A great read, I liked the setting and the characters, especially some of the new friends Nic makes when she moves. It was good that it was told from both points of view.
I loved this story! As a reader who has arrived at the big 4-0 it was so refreshing to read about more mature characters who’s kids are out of the house finding their long over due HEA. Will definitely read more from this author!
It was an ok read for me. I have found her books to be too steamy for me. Also not a fan of dual point of view. Still giving it a 3 because people who don’t mind these things may like the book
•Dual POV
•Single parents
•Strangers to friends with benefits to dating
•Small town beachy setting
•🌶🌶🌶
Hot Mess Summer is my first Melissa Foster book & I'd definitely try another. I liked the single parent, small town trope & the premise, but there were just too many side characters for me and the majority didn't add much to the story. 3 stars.
I enjoyed this story.. Sorry thought I did this review awhile ago, I always love to read Melissa stories. They come alive on the first page. You can go on a journey along the way of the story.
I love Melissa Foster but this was not my favorite. It was entertaining and different from what she normally writes. It was well-written but was not for me unfortunately.
This was such a good book. I absolutely loved Declan and Nicole. Dating after divorce is truly hard. The friends are amazing (something I don't have) and the romance is whew. The chemistry was off the charts and it was well written
I think I just may have read my book of the year, and Melissa already has contenders in that list. I really needed this book. It was such a refreshing read and one that I couldn't put down and I really didn't want it to end.
This book has everything for me. It was emotional and fun, and the banter between the two main characters was some of the best I've read. I really wish this story didn't end. I could read about this couple and town forever.
I don't want to go into any detail at all because I found everything with this book needs to be read first hand and even down to the rest of the characters you need to discover and meet them as Nicole does. Even Declan needs to make himself known and for me not to ruin him.
This book is a fantastic read, and I can't recommend it enough.
This was a great book. I connected with the characters. I felt engrossed with the plot. I would read another book by this author.
Thank you for my eARC of this book. Sadly I didn’t finish this, I just wasn’t invested enough to continue.
Very steamy, very white, some characters felt slightly annoying. Loved that she was an author, always love a book world type book, it was fun to read.
Hot Mess Summer is a phenomenal read that shows your never too old to find your forever person no matter what you've been through, there is someone out there for everyone! Hot Mess Summer is Nicole and Declan's story which is filled with so many adventures that you'll wish you were a part of!
After her second divorce and on a whim, Nicole has bought a cottage in the small beach town of Chatemup and she plans to spend her summer there, away from her ex and and all the troubles that waits for her at home. But what wasn't part of her plan was the extremely handsome single dad who like her doesn't believe in love anymore and doesn't want a relationship but that doesn't stop the sparks from flying.
Which is how Nicole ends up with an Adventure Buddy, Declan is going to pull Nic out of her shell and her writer cave and give her a summer full of adventures she'll never forget.
However the more time they spend together and with every new adventure the connection between them deepens and they can only deny the sparks for so long.
So they agree they'll explore their intense chemistry for the summer whilst Nic is in Chatemup and when she heads back home they'll both be left with amazing memories of their adventures and their time between the sheets!
But things don't go according to plan, feelings quickly become involved and both Nic and Declan are dreading the summer ending.
"You're everything, Nic. Your laugh, your smile, that wild hair. I've never met anyone like you, and this thing between us is unstoppable. We're not just you and me anymore. We're us"
Is there any way they can have a future together when Nic lives hundreds of miles away and Declan himself says his life is a hot mess and has no time for something serious?
Read Hot Mess Summer to find out! You will not regret spending time with these characters!
I absolutely LOVED Hot Mess Summer, I could not put it down! I devoured it in one sitting, I could not get enough of these characters! I really loved Declan and Nicole and how they were a little bit older than what your typical romance has, it made Hot Mess Summer even more enjoyable for me as they had in my opinion real life problems and life experience you don't tend to have with younger characters. I now want to go and find some more books with older characters so thank you Melissa you've opened up a whole new trope for me! I'm crossing my fingers and hoping that some of the side characters will get their own books as I absolutely loved this Chatemup world with characters that drew you in instantly and made it so easy to fall for them. I cannot wait for what Melissa does next, I cannot get enough of Melissa's writing, she is a top author for me and Hot Mess Summer is the perfect example of why she will always be a favourite!
Good story that keeps the reader engaged and entertained the whole way through the story. Loved the main characters and how well they played off each other.
Hot Mess Summer was a lighthearted read with plenty of laugh out loud moments and some tough decisions to be made. This was a "meet cute" story. Declan and Nicole were perfect for each other. I loved the friendship they built first before becoming lovers. It was a slow burn read with all the feels. I absolutely loved the nicknames they gave each other. Another enjoyable read.
This is a good book. The two main characters are Nicole and Declan. Nicole is divorced and has an adult daughter. Declan is divorced and has two adult sons. Nicole has bought a beach house, she goes to the beach house for the summer. Nicole is a romance writer. Declan is a fish peddler. When they meet at a party there is an instant attraction. They start dating. The fall in love.
I think this book is for someone is a very specific season of life so you can relate to the character. I personally am not in that season of life so I had a hard time connecting.
Overall I think the story was ok but not liking the chapter really impacted my opinion on this book .
These characters are amazing together, the relationships between all the characters is well structured and everyone has their own time to shine. Brilliant story as expected
One thing I really loved about this book was Nicole. I loved her girlfriends and her friendship with Declan. This book was refreshing and all of the characters were mature. There were so many moments that had me giggling.
Okay, the romance in this novel was fantastic, Declan was super sexy, the friendships and relationships were super sweet, but we need to talk about Claude! I would write a review telling you to buy this book and why you should, but I need to grab the rest of Melissa Foster's novels now. :)
A fun summer read that will leave you smiling and plotting ways to help with the next Girl Scout Cookie heist!
Declan is a charmer and a salt-of-the-earth kind of guy. Nicole’s journey is relatable: navigating life changes while rediscovering your true self.
I loved all the characters we met in the fishing village of Chatemup, Massachusetts. And the “girl gang” vibes are everything. Plus all the shenanigans will have you laughing out loud.
