We get to see the story of Elle, a librarian and all around wonderful woman; a foster mother, with great friends and a great job, who goes on an adventure to find her birth mother and learn more of her history. With growing up in foster care, she is able to make a great foster mother and it gives her the opportunity to go on this adventure, even if it could lead to disappointment.
While this book is part of a series, it is also read as a stand alone which is great because I have not yet read the rest of the series, however I look forward to exploring more of Christie Barlow's work. The community created is so warm and inviting.
Thank you Netgalley and HarperCollins UK for this ARC
The library on love heart land by Christie Barlow
This was another installment in the love heart lane series, but can also be read as a stand alone book. We follow Elle as she decides if she wants to trace her birth mother or not. What I enjoyed most about this book was the strong female relationships and the fact that Elle works in the public library, (I'm a sucker for anything related to a library or book shop). Overall it was a heart warming read with a great setting, and I would recommend it. Right i'm off to the library! Many thanks for this e-arc in return for my honest thoughts and opinions.
Christie Barlow is one of my favourite authors - so when I had the chance to review this book I jumped at the chance!
Returning to Heartcross and spending time with some familiar characters, alongside some new is truly heartwarming. Christie always manages to bring the characters to life beautifully, which enables you to fall in love with the story even more.
Friendship, love... this book truly had everything I could have asked for!.
3.5 stars ⭐
Unfortunately, this was my least favorite of the author's books that I've read. Maybe it was my fault because I didn't realize that the main focus of this book wasn't romance, but Elle's search for her birth parents. I'm so used to the main plot being a romance that this book took me by surprise.
In this book, the author introduces Elle, a librarian who doesn't know her biological parents. She was "adopted" by dear Irene as an adult and was the best person she could have met. On Elle's birthday, she decides to start looking for her birth mother. And yes, she finds her birth mother and her father too!
Then there's the romance plot with Noah, a famous writer. In my opinion, this plot is so secondary, unfortunately... I liked the chemistry between the two of them, but I wish there had been more interaction, I wish we'd had more dialog between them because they were really cute!!!
Despite everything, it was a good book and a story of self-discovery and family. Just be prepared for the fact that the main plot is not romance, but this journey of discovery.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me a copy of this book to read and review.
This is another charming addition to the Love Heart Lane series. Elle Cooper is shy and reserved and has been satisfied being a librarian. But something has changed for her, a monumental birthday is approaching, her thirtieth birthday is almost here, and she feels she owes it to herself to find her biological mother and get answers. Growing up in foster care and going from home to home has left her with low self-esteem, why didn't they want her? Her last foster parent whom she considers her mom has been the best and she is still close to this woman, but she still wants answers. She's down to earth and doesn't really dress to impress. When an author has a book signing at her library, she's sure that's the last she'll see of him. Full of fun friendships, a friend of hers moves in so they both save on expenses. A book that has a library and book club meetings? I'll take it. I loved meeting up with the characters from previous books in this charming series again. Small town friendship with strong female friendships and the characters having each other's back and doing what they can for each other. Now this is my kind of book.
I was given a complimentary copy of this book.

Trigger Warnings
This book contains:
• Adopted adult deciding whether to look for their birth parents or not.
Characters
Elle is coming up to her 30th birthday and reflecting on many aspects of her life. She has a successful career in the Love Heart Lane public library, her own house, the best adopted mum, and amazing friends. While she still feels like she’s missing something in her life, she’s not entirely sure if she’s brave enough to chase after it.
Noah is a career librarian and has just moved to Heartcross. While he’s well known for his skills as a librarian, his quiet charm and ease makes him a bit of a draw for the women of Heartcross. And yet, he only has eyes for one woman.
Storyline
With Elle’s 30th birthday, an event to bring more people to the library and a writing competition all happening at the same time; it’s a busy time for Elle to begin a life changing search for her birth mum. Over the course of the book, all these events unfold weaving a beautiful life changing story.
Overall Thoughts
Elle and Noah are both really calm, caring and thoughtful characters. While they aren’t conducive to a dramatic, exciting storyline – there is still some drama to keep us enraptured.
It’s just a quieter type of drama.
The quiet type that keeps you in a feeling of suspense for a long time rather than the huge ups and downs that many romance books rely on. While this is a bit different from most of Christie’s books, it works really well, and I love that she did this with these quieter characters to really compliment their personalities.
Something I’m really noticing with Christie’s books now is that many appear to have a theme of adoption going on making me wonder if this is something Christie has personal experience with and is therefore including in her writing more. I of course don’t know, but it is a thought, especially with how many different ways adoption has been brought into the series.
Back again in Heartcross, this time we spend time with Elle.
Elle works in the local library with her best friend Pippa. Just before Elle turns 30 her life starts to make changes with her decision to trace her biological mum.
Meeting with friends old and new both the life’s of pippa and Elle are about to change.
A beautiful book filled with fun, friendship and loving family, I loved every page.
Thank you NetGalley for an ARC of this fabulous book.
The Library on Love Heart Lane by Christie Barlow
Thank you to Netgalley and HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter for the opportunity to read this book.
Aaah it feels so good to be back in Love Heart Lane. This is book 13 in this series.
Every time we get to follow a new character in this wonderful town. This time it’s Elle, who works at the library in town with her friend Pippa and the new handsome librarian who transfers from another town.
Elle has grown up in a foster home. She doesn’t remember her biological mother but this year she has been thinking it might be time for her to know about her history and where she comes from. We get to follow Elle in her daily life and we get to follow her on her journey to find her biological mother.
While she is searching for her mother, she is also thinking about her lost love with the famous author she had a romantic moment with. What happens when it is announced that he will come to town again? Will he even remember her?
I loved all the characters, as always this feels like a romantic movie in a book. It made me both laugh and emotional. I loved this book!
A brilliant read and one I really enjoyed. The characters are loveable. The plot is one that is engaging and I found myself completely drawn into the story and enjoyed the writing style.
Just finished this amazing book. I cannot behind to express how I love Christies books. Her characters are amazing and even though most are in a set, you can certainly read them as a stand alone as she delves into the characters more.
The setting is always amazing and makes you want to go there. The love scenes that are being made without them relaizing it and what mire could you Want then in a library. Amazing read.
Thank you for the advance copy of this Fantastic series.
What more can I say than Fantastic,
This was a brilliant story and great addition to the series of Love heart Lane.
This was an enjoyable story. The characters were well rounded and sympathetic, the humour engaging and the plot interesting enough to keep me turning the pages.
This is however the thirteenth title in the series and I found there were quite a few references made to previous events (as you’d expect) which I was completely unfamiliar with. You can read this as a stand alone, but had I realised there were so many previous stories in the series I probably wouldn’t have applied for it.
*** Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher ***
I absolutely love these feel good British books that are more like women's fiction than romance. But they are woven together so well I just have the best experience reading them. I loved the adoption them and the new friends and loves. It was the best book. 5 star cozy read for me.
I just reviewed The Library on Love Heart Lane by Christie Barlow. #NetGalley

This was an endearing installment to the Love Heart Lane series. I loved the small community and the characters. Elle’s story captivated me.
Many thanks to HarperCollins UK and to Netgalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.
Thanks to netgalley for the chance to read this book.
I previously read this as Evie’s year of taking chances and loved it.
It has been rewritten, improved and doesn’t disappoint.
Elle Cooper grew up in foster care and has always felt something was missing from her life. As she approaches her 30th birthday she decides to find her birth mother which leads to her finding new friends, old flames that helps her realise that there is more to life than where you come from.
Firstly thank you to @onemorechapterhc @christie_barlow @netgalley for the advanced copy to read & review as part of the readalong.
I’ve not read any of the previous Love Heart Lane books but didn’t feel at a disadvantage when reading this book which is book 12 in the series. I really enjoyed this book, the characters with the exception of two were so likeable. It both made me smile and pulled at my heart strings. The setting of the book was simply gorgeous and the way Christie described it transported me there. Is you want a feel good read I can highly recommend this book. 5 ⭐️ read for me. Will definitely read more of the series.
I love stories about life and this one had it all. Elle Cooper decides on the approach to her thirtieth birthday to try and find her birth mother. As always with this author, this book is about community, friendship and dealing with the issues of what life has to throw at you.
This book takes you on Elle's journey and is so heart-warming and so easy to read. It flows well, has great characters (some you may know from other books of this author/series) and is paced so you never feel bored or let down. It took me no time at all to read this book and I enjoyed it was entertained by it and found it cosy and charming.
Thank you NetGalley and HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.
A lovely book in this lovely series. I couldn't wait to start this one as I'd enjoyed the others in this series. I got lost in this story and loved the characters. It can be read as a stand alone book.
Thirteen is an unlucky for some, not for Christie Barlow and not for the readers of the Love Heart Lane series as we are back again with another wonderful heartwarming, life affirming story.
Elle loves her job in the library, but she has always known that life will not be complete until she knows the truth about her birth mother. Her foster mother is her life and she is eternally grateful for the life she has been given. But now turning 30, she thinks perhaps it is time to find out the truth.
As projects to make the library more popular start, it seems that Elle is going to learn about her past but also what might be able to make up her future as well.
Christie Barlow’s books are very strong community wise and if you have been with the series since the beginning, then familiar and regular characters make an appearance and add to the layers of the story. However never make the mistake that thus book or any of the previous, are fluffy frivolous stories. They of course have elements of that, but they all deal with some real issues that can be difficult to discuss or portray in fiction. Barlow does it with aplomb.
I cannot wait until I am back in Love Heart Lane, if only I could move there!
Love Heart Lane is one of the places I go when I want to fell good, read about a lovely place and meet great people.
This is another addition to this lovely series and it made me smile and catch up with old friend.
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this ARC, all opinions are mine
