This is the second instalment to the doctors wife but could be read as a standalone. I haven't read the first instalment before reading this but i will go back and read it now.

This was a fast past read with lots of twists. You will find yourself second guessing what you think will happen.

I read this book in one go. Definitely a page turner that keeps you guessing. I will definitely be reading the first book and I look forward to the last in this trilogy.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC! The publication date is the 23rd August 2023. This is book #2 in ‘The Doctor’s Wife’ series now it’s the Doctor’s Widow as the title suggests Fern murdered her husband but it can quite easily be enjoyed as a standalone.

This book was so captivating it drew me in from the very first page. I like the way the author recapped in the prologue what had happened in the previous book ‘The Doctor’s Wife’. My favourite character is Fern she was always scheming and you would always wonder what she would do next! This book is perfect for psychological thrillers fans alike. I read well into the night when I should have turned light dying to know what would happen next definitely a page turner!

Overall, I throughly enjoyed this second series of this book and all the plot twists that it presented! Another cracking book by Daniel Hurst!

A good follow up to the Doctor’s Wife. This one moved slower but was still good.. The story flowed well and the characters were well developed. I recommend this book and look forward to more from this author.

****Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an ARC in exchange for my honest review***

This is Book #2 in The Doctor’s Wife series. In the first book, Fern murdered her cheating husband, Dr. Drew Devlin and framed his lover, Alice, for the crime. Having enlisted Alice’s husband to help her, she also killed him, making it look like a suicide. Now she is happily spending Drew’s very large life insurance policy money and a new man has entered her life. But, is he truly who he says he is? Or will he be her downfall?

I enjoyed the first book in this series; I thought it clever and entertaining. This one, a true sequel, not as much. I did like the chapters written from alternating POVs, learning the inner thoughts of all the main characters. While Fern wasn’t all that likable in the prior story, she was presented as even shallower and more one dimensional in this one. Some of the motivations of the characters were a bit incredulous. Despite this, I couldn’t put the book down. The ending set up a third installment in this series. I’m not sure I care enough to pick it up unless there is a really original plot twist…which is what I am hoping for!

This is the sequel to the doctors wife but could be read as a standalone. This was a fast past read with lots of scheming and lies and makes you question is anyone really as they seem.

Once I had started this I couldn’t put it down and was a rollercoaster of a read that kept me on my toes from start to finish

Can’t wait for the next instalment of this trilogy

I loved book 1 in this series. Well, that's not too hard, because I have loved each and every book I have read by this author.

What is so good about them? Let me rephrase that. What is not good about them?Silence... ;)

Fern is not a very kind person, but as a character in a book, you just have to love her. The way she can plot and save herself is incredible. You, as reader, even believe what she says even though you have 'witnessed' otherwise.

I adore the way the author can take you by the hand and lead you in one direction one minute, to spin you around in an opposite direction the next minute.

I cannot wait for the next book, because I am still sitting on the edge of my chair. I just have to know everything. 5 stars is not enough for this amazing story.

Thank you

I believe this is my first ever one star review here. I feel like I should apologize for that. I feel like it is not ok to have bad things to say about a book only. Yet I also feel like if I do it any other way, I would be lying.

This really isn’t easy to write. Then again, it *is* easy to write. I was ready to write this before I started reading this book, I was just hoping it would not come to this.
I told myself that this is the last chance I’m giving Daniel Hurst. If this book is as horrible as the last few, this is the last one of his I’m reading.
What is going on there? What is wrong with Daniel Hurst? He used to be one of my favorite authors. I loved all his books. Up until this year. I absolutely loved, loved The Doctor’s Wife. Then I read all the books he published this year, and each felt like it was written by someone else. Not the same person who wrote all the other books. Yet I still had super high hopes for this book. After all, the first book was so good! But… no. I’m sorry, but there is not one good thing I can say about it.
The plot? What plot? This was a story where nothing ever happens, it drags and drags and not even in a fun drag show kind of way.
The characters? Flat and shallow. Empty shells with names.
The plot twist? What twist?
Thriller? Zero thrills.
Psychological – what? Nothing.
Whoever is this new Daniel Hurst writing all the books this year – he also dislikes women and thinks women are shallow and dumb. It has been in every this-year-daniel-hurst-book. All they care about is looks and… they bond with other women over being married to someone as great as a doctor and that’s how they make friends. What? Huh? No.
The ending? I’m assuming this new Daniel Hurst is planning a book three in the series?
Either way, the implied cliffhanger at the end also fell flat.
Oh, and to add to the book being unbearable – someone in the last trimester of their pregnancy is taking a pregnancy test and it is positive? Yeah. No. HCG levels at that stage have gone way down. And all the fancy life of a doctor who is just a small-town GP – come on. GPs are overworked and underpaid. GPs aren’t plastic surgeons.
In case Daniel Hurst has gotten a ghostwriter to write for him this year, please, please, get a new ghostwriter. This one is bad.

This was a great thriller which had me hooked. I really enjoyed the first book so when I seen this I was overjoyed could not wait to read about what Fern was up to now. Fern is a very wealthy woman now the Dr is not around. She has met a new man Rodger was unexpected, but he is romantic and kind, just what Fern needs in her new life. But Fern is keeping a massive secret which if found out could ruin her life. As Fern and Rodger get closer will she open up to him about her past and how much danger will that put her in.

This was a gripping enjoyable read which I highly recommend. I think you could read this as a standalone but would benefit of knowing Ferns background from the first book which is also fantastic.
This book was sent to me electronically by Netgalley for review. Thanks to the publisher and talented author.

The Doctor’s Widow isn’t quite as good as The Doctor’s Wife, which I absolutely loved, but I still didn’t put it down until I’d finished it. Short, fast paced chapters make it a quick read. * If you haven’t read the first book go back and devour it first before enjoying this one.
I can’t wait for Book 3 to find out where Fern ends up next.
Thank You to NetGalley, Bookouture and Daniel Hurst for the opportunity to enjoy this ARC.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for this long-awaited next chapter in what will be an exciting thrillogy. The story picks up as Fern is about to reap the rewards of her successful plan to get rid of her cheating husband and see his mistress behind bars for the crime. She has the insurance money, has a big new house and is looking forward to reconnecting with old friends. A chance meeting in a bar gives her hope for a future. But Roger isn't who he pretends to be, and Fern is none the wiser. Roger has an agenda and puts his plan to work with dangerous repercussions. The characters are conniving and manipulative. I loved that there were short chapters and no time jumps and the story flowed easily. I thought the story was devilishly good and the twists are great. I look forward to part 3 of this story because it ended in a bit of a cliffhanger. I think Daniel Hurst has done a wonderful job of bringing the story to life.

“That woman tricked me. She's not the only one.”

While I did not read the first book. It was easy to read this as a standalone and I loved it! There was so much mystery and revenge with twisted turns.🤯 I can’t wait to see what happens in the 3rd book!

Let’s get into it.

While Fern was living her life she met Drew. The handsome doctor ended up marrying her and living the good life on his arm was a result of it. While the marriage may look picture-perfect on the outside. Behind closed doors, you never know what’s going on. Secrets lie beneath it all.

When Fren thinks everything is working out in her favor along comes Roger. Keeping him at a distance so she doesn’t make any more mistakes. She ends up falling for him fast and hard while picturing a future with him. Yet Roger has a different plan in mind.

Her 40th birthday is when everything changes….

If you like a fast-paced mystery thriller, you will love this book!

Thank you, Daniel Hurst and Bookouture, for the EARC! As always, my review is my opinion and thoughts. This review will be shared on my Instagram (Alexandriavwilliams_) shortly.

What's next for Fern? Has she really got away with what she did and found happiness with Roger? Or will her deeds catch up with her? A brilliant sequel to The Doctor's Wife, I loved this and couldn't stop turning the pages until the end. Lots of shocks and thrills. Fantastic! Really hope there's another one!!

I love Daniel Hurst's books and this one did not disappoint. Prepare to be enthralled once again as Fern Devlin returns, even more twisted than before! The devious machinations continue in "The Doctor's Widow," the captivating second installment of "The Doctor" series, where Fern's new boyfriend, Roger, proves to be a formidable match.

Just when you think the grieving widow might find solace and security, her life is thrust into turmoil once again. This thrilling roller-coaster of a ride picks up right where book one left off, leaving you uncertain about whom to cheer for. I found it just as riveting and enjoyable as the first novel, and I'm already eagerly anticipating a third book in the series, especially considering the jaw-dropping cliffhanger ending. I can't help but speculate on the title of the next installment!

Without a doubt, Daniel Hurst has earned a spot among my favorite authors. His books never fail to deliver a whirlwind of speed, excitement, and twistedness! I implore the author to hurry and pen the third book—this reader can hardly wait to dive back into the gripping world he has crafted! My heartfelt gratitude goes to the author, Bookouture, and NetGalley for granting me digital access to this riveting story in exchange for my candid review. #TheDoctorsWidow #NetGalley.

Fern Devlin is back and more twisted than ever!! The scheming continues in The Doctor's Widow, book two of The Doctor series, and Fern might have met her match with her new boyfriend, Roger. Just when the grieving widow starts to relax and is feeling safe, her life is turned upside down again. This fast-paced thrill ride continues right where book one left off and will make you second guess who you should be rooting for. I really enjoyed it, just as much as the first novel, AND, I predict that we will see a third book in the near future, as the story ended with a major cliffhanger. I have a pretty good guess at what the title will be, too! Daniel Hurst has quickly become one of my new favorites! His books are always fast, fun and totally messed up!! Hurry up and write the third book!

Thank you to the author, Bookouture and NetGalley for allowing me digital access in exchange for my honest review!!

The Doctor's Widow by Daniel Hurst is the follow-up to The Doctor's Wife but, in my opinion, it can quite easily be enjoyed as a standalone.

Fern relished her pampered life as the wife of Dr. Drew Devlin, and was very much in love. But when the good doctor strayed, it was only reasonable that he be punished, and now he is dead. Suddenly, Fern is a very wealthy widow and sets out to begin a luxurious new life. Meeting the handsome Roger was unexpected, but he is romantic and kind, just what Fern needs in her new life. Can it really be as simple as that, leaving her past well and truly behind her once and for all? Fern is about to find out.

I love all of Daniel Hurst's books and this latest sequel, to be honest, was one that I didn't know I needed. Brilliant, as always.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for an ARC.
