Even the most seemingly perfect neighborhoods harbor deadly secrets. Ariana and Damon, seeking to escape their traumatic pasts, have found solace in the gated community of Rosy Hills. With their dream jobs and a close-knit group of friends, they believe they have finally found peace. However, their idyllic lives are shattered when their neighbor, Rita, mysteriously disappears without a trace.
As the investigation unfolds, it becomes apparent that one of their own may be a killer. Ariana and Damon are faced with the daunting task of uncovering the truth before it's too late. Their race against time to find Rita alive becomes a matter of life and death, as they risk becoming the next victims if they fail.
Stacy Claflin weaves a gripping and suspenseful tale. Her ability to create tension and maintain a sense of unease throughout the book keeps you on the edge of your seat. The perfect facade of Rosy Hills is gradually peeled away, revealing the dark underbelly of the neighborhood and the secrets that its residents are desperate to protect.
The book is a thrilling and suspenseful mystery that will keep you guessing until the final pages. It is proof of the author's talent and will leave you eagerly anticipating her next book.
I couldn't finish reading this book, I I had to dnf it at about 25%. I wanted to love it but I couldn't, I'm sorry
This book sort of felt like a YA novel which Im not a fan of. It was very predictable. The ending was very disappointing.
This was a super fast read that I finished in probably 90 minutes. That being said, it was very surface level and I didn’t feel like I got much backstory or characterization of anyone on the book. I thought it said that it was the first book in a series but I felt like I had missed another book that introduced me to these characters.
The story centers on the disappearance of Rita and her friends Ariana and Lia trying to find her. The whole story takes place over the period of a couple of days. The twists were ok but again, there wasn’t enough background for them to be believable for me and ir felt like everyone was just jumping to conclusions. The end leaves the reader with a cliffhanger to (I assume) encourage you to pick up the next book.
Overall, a little shallow for me but definitely a fast read. It read a bit like a YA novel but will likely hold your interest if you are looking for something you can read in one sitting. Thanks to Netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I needed more of a back story to really get into this, which I didn't have. I did read it through & it was ok. I need to try something different from Stacy Claflin.
A short mystery, of friends doing detecting finding their missing friend. Not very deep, loosely drawn characters, I skimmed some background stuff, wouldn’t read any more in this series.
Ariana and Damon think they have moved to the perfect neighborhood. But then one of their neighbors disappears. They must find out the culprit before they wind up dead.
I thought this was going to be more of a detective murder mystery style, but it is not. It's a solid thriller but not my favorite.
This was a decent book. I loved the twists and it was fast paced and easy to read. Thank you netgalley for making this book available to read.
This definitely was not a book for me. I did not like the style of writing. It was definitely fast-paced, but a little too much for me. I felt like I didn't have time to absorb one part of the story and boom I was taken somewhere else.
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher and all opinions expressed are entirely my own.
This is a fast paced , never saw it coming and jaw dropping thriller set in a perfect neighborhood and close knit family group .The book follows Ariana and Damon who each have a past that they want to leave behind and have moved on to make friends. Their perfect life is upended when their friend Rita disappears. It's wonderfully written , well paced , character focused and thrilling.
I didn't realize this book was part of a series. I am sure I would have enjoyed it more if I had more backstory on the characters. It was fast paced enough and offered some of my favorite things: intrigue, mystery, suspense.
The sentences were short and choppy throughout and I found that to be a little odd as far as writing style.
I enjoyed the book however, it wasn't my favorite.
Thank you for the opportunity to read this ARC.
Thank you for the ARC and the opportunity to read and review.
While I enjoyed this book for what it was, I wish there was more backstory on the main characters. I liked how unique the characters are and I think this book moved at a good pace and kept my interest. Overall, I enjoyed this book. Special Thank You to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for allowing to read a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed this book ! It was a fast read and the characters seemed so realistic to me ! I think everyone definitely needs some friends like Ari & Lia . Was the plot a omg my mind is blown type of story ? No but not every book needs to be ! And I did like the lil twist at the end ! I will definitely read more from this author!
Drama from the start. Fast paced, quick read. The storyline was exciting. No back story to get bored with, which is different, but I enjoyed that. Looking forward to reading more in this series.
Thank you to Netgalley and the author for allowing me to read this book
Unfortunately I DNF'd this book at 20%. The premise was intriguing enough, however I personally couldn't get past the writing format. The book read at a much younger level, more like YA as opposed to adult. The way the sentences were short and direct made the context feel choppy and stunted. It was a basic and easy read and not only read fast (likely due to the short sentences) but the plot seemed to run at a medium to fast burn, which normally would be fine.
I think the purpose of the short sentences initially was to make it feel suspenseful, and I only expected it in that first chapter. But as the book continued and that choppiness didn't go away it didn't positively help the story along.
If there had been more meat and context in the sentences and there was more fulfilling details, I think I would have stuck with it.
This just wasn't the book for me, but I am sure there are a lot of people that would enjoy this plot.
Thank you for the ARC and the opportunity to read and review.
This is part of an ongoing series but it does well on its own. Our couple met as teens and are now married and living in a gated community with their besties, except one of their besties has a toxic marriage and she just went missing. It gets really twisty and weird while they try to find her.
I liked it a lot.
Thanks to Netgalley and Stacy Claflin for access to this book in exchange for my honest review.
This is the first book I read of this author and I loved it !! Fast paced, we don't have time to get bored. With every new detail uncovered, it becomes more and more interesting. I am impatient to read more of this series.
This book was filled with mystery and subterfuge. It was fast paced and kept my attention throughout the book. I liked the characters and look forward to reading the next book.
