A perfectly fine picture book with a cute message. I do wish it just had... something a bit more. The illustrations are cute, but overall the book wasn't a "must-buy" for our collection. I travel the world collecting picture books about cats, so I may be particularly picky.

A quickly-read rhymed narrative for youngsters, about a cat who is bored. He's read and seen everything there is on offer, he has no company, and he is just too good at catching mice. So what is there to do, but take himself off on a week's jolly, with fun and larks and new surprises. But then… well, he has to come back home. The pay-off kind of moral isn't great here, but this is still worth a consideration. I didn't get a digital copy allowing much scanning of the art, which certainly suggested finer details to peruse and laugh over. Certainly there's no suspicion of weakness in the verse, so if only the ending had more impact then it might have got well over four stars. As it is that doesn't feel generous, so that's what this gets.

A fun rhyming tale of a cat who is bored sitting at home all day, so decides to have a week of adventure! He meets some new friends and enjoys lots of new experiences. After his week is done, he is happy to go home and realises that being bored is actually ok as it led him to go out and make so many new memories. Special mention to the mice!

Great lesson for kids who say "I'm bored" a lot. Cute story about a cat who says he is bored, then has lots of adventures and realizes that it's ok to be bored sometimes - it's actually a good thing! Really enjoyed reading this with my kids.

A delightful picture book! The adventures of Mr. Patches are not predictable which gives more interest to the readers. The rhyming flows well and is not forced. Kids will love looking for the mice in each picture who go along for the trips. A good contrast between being bored and seeking activity is illustrated well through this story. I liked how boredom is explained as a natural feeling and not a disaster. Perhaps children will relate some of the adventures to ones they can find in books also.

A cute story about a cat who is bored, so he decides to seek out adventure anywhere he can find it.

The artwork is fun and colorful, and the story encourages both rest and embracing opportunities. A lovely story to share with young children.

This cute book about Patches the cat is a great way to entertain little ones with his hijinks and adventures while teaching them that boredom can be seen as an opportunity instead of a problem. Instead of sitting around sighing and complaining about being bored, as Patches did early in the story, they can go out and be social and active and curious and creative and make new friends and see things they otherwise wouldn’t have.

The illustrations by Julie Arnoult are adorably detailed, and the story is great for young readers.

Thank you Nick Schonfeld, River Grove Books, and NetGalley for providing this ARC for review consideration. All opinions expressed are my own.

Mr Patches Is Bored is colourful and cute. Mr Patches is bored stuck at home doing the same things over and over, so he decides to go on an adventure. He explores and discovers things about the world and himself.

A fun tale. I loved the bright and colourful illustrations and the humorous story.

Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC of this book. These are my honest thoughts

Princess Fuzzypants here: If you are looking for a sweet story with adorable pictures to read to your little one, this is a good choice. Mr. Patches is bored. He is bored with everything. Then, one day, he decides he is going to do something. He is going to take a week and do all the things he has only dreamed of doing.

He has a blast as told in the rhymes of the tale. Each day he does something new and fun and when he returns home he is both contented and worried. He is afraid he will be bored again but then realizes his boredom was the impetus to go on adventures. He concludes that boredom is not necessarily a bad thing if it provides the fuel to change it.

Very cute story with a good message. Five purrs and two paws up.

A fabulous little book with the cutest cat. I can see this being a hit with littles and their older siblings. I think this might make a good mystery reader book too for the time of year parents are looking for those.

A must read for all cat lovers! This book was amazingly adorable, and answers the time-old question - what does my cat do all day? The illustrations were also perfectly aligned to the tone of the story, and made reading even more fun.

I received an advanced copy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
It’s catchy with rhymes, a bored cat out of his mind. He tries to entertain himself within his house, but eventually starts his everyday adventure on a day-to-day basis. From singing to fashion, Mr. Patches is a cat that I adore. (Just like how I adore mine.) A simple and easy read.

Thank you to NetGalley, along with the publisher for the eARC. A great read for any cat lover! The illustrations look hand drawn which I enjoyed looking at. I like the message as well with this book- it is okay to be bored/ find ways to entertain yourself- which kids today need to be reminded of!

This rhyming children's book tells the story of a cat who is left home alone and is quite bored. The rhyming words are great in that for the most part they are simple decodable words and not made up words as some children's books use. Overall there is a short amount of text per page and interesting illustrations, so I think young/new readers could enjoy and find success reading this book. I would recommend this book for children in the age 4-9 range. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for giving me the chance to read and review this book!

I absolutely loved this story, It is truth that out of boredom can come ideas and new experiences. I think that children can learn through this story how that being bored and just being still and thinking can lead to good things! And what a fun way to learn it.
