I’ve been anxiously awaiting this sequel to The Doctor’s Wife and it was worth the wait! I devoured it in a day, totally neglecting my to-do list to find out what was going to happen next!!
Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to receive this book for an honest review.
This book is the second book in the Doctors Wife trilogy.
This book is about a wife murdering her husband and what she does to get away with it.
Her husbands friend becomes suspicious and starts searching for answers. He pretends to fall for the doctors wife to get a confession.
Even though she confesses she does not get captured. I am looking foward to the next book...
What a great 2nd book to this series. I loved the first book and this was amazing and didn't disappoint. It is amazing concept of a story and I couldn't put it down. This author has become one of my favourite authors for thrillers and can't wait to read more in the future
I LOVED The Doctors Wife and was begging in my review for a sequel, so when I saw Daniel Hurst had actually written one, I was over the moon. This was a fantastic follow up. The sequel was full of suspense and a game of cat & mouse just like the first book. I will say I didn't love the ending and epilogue of this one though and just hope it was leading us into the next book. Otherwise. I would be pretty disappointed with the ending. The whole book was so tense and I felt like the ending didn't really match that energy. However, I do think another book will be coming based on the way it was set up and another game of cat & mouse will be played for ultimate revenge. I love these characters and I am not ready to let them go. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
The Doctor's widow by Daniel Hurst and Narrated by Luke R. Francis and Sarah Durham is the second book in the brilliant The Doctor's Wife series and what a rollover coaster ride this audiobook was. It's a gripping gripping psychological thriller and if you haven't read the first book The Doctor's Wife I highly recommend you do and it will not disappoint,
I highly recommend this book.....Brilliant from start to finish.
The narrators Luke R. Francis and Sarah Durham were brilliant and worked well together.
Big Thank you to Daniel Hurst, Bookouture Audio and NetGalley for the audio copy. I am voluntarily leaving my honest review
I really enjoyed the first book, but this one just didn't feel like it was needed. Seeing that there's gonna be a 3rd, I just can't do it lol. I won't be picking up the next one.
This was so good even though I didn’t read the first book in this series! I now need to go back and read the first one. I will say, I did not feel at all confused popping into this series. It was so well done!
Wow! I really felt for the MC Fern who is the dead doctor’s widow. It was crazy to want to support the crazy villain, but I still want her to win. I didn’t read the first book, so I don’t have all the details if she is the true villain or not.
I can’t wait for the next book in this series to come out! In the meantime, I will be reading the first book.
Thanks NetGalley and publisher for the digital copy in exchange for my honest review!
I just love Daniel hursts books and this one doesn’t disappoint. Part of a trilogy and can’t wait for the last one. All the twists and turns can’t eat to find out what happens next
Wow what a book. Creepy and compelling. I was hooked from start to finish. Absolutely brilliant. A wonderful, unputdownable read.
Thank you to NetGalley for sharing this book with me. This one must be read sun series order. Otherwise you’ll feel like you’re only reading the middle of a story. The characters were interesting and I was definitely ready to read #3. I wish there was more resolved at the end but that’s how it goes with a series. There’s some parts of the plot that aren’t believable but it is fiction after all! Overall, I enjoyed it.

I always enjoy Daniel Hurst books. They are really quick reads with a good twist. Excited to read the third part of this book. Highly recommend!
A worthy sequal to The Doctor's Wife. Like with Daniel's other books it's fast paced and to the point. Thoroughly enjoyable. I will say that I found it a little bit unbelievable the way Fern just all of a sudden confessed to "Rodger". There were certainly a few surprises along the way. Very satisfactory ending and I cannot wait to see what book 3 has in store for us.
100% you need to read book 1 to truly appreciate this one! i found daniel hurst last year and he has been nothing short of amazing! such a fantastic thriller author!
this cat and mouse game between alice and fern is super intense. fern pisses me off like no tomorrow. hate her! but still i found myself conflicted on her behavior. i loved the cliffhanger ending!
So the story continues. Fern, newly widowed feels ready to move on with her life, after her husband betrayed her and ended up murdered.
Fern, has his money and the keys to an extravagant new home in a high class neighborhood. A fresh start with no betrayal and nobody knows her darkest secrets. She believes she has escaped the truth. Then Roger comes along, she never sought out for a relationship, much less for “love”!
Roger, is far from a doctor or that paycheck, working in sales. But he is romantic, loving and interested in her but is it for the right reasons?
This was an excellent follow up to the first novel. The thrill of the unknowns had sucked me in from the start. It was a quick and easy read but kept your heart pounding and anxious pretty much the whole time, literally until the last page.
I can not wait for the third book to release in December.
I received this book as an ARC, in exchange for my honest review and opinion. All thoughts are completely my own. Thank you , Daniel Hurst for another wonderful story and truly delivering a continuance to the story. Also, many thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for always allowing me to get my hands on books first!
Having read the doctors wife, I was delighted to read this foolow on book.
Fern is settling into life following the murder of her husband Drew. Knowing his killer is behind bars and the killers husband also dead, Fern is enjoyed a luxurious lifestyle living off of Devlins life insurance payout.
Although wanting to keep it a secret she has slso started dating Roger. Little does she know though, Roger is on a mission to find Drews killer, with his key suspect being Fern. As their relationship develops, Roger digs deep for the truth. However this cones with a very heavy price. Has the killer struck again?
Really enjoyed this book and gave a totally different perspective on Ferns character. Whilst in the last book, their was an initial degree of sympathy for her, this book shows her psychopathic character.
Highly recommend this read with twists along the way and a worthy ending.
I love Daniel Hurst books- I always know I'm in for a wild, fun ride when I start one of his books!
This is the sequel to The Doctor's Wife, and you MUST read that book before this one, as this is full of spoilers!
It is the aftermath, and again we have different POVs to get stuck into, and this is a favourite tool of mine in thrillers- keeping the reader constantly entertained.
There is constant drama, and whilst I don't think there were any 'jaw-dropping' unexpected twists, I still thoroughly enjoyed it, and raced through it in just a couple of sittings.
In The Doctor’s Widow, we pick up the story several months after the events of The Doctor’s Wife. Fern has gotten away with it. Away with murdering her adulterous husband, framing his mistress for his murder and killing the mistress’s husband to keep the truth from coming out. She just wants to put the past behind her and move on with her life. A new life with Roger, a man she is falling for.
But Roger isn’t who she think he is. In fact, Roger isn’t Roger at all… And that’s not the only secret he’s finding.
I knew what I was getting into here. A popcorn, beach thriller that I can whizz through, like I did earlier this year when I fairest discovered Daniel Hurat. But I didn’t enjoy this as much as I hoped. I get why - the book felt like it took a long time to warm up. For a good half of the book, I was waiting for the penny to drop. For the train to go off the tracks and for this to turn into a game of cat and mouse. But it didn’t happen, and when it finally did, the climax was over far too quickly for my tastes…
But this was still fun. Don’t get me wrong. This was a fun, crazy read, but I just wish for something more from it.
Am I going to read more from this author and the next book in the series, The Doctor's Mistress? …er, yeah. I knew to know where this is going!
The Doctor's Widow is another twisty and turny read from Daniel Hurst. It follows on from The Doctor's Wife so you really need to read that first. It was a quick and easy read but I feel not quite as good as the first.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for my ARC.
I enjoyed the doctors wife much more than the widow. You definitely should read the first book in this series before this, as this book directly continues from the doctors wife.
Fern is living her best life. After inheriting everything from Drew after his death, new car, new home, and even a new boyfriend. Her new boyfriend roger however, is really Greg, a friend of Drew’s who is determined to prove that Fern played a role in Drew’s death.
We are supposed to be watching Roger and Fern fall in love and them get closer to one another but I don’t feel that at all. Their relationship is very flat and not at all progressing.
Rogers plan is to have Fern get drunk and confess her secrets to him. But she’s a cold and calculated murderer, this plan shouldn’t work.
I found this book to be mostly boring. Not much at all happens until over 60%, and then there is no conclusion at all. There will obviously be another book and this one is just filler. If you enjoy the first one, I would wait until the third is out to read this one so you can continue the story in hopes for an ending.
I read book one in this series and enjoyed it, but this book seemed far fetched and repetitive.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers.
