If you loved The Doctor’s Wife, then you’ll love The Doctor’s Widow. Picking up right where Part 1 left off, your questions will be answered…but that’s only temporary, because more questions will develop within the first 50 pages as a new story unfolds. A mystery man from Drew’s past is now a new love interest for Fern? Who ends up in more danger—Fern or this new lover? How is Alice coping with prison life? Does she accept this fate or seek revenge herself? Lots of plot twists and the ending…OH BABY! Part 3 has to happen!

I absolutely devoured this book! I couldn’t put it down, right from the start.
The cliffhanger ending has left me thirsty for more, so I really hope there is a third book to wrap everything up!
I hadn’t read the first book in the series, but that didn’t matter at all - I was able to enjoy this as a standalone book, though I loved it so much I will now certainly be going back to read the first book while I eagerly await a third 🤞🏻

Well if you thought The Doctor’s Wife was a thrill, this is an absolute, unputdownable rollercoaster ride of so many twists and turns that it’ll give you whiplash. I don’t want to give any spoilers away, so many details can’t be revealed. We essentially pick up where book 1 ended. Fern, the doctor’s widow herself, is back and ready to start a new life. A beautiful mansion, sports car, more money than she knows what to do with and new, loving boyfriend make the future very bright for Fern and maybe she’s given up her need for revenge after all. Looks can be deceiving! DO NOT HESITATE to pick this up as soon as it’s released and see what awaits Fern, Alice, and Greg and a few other familiar faces along the way. Huge praise for Daniel Hurst!!!!! Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read this arc.

This is the first book by the author and I was very impressed! As this is a sequel I took the time to read The Doctor’s Wife to have better understanding. Two easy read thrillers that took me only a couple of days to read. I enjoyed them but found some of the twists a little predictable. Not bad books just not as gripping and shocking as other thrillers I’ve read! Like, the Doctor’s Wife, its sequel ended on a cliffhanger, I feel invested in this story and have my theories of what’s going to happen next!

𝑰'𝒎 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑰'𝒗𝒆 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒈𝒐𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒏 𝒂𝒘𝒂𝒚 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒎𝒖𝒓𝒅𝒆𝒓 𝒂𝒈𝒂𝒊𝒏...

This book was like watching a villain on a reality show get their comeuppance, and you sit and stare with an open mouth, unable to look away. You'll definitely need to read THE DOCTOR'S WIFE before reading this installment.

Fern is enjoying her new life as the grieving doctor's widow while Alice is stuck serving a sentence in prison for a crime she didn't commit. Fern is dating Roger, who seems to be the perfect man to start a new life with; however, what Fern doesn't know is that she's not the only one in this new relationship keeping secrets.

Fern is a character you will love to hate...will she get what's coming to her? Will Alice be exonerated? What secrets is Roger keeping? Everything builds to a shocking crescendo, and then the ending was startling and abrupt. There is definitely room for book three! Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for this early read. THE DOCTOR'S WIDOW will publish August 23, 2023.

Wow. What a rollercoaster ride this was. I struggle a bit with stories that alternate between chapters of one character to the next but this was superb. I didn't read the first book in the series but that didn't matter as enough was given in this book to know the pertinent details. Just when you feel you know what will happen it carreers off to a new thread. The characters are all totally relatable whether you like them or not and you are rooting for justice to be done. There's enough left unsaid to allow things to come as a shock even if you think its what you would have done. Another winner from Daniel Hurst. Cannot wait for his next book.

This is another scorned woman’s revenge series.
For some reason I am rooting for Fern on this narrative. I felt bad that she gets cheated-twice! I also think that Greg/Roger’s character is not that strongly established to be setting “revenge” for his late tennis buddy Drew. Sadly Fern’s not good covering her bases and making sure there are no lose ends. Nonetheless, I enjoyed reading this book.

I loved the Doctor's Wife so when I heard we would get the opportunity to follow Fern and Alice after the events that happened in Aberness. I couldn't resist!

Fern is enjoying her life as the Doctor's Widow while Alice is miserable serving a prison sentence she didn't deserve. Fern's new boyfriend Roger seems like an honest guy and the perfect man to start a new life with. What Fern doesn't know is that his name is actually Greg and she's not the only one in this new relationship keeping secrets.

This was kindve like watching a train wreck, you know what's going to happen and you know it's going to get messy but you can't look away. I enjoyed following the 3 perspectives of Fern, Greg, and Alice and watching all of their tension come to a head. This book left me wanting more and I can't wait to see what will happen next!

Thank you to Daniel Hurst & Netgalley for the privilege of reading the ARC of the Doctor's Widow!

I just completed this awesome novel. Daniel Hurst really knows how to add twists and turns to his novels. He should design roller coasters as a side job.
I truly didn’t want this book to end. It would make a wonderful made for TV movie.
I wonder if he’s considering making it a trilogy. I could see that as a possibility.
Thank you to the publisher and author for my hours of wonderful entertainment.
Thank you, Daniel Hurst! Keep them coming!

The Doctor's Wife #2

I loved my husband, Dr Drew Devlin, but he betrayed me. And now he is dead. As I put the key in the lock and open the door to the luxurious new home I've purchased with Drew's inheritance money, I'm certain the worst days are behind me. My secret is safe, and I can't wait to enjoy my new wealth and freedom. Then I met handsome Roger, I wasn't looking for a relationship. but we spend our evenings drinking wine on my sunny terrace, I realise he's just what I need right now. Roger is nothing like Drew, he's spontaneous and romantic. And most of all, he's honest.

First of all, if you haven't read The Doctor's Wife, I highly recommend that you read that book first before you start reading this book. For those of us who have read The Doctor's Wife, we already know most of the contents of this book. Fern Devlin is back and she's even more twisted than before. I loved The Doctor's Wife, so when I saw there was a sequel, I was so happy to get an early copy of The Doctor's Widow. But my happiness was short lived. When I got to that ending.... I was thoroughly enjoying this fast-paced read. So much so that I devoured it, but that ending, why did you end it on a cliffhanger? I do hope that there will be a third book to tie up all the loose ends.

I would like to thank #NetGalley #Bookouture and the author #DanielHurst for my ARC of #TheDoctorsWife in exchange for an honest review.

Synopsis (from Netgalley, the provider of the book to review)
******************************************************
She trusted him. Now she’s paying the price…

I loved my husband, Doctor Drew Devlin, but he betrayed me. And now he’s dead. As I put the key in the lock and open the door to the luxurious new home I’ve purchased with Drew’s life insurance money, I’m certain the worst days are behind me. My secret is safe, and I can’t wait to enjoy my new wealth and freedom.

Then I meet handsome Roger. I wasn’t looking for a relationship but as we spend our evenings drinking wine on my sunny terrace, I realise he’s just what I need right now. Roger is nothing like Drew, he’s spontaneous and romantic. And most of all, he’s honest. He thinks I’m a rich, lonely woman. He’s wrong of course, there’s so much more to me…

But then one night, when we’re curled up in bed together, Roger says something that makes my blood run cold. I think he knows the truth about my life as the doctor’s wife. I will do anything to stop my past from catching up with me… But is Roger really who he says he is? Or is my life now in danger?

An absolutely gripping psychological thriller packed with jaw-dropping twists from the number one bestselling author of The Doctor’s Wife. If you love Behind Closed Doors, Gone Girl and The Girl on the Train you’ll be hooked on The Doctor’s Widow.

Daniel Hurst does it again – wow, what a head spinner. Mind? Blown! I ripped through this book in one fell swoop as the thrills just built and built and I questioned what I was actually reading … did it go there? Yes. Now patiently awaiting book three. Recommended without a second thought along with Mr Hurst's other books as I have yet to find one that I do no like!

There is barely any dialogue in this book. The story could have been wrapped up in book 1. I enjoyed book 1 but didn’t really enjoy book 2.

Thank you NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest opinion.

4.5 stars around it up to five! What a fun read. Thank you to the author and publisher for the ARC - make sure to get this upon its release in a week!

After reading the first book in the series I was super excited to see what our friend Fern was up to. With Alice locked away & the new lease on life, she is navigating the life of a doctors widow while still on the high of her latest victories. Like the first book in the series, this is sure to keep you guessing & on your toes - it is a fast paced exciting read. I thought I had it figured out about 10 times, but in true Daniel form I was completely wrong. I personally love having a villain as the main character because it offers a different perspective and I found myself wondering what she would do next and trying to figure if she would or wouldn’t get away with it. The tie in of characters from the first book was well done too and made me feel more connected to all of their pasts.

This is an excellent sequel, while it felt a bit similar to the first book in parts it really picked up and left me yearning for more.

The ending of the book truly threw me for a loop, and I am very excited to see any sort of continuation with the characters.

★★★★★ 4.5 stars (rounded up)

"While there are some differences between the two men, namely Drew having a much more prestigious job than Roger has, not to mention my late husband had a far nicer home when I firts met him than the one Roger currently resides in, there is one big difference that makes Roger the clear winner between them when all things are considered.

Unlike Drew, Roger has no secrets."

She's baaack!!

Fern Devlin, the doctor's widow, is back and enjoying the fruits of her labours. That is, the generous life insurance policy hubby Drew took out, not to mention the spoils of his estate left behind for his grieving widow. And boy, has she been enjoying those spoils!

First on the agenda was the sports car - a Mercedes. But now that that novetly has worn off, Fern has just completed the purchase of a large house just shy of a million pounds which she then has repainted and redecorated to her tastes. Unfortunately, that also means the smell of paint fumes. But needs must.

"I am doing even better as the doctor’s widow than I was as the doctor’s wife."

It's been four months since the demise of the illustrious Dr Drew Devlin and the incarceration of his lover Alice Richardson. Fern thought herself quite clever to outsmart the pair, killing off her adulterous husband then setting up his lover to take the fall, and getting the sweetest revenge on them both for the ultimate betrayal. Of course she had help. Alice's poor betrayed husband Rory assisted Fern in her devious plan and when he served no further purpose, she assisted his suicide also.

But no one knows any of this. Not even suspects slightly. All the evidence pointed so clearly to Alice that the police looked no further and the jury wasted no time in convicting. To all intents and purposes, Alice is guilty and paying for her crimes whilst Fern is nothing but the grieving widow.

But Greg knows different. Or at least, he suspects as much. You see, Greg knew Drew and he knew something about Fern no one else did. And now after his friend's demise, Greg is intent on uncovering the truth about what really happened to Drew and how Fern carried out her dastardly plan. Of course he has no evidence. But he intends to get it by any means necessary...

Enter Roger. Fern's new love interest. They met in a bar one night and have tentatively been out on a few casual dates, had a few booty calls and taking it one step at a time. For Fern, it's early days and she wants to see where this will lead, while for Roger, he wants to earn Fern's trust enough that she will confess all to him. For Fern, she's falling in love and thinking babies with her new man, while for Roger, he just wants to get that confession on record and hightail it out of there.

But...Fern's clever. She's devious. She's always been one step ahead of the police and everyone else. Can he outsmart her and get what he needs? Will his plan for entrapment be successful? Or will Fern discover the truth?

I thoroughly enjoyed Daniel Hurst's latest wild ride throughout England's north once again with Fern once again at the wheel. We are joined by Greg, Alice and Detective Tomlin who share the narrative with the doctor's widow. Although this one was lacking Hurst's trademark dark witty humour, I still enjoyed my foray with him in the passenger seat of this thrill ride.

Fern Devlin is a character readers love to hate. She's guilty as sin, we know she is, and yet she's got away with her crimes and continues to do so. But is her luck about to run out? With the insertion of Drew's former tennis buddy Greg, in the form of her new love interest Roger, we are counting down the seconds until BOOM! the inevitable happens. Which is what, exactly? He's found out? Or Fern is?

Hurst cleverly pulls us in as we ride by the seat of our pants in this addictive sequel to "The Doctor's Wife". While there is no mystery aspect to this story - everything is as you see it - Hurst is still able to keep the tension palpable as you turn the pages and race towards the shocking end...or is it?

I admit, I emitted a groan as I flipped that final page. NOOO! Now there HAS to be a third book, which I don't mind, but I really thought everything would be neatly wrapped up this time round. I guess I was wrong. In that, Hurst has pulled a shocker of an ending. Now I eagerly await book 3.

As always, Hurst never fails to thrill or entertain - both of which he has done once again.

A sequel to The Doctor's Wife, I was gripped from the first page. So many twists and a cliff hanger ending so I cant wait for book three in the series.
Many thanks to Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read this ARC.

Thank you #DanielHurst & #NetGalley for keeping me awake until the early hours! This is by no means a complaint !! I was hooked the moment i began reading. Book 2 of hopefully 3 or even 4 in #TheDoctors series was fast paced, gripping, ‘wishing I could read even quicker’, and left me wide awake with thoughts of ringing someone, anyone, to tell them to READ this book and see if I was right to want to call Daniel & demand to know “what next!?” 😂 Obviously I don’t have his number, sadly….but I sincerely hope there is more to come from this amazing series & the brilliant characters within. Wish I’d read Hursts’ work sooner, consider me a new fan!!!!

A quick and easy read. Despite not having read the first book, I was able to understand what had happened based on the provided flashbacks. I read the book in one sitting and enjoyed it, but as an avid reader of mysteries and thrillers, the outcome is predictable. The book ended on a cliffhanger, therefore I assume book 3 is currently in the works. Without a doubt, I'll read the next book to find out what happens to Fern.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an E-ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The Doctor's Widow is book two in The Doctor's Wife by Daniel Hurst.
I really enjoyed reading The Doctor's Wife so I was pretty excited to start this upcoming title and Hurst didn’t disappoint!
This was an absolutely phenomenal read. It was so very gripping, clever and thrilling.
When I say this book has me hanging on the edge of my seat… not even lying!
An incredibly fast-paced book that was impossible to put down.
This is a set that can easily become extremely bingeable.

"I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own."

Thank You NetGalley and Bookouture for your generosity and gifting me a copy of this amazing

Another great story by Daniel Hurst! I loved seeing the story continued in this sequel and the ending leads me to believe there will be more. The dual POVs added great depth and always kept me guessing what would happen next. An amazing fast paced thriller.

4.5 star rating..thanks to Netgalley, Daniel Hurst, and the publisher for an advanced copy for my honest review.

money from her recently deceased husband, Dr. Drew Devlin. (You will have to read Daniel Hurst’s previous book, The Doctor’s Wife, to see how Dr. Devlin meets his demise.)
Fern has a new man, Roger, in her life now and she is eager to see where this relationship takes them.
But is Roger who he says he is? After what she went through with Drew, she is skeptical of any man who shows her affection, so she intends to take it slowly with Roger.
Alice, Dr. Devlin’s accuser, who is in prison, also makes an appearance in this book. She only has one friend in prison who is soon to be released and receives letters of support and visits from a former policeman, Greg, who is determined to prove her innocence and get her freedom.
I devoured this book in one day. As usual, Daniel Hurst has plenty of twists and turns to keep you interested and guessing until the very end. The good news is – he left us hanging for another possible sequel!
He is one of my favorite authors – if you enjoy this book, he will probably be one of your favorites, too!
Hope there is a sequel soon!
