosy seasonal read. Very engrossing and was hard to put down. There is something magical about festive books and this one is no exception.
A Cornish Christmas at the Farmhouse Bakery by Linn B. Halton, book two in the Escape to Cornwall series, features Iris, Jess’s best friend from school, and Adam, Iris’ husband. The couple are now past the first year of marriage and things are not going as they planned. Iris has set up her successful bakery in Stroud and Adam is making do with the odd job here and there. However, after Iris’ landlord sells the building where her business currently is, the couple have to think through their options. Jess, Ivy’s best friend, has a solution: she suggests they should move to Cornwall to start over. She has a shop that Ivy can use to start up her own shop and, to make things even better, there is a cottage that Ivy and Adam can live in.
This is a book about community, about helping others, loving others, and supporting others; how strangers can become friends, and friends who can become family. With a blend of heartwarming characters and the spirit of Christmas, this tale is both cozy and compelling, making it the perfect read to curl up with next to a roaring fire. I highly recommend A Cornish Christmas at the Farmhouse Bakery to other readers who need a dose of holiday cheer.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
Thanks to the Publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.
The second book in the series focuses on Ivy and her husband Adam.
After Adam quit his last job, he’s now looking for work, in the meantime he goes to help Riley with his jobs at Renwenweth Manor.
As the bakery is sold where Ivy works, she’s on the lookout for new premises, near their house. But she’s not having much luck.
Jess gives Ivy and Adam a chance to make a new start with a business that’s already up and running as well as a place to live, but it’s at Renweneth.
Will Ivy take up that opportunity to move away from those she loves?
It was lovely to meet up with the characters and the festive feeling was also lovely.
I recommend this book.
A Cornish Christmas at the Farmhouse Bakery is a lovely cosy story set in beautiful surroundings. I really enjoyed this festive read which really got me in the mood for the upcoming season.
Thank you to NetGalley and Aria & Aries for my ARC.
