A fabulous story about Erin and Tom, who both have mental and emotional baggage that they have yet to work through.

Both Erin and Tom have a connection, but both need to rely on trying to work on themselves. When Tom finds himself in a situation with his son’s mother, he relies on Erin to help him. Erin finds herself in a situation, whereby both her husband and father left behind someone that Erin didn’t know about. But with Tom’s support and her friends behind her, she begins to shine again.

Definitely a book that needs to be read.

This is a moving, engaging, second chance romance story for two people who have each been through the wringer before meeting. I loved Erin and Tom, while Tom’s cheeky five year-old son Carter and their dog Woody very nearly stole the show. While Erin, Tom, Carter and Woody are definitely front and centre, they are supported by a stellar caste of family and friends. Second Chance Love At Point Perry is an outstanding debut novel for author Joanne Speirs. The small town country setting makes a perfect backdrop for the story. Packed with every feel from grief, loss, and guilt to love and support, it engaged me from the start and held me to the last page.

Such a good debut! Keep the tissues at hand because the emotions will be ready to show themselves. I cried. I laugh. I laugh while I cried. You gave everything I wanted and didn't knew I needed. Please, keep writing like this. I would love to read more from you.

This was quite an emotional, but amazing story. It was beautiful and heart wrenching. Erin and Tom both suffered some heavy losses, but when they met, they got their new chances to start a new life. Their bond was undeniable. The story really captured my attention, there never was a dull moment and the drama didn’t feel to much. I really, really recommend it.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me a copy of the book.

This was such an emotional journey. A small town romance with many layers.

I could picture myself in the setting... hear the waves, smell all the smells. But it was the characters in Point Perry that make this book. I especially loved Tom and his sweet little boy.

There's a few twists you don't expect, and tissues will be required, but it's still a satisfied sigh when you turn the last page.

Second Chance Love in Point Perry by Joanne Speirs

Story of death, betrayal, lies, loved ones lost, and coming back from dark despair sees two people perfect for one another get their second chance at love and happiness. Great debut novel!

What I liked:
* Erin: grew up in Point Perry, made a life in Adelaide, dealing with grief from several losses, goes “home” to find a place for her mother’s ashes, begins to heal and falls in love with Tom, his son Carter, and their dog Woody
* Tom: Carter’s father, divorced, single parenting his son, lives close to his parents who help with Carter, teacher, athlete, has experienced losses, feels a connection with Erin and falls in love with her
* Carter: five years old, full of life, typical little boy, warm, caring, sensitive, really likes Erin
* Larry & Marge: Tom’s parents, own The Retreat, hard workers, caring, kind
* Friends in town: Curly, Justine, Lindy, and others
* The many twists and turns, surprises revealed, and impact the impact of each one
* The small-town vibes
* That all the negatives were explained and guilt, pain, angst, and secrets when exposed were able to be dealt with in a healthy manner
* The plot, pacing, setting, and conclusion
* All of it really, except…

What I didn’t like:
* Who and what I was meant not to like
* Thinking about how selfish and mean hearted some people can be

Thank you to NetGalley and Escape Publishing for the ARC – This is my honest review.

This is a fantastic debut, beautifully written it is filled with so many emotions, be sure to keep the tissues handy because you will need them as we get to know Erin and Tom and the wonderful characters who form such a lovely community in Point Perry, come along for a roller coaster ride to such a gorgeous HEA.

Erin Fitzgerald has been to hell and back in the last year and needs to get herself back together maybe it is time to go home to Point Perry revisit the place she lost her father and bring her mother’s ashes home to rest, will this be the place to open her heart again?

Tom Schultz is a single dad, school teacher and footy player in Point Perry he too has had a tough time but he has a beautiful five year old son Carter who means the world to him, but it appears that life is about to become very rough again when his ex-wife and mother to Carter, Hanna, now a Hollywood actor is arriving home for her film premier and to get to know Carter.

Erin and Tom meet the day she arrives in Point Perry and there is an instant attraction but Erin’s emotions are all over the place and meeting Carter is hard for her as well but soon Tom and Erin are spending time together and getting to know each other, the walls are breaking down but there seems to be things pushing those walls back up again at every turn, a secret that has been kept for many years is uncovered, Hanna’s visit reopens wounds not just for Tom but Hanna as well, but there is also lots of friendships re-kindled for Erin and the community support is huge and very much welcomed, is Point Perry truly the place for second chance love?

I highly recommend this one, I loved it from page one, it is sensual, moving and emotional, it made me cry and smile so much. Erin, Tom and Carter are so loveable and easy to be friends with, add the other residents who add so much to the story, and it is the perfect romance story, one not to be missed. Huge congratulations Joanne Speirs on this awesome debut I look forward to many more stories and hopefully visits to Point Perry, many thanks for making me smile.
