This series is not only one of my favorite cozy mystery series but also ranks as one of my all-time favorite series!
I love everything from the covers to the characters, to the amazingly complex and entertaining mysteries that keep me endlessly entertained and glued to the book until I reach the end.
I think this is one of my favorite mysteries we've had in this series.. but then I say that after I finish every book lol
Lemmy Beaglehole (what a name!) is the judge for the annual Valentine's Bakeoff, and when I say he has no fans that is an understatement. So when he ends up dead after tasting some cake, there is no end to the number of suspects. With no one able to leave at least they wont have to chase anyone down farther than their hotel rooms for questioning.
There are so many twists and turns, and puzzle pieces to put together along with all things that are seemingly connected but could absolutely just be coincidence, and even though I was diligently following along trying to solve the case alongside Jemma and her sidekicks I had no inkling of who the killer was until it was revealed.
I will be eagerly awaiting the next book, and I hope we get many more mysteries to solve!!
This is the first book I have read in this series but I was soon caught up with the characters and I loved the beautiful rural setting of this novel made even more cut off as a storm hits and everyone is stuck in the hotel but they are not alone one of them is a killer. This is the perfect beach read for those of you who love murder mysteries like Miss Marple etc..
Jem and Rhys have had another row and Jem heads off to see her best friend, Pauley. Pauley is heading to another island as the head of an annual cake bake-off at the luxurious Bay View Hotel. The timing is terrible as a major storm is blowing in. After they arrive, ferry service and air service are shut down and no one can get on or off the island. Few contestants, few vendors, and unhappy hotel guests don’t stop Pauley from proceeding with he bake-off, with a universally despised judge. Soon there is a body, many suspects, and Jem with the help of her friends, is on the investigation.
This was a fun mystery with an interesting cast of characters. The mystery kept me guessing right till the end.
Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the ARC.
This gives all the Nancy Drew vibes! This is the first in the series I have read, and I will for sure be reading the first four! This cozy hometown mystery makes you feel like you are a part of the family yet keeps you on your toes! I flew through this and fell in the love with the characters! I can't wait to follow Jem to the next adventure!
It was the annual bake off that use to draw crowds,, now they were coming for a new luxurious hotel. What Jem wanted was chocolate and desserts. When the head critic is murder, it draws her to solve the murder. Nice cozy mystery with twists and humor and the setting added to it, that I enjoyed reading.
Given ARC by Net Galley and Outsiurce for my voluntary review
Jen, the main character in this book, tries to solve a murder. She and the other realistic characters keep this story moving quickly. The setting of the hotel adds to the intrigue. Secrets abound. I liked this book. This book was sent to me electronically by Netgalley for review. Thanks to the publisher and the author.
