Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
Another great book by Modglin. I always enjoy her books.
Great narrators and well done performance.

Potential Spoiler
My thanks to Net Galley and Dreamscape Media for allowing me to review this audio book.
Caide Abbott cheated on his wife Rachel and who he cheated on her with, is found murdered in their office building after a liason. The cops show up.at his house. When an arrest is made, with the person on tape, it's not what it appears to be, or is it? The big reveal was not what I expected.
Great listen. Only negative comment, Caide not likeable, but highly recommend.

Another fun stand-alone by #kmod. I was falling into a reading slump so I grabbed a KMod book because she’s so reliable for getting me out of a slump, the only thing I have to worry about is which book in her extensive catalog I’ll read next. #agoodproblemtohave
This one had a ton of characters and lots of POVs. Sometimes I shy away from books with too many POVs, characters and time jumps because I can’t keep them all straight BUT I never worry about that with KM books. She defines her characters well and has well executed twists.
This one has a man named Caide who feels forced into a relationship (which he was planning to end) with Rachel…as her father dies and then right after, before Caide can break it off, she finds out she’s pregnant. So he marries her. This doesn’t usually end well…and this story is no different.
The characters were complex and fun to unwrap.
I enjoyed this one…as with all KMod books.
#KModsquad for life lol
I def recommend it so go check it out.

The audio was a captivating story filled with family secrets, secrets between friends, and workplace secrets. It drew the listener in with its mysteries and surprising twists.
At the center of the tale was a close family, seemingly happy on the outside, but hiding deep secrets within. The family's matriarch had a long-hidden secret from her past that held the key to a family mystery.
The story also followed two lifelong friends who faced challenges together. But a secret from the past emerged, putting their friendship to the test.
In the workplace, a trusted employee had a hidden agenda that could shake the company's foundations. The audio revealed the shady side of success, where loyalties were uncertain and truths were hidden.
Throughout the audio, the listener was gripped by the emotions of love, betrayal, and redemption. Each secret revealed had a lasting impact on the characters' lives.
As the story unfolded, the consequences of the secrets were felt, testing friendships, family bonds, and the workplace's stability.
In the end, the audio left a powerful message that secrets have a way of coming to light, with unexpected results.
The listener was left pondering the delicate balance between truth and deception, reminded of the vulnerability and strength within human hearts.
Emerging from the experience, the listener gained a new understanding of the complexities of life and the significance of untold stories that shape who we are.

Oh. The. Drama. This review is for the new audiobook release of this title by Kiersten Modglin. Dreamscape Media put together a stellar cast with eight narrators to cover the many POVs in this 11+ hour read. Our main players are Rachel and Caide Abbott. Their family life is turned upside down after Caide's assistant Blair is found dead at their law office. I'll leave the rest for you to discover is you are a potential reader. When I finished there was a pile of red herrings to feed an army and I was genuinely entertained. The narrative veers into OTT territory and there are a few plot holes, but I am overlooking those things due to the fact that I was hooked by this book.
Thank you to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for a DRC in exchange for an honest review.

I really love Kiersten Modglin and was excited when I saw this audiobook and was granted a copy to listen to. The short chapters were good at keeping the story moving, but it didn’t move as quickly as I would have liked. I do love that you get the story from so many different perspectives, I think it really makes a story more interesting. I think this book was not one of my favorites because the courthouse scenes didn’t feel realistic to me. I did think he narrators did a great job and I loved that there was a team of them to really bring the characters to life. Rachel and Cade’s marriage hasn’t been great in a while, but they have been hanging on for their two kids. When Cade gives in to the feelings he’s been fighting for a colleague everything changes and nothing in the way you would think it would. The book is very twisty.

3.5 stars
This was another super twisty domestic 🍿thriller by KMod! I liked how it was a bit longer than her newer titles so there was more time to settle into the story. It also meant that there was room for more unreliable narrators and twists. I did not see the ending coming from this one!
*Thanks to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for this audiobook copy for review.

Reading Between the Wines book review #86/115 for 2023:

Book: Becoming Mrs. Abbott

Re-RELEASES on audio TODAY, July 25, 2023!!!
Sipping thoughts: The physical copy of this book was released in 2016 so it was a nice treat to have it released as in audio. My first time reading this and boy did I enjoy the ride!! There were so many theories that I created in my head and all of them were dead wrong, and I loved being wrong, lol! In KMod’s fashion, the reveal and twist is one that will have you shaking your head. Jump right into this book and see if you can figure out what happened! I dare you! But I know you will not figure it out. Look out for other earlier releases from Modglin that will be released in audio.
Cheers and thank you to @NetGalley and @DreamscapeMedia for an advanced copy of @BecomingMrsAbbott.

Thanks to Netgalley for an advanced audio book in exchange for an honest review!
This just took the #1 spot for my favorite book by Kiersten Modglin! Family drama, murder, and so many twists you will not see coming. Ending was brilliant!
I especially loved that this audio book had a full cast. A different narrator for each different POV and this story had several.
Go read (or listen) now!

Thanks to #NetGalley and #DreamscapeMedia for the ARC of #BecomingMrsAbbott. This book just plain brilliant. I don’t know how you do it, Kiersten, but you always leave me standing there with my mouth open. It was non-stop action, lies, trickery and twisted.

Kiersten Modglin does it again! All the twists and turns in this book had me from the jump! I did not see that last one coming, and I loved it! I will always read a book by this author!

This is my PSA for those of you who, like me, abhor when a book is republished under a different name and I end up re-reading it with a sense of deja-vu until I realize I'm not psychic but predicted the plot because I'd already read it.
Becoming Mrs. Abbott is Kiersten Modglin's FIRST BOOK published in 2016 under the title IF IT WALKS LIKE A KILLER. That is not mentioned on the Netgalley page, but should be. Modglin is a self-published author with 39 (not a typo) books written between 2016 and 2023. As she has built a fan base, established a huge social media presence and reading took an uptick when the world locked-down, she has established herself as a powerhouse in the domestic thriller genre.
It's quite impressive.
The thing I found most interesting about this book was it's length. My one complaint about a Modglin audio book is they tend to run about 6 hours. In a world where a credit on Audible buys a 6 hour book, or a 26 hour book, all for the same cost, it hurts my budget to buy the quick reads. I was happily surprised to realize Mrs. Abbott was slightly over 11 hours. Now, knowing this is not the newest, but the first, of the Modglin catalog, I wonder if part of the reason she averages almost 5 books a year, is she figured out that developing lengthy plots with multiple characters means fewer books in a year. Ms. Modglin, if you are reading, give us longer books please.
Overall, absolutely read this one if you are part of the Modglin fan base. It is full of lying, intrigue, deception - all perfect for readers of thrillers. As an audiobook reader, thank you 100x to Dreamscape for bringing these books to the masses.

The Perfect Family living the perfect lie
Caide Abbott met Rachael in college and they both knew immediately that they had something special. When Rachael tells Caide that she is pregnant, his first reaction is ~” let’s get married!”
Now a daughter and son later the Abbott’s seem like the perfect couple. However, recently they have been arguing a lot due to Caide’s long work hours ~ missing value time with the children.
When Blaire Underwood Caide’s beautiful coworker is found dead, Caide is a suspect, however, when the police arrive to arrest him, they ask for Mrs. Abbott
This story was a bit longer than the typical K-Mod. It is a rerelease of her 2016 thriller [book: If it Walks like a Killer] I don’t know how I missed the original story but this is great!
Not only the typical K-Mod twists and turns but twists and turns within the twists and turns!!!!
This is my twenty-first author, Kiersten Modglin!Yep I am a member of the K-Mod Squad a fan club!
Want to thank NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for granting me this early unputdownable audiobook.
Publishing Release Date scheduled for July 25, 2023.

Becoming Mrs Abbott is a slow burning psychological thriller, with various twists throughout and read by a full cast of narrators.
It took me a little while to get into this book, because to be honest I wasn’t a huge fan of most of the characters and it takes some time to really get going, I was about 60% of the way in before I felt truly invested. I must admit I was not quite sure where it was going to lead at times, which I class as a good thing. The premise itself is clever even though it’s a bit cliché it was still an exciting twist.
One thing I really disliked about the book is the unrealistic law representation, particularly near the start of the book. As far as I am aware (and please note I am not an expert) the defence counsel would have already seen the CCTV footage before they went to court, as it would have had to have be disclosed in discovery by the prosecution in a timely manner, so that the defence are able to study it. I also felt like the courtroom representations could have been done better.
Overall this is a good book and the audio version certainly elevates it. All the narrators are great and really help differentiate the characters and bring this to life.
3.25 rounded down.

Oh, my goodness! This thriller is an absolute gem, hitting all the right notes with murder, affairs, court proceedings, deception, and an abundance of thrilling twists. Kiersten Modglin has outdone herself, and whether you're a long-time fan or new to her books, this one will leave you craving more.
The intensity of the story is palpable, propelling the plot forward at such a breakneck pace that I couldn't help but devour it in just two days. Even with the audiobook spanning 11 hours, it flies by as you get immersed in this captivating whodunit. The narrators have done a remarkable job, skillfully bringing to life the different characters' points of view.
"Becoming Mrs. Abbott" packs a punch, fulfilling every thrill reader's desire for an adrenaline-filled journey. The plot is so enthralling that I found myself wishing it would never end. This book is an absolute must-add to your summer reading list!
Without a doubt, an exquisite listen and, in my opinion, the author's best work so far! Many thanks to NetGalley, Dreamscape Media, and Kiersten Modglin for providing the audio ARC of "Becoming Mrs. Abbott" in exchange for an honest review#BecomingMrsAbbott #NetGalley

I love this author and I love a full cast audiobook! I’ve listened to many of their author’s audiobooks and she always has the best narrators, this one was no different. The storyline was intriguing and I was hooked from the very beginning. Interesting twists throughout and an all around good read!

I don't know why it took me so long to get to this book. I was sucked in from the beginning. I loved the audio because of the full cast. I don't read a lot of books with a full cast in an audio and boy it was so enjoyable. I thought all of them did such a good job telling the story. Modglins writing is so amazing! I love all of her books pretty much. This one is definitely a must listen!

I will start by saying, I love this author. But this is not my favorite book by her.
I love a good family drama. And KM writes the most messed up married couples I have ever seen. She didn't disappoint with that. And we know from the start they got married because of a baby coming, so it was not for love.
And I don't want to give more details so that others can decide for themselves.
The whole concept was very far fetched. And I felt the book was much longer than needed.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for an ALC in exchange for my honest review.

Book 3.5 stars
Audio 5 stars
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC copy of this audiobook.
I enjoyed this audiobook! It’s about the trial of a man’s mistress, where his wife Rachel is being accused of her murder.
The plot is *full* of twists, though some of them are quite far fetched in my opinion. I think it the story was drawn out a little longer than it should have been, however I did overall enjoy the story, and always love Kiersten Modglin’s writing!

3⭐️ 0.5🌶️ 4🎧
This was a wild ride but not always for a good reason. Yes, this book had the insane twists and turns with truly horrible people that I have come to expect from KMod and that is always fun.
But I was so confused for most of this book. Things didn’t make any sense. I am not a lawyer and don’t pretend to be even an arm chair expert. But a defendant should not be blind sided by security footage and DNA evidence during the trial. All I could think of was Marisa Tomei saying, “it’s call disclosure, you dick head!”
The timeline and logistics also confused me and really pulled me out of the story because I just had so many questions.
There were a lot of POVs in this book, some I didn’t feel were exactly necessary. But this did make for a really cool Audiobook since there was a whole cast of narrators who did a wonderful job.
Overall I would give this book 4⭐️ for the twists but 2⭐️ details.
