This fourth volume in the Royals series focuses on Easton Royal, the misunderstood middle child who is all id: drinking, smoking dope, fighting, driving fast cars and faster planes and screwing any chick that will have him, consequences be damned. He meets his match in sweet musician and loner Hartley Wright and when he sets his sights on her, she is unconvinced; sometimes his affection and interest edges over boundaries of consent for my taste.

Readers will appreciate the reappearance of recurring characters: Ella and Reed are still going strong, even with Reed away at college; Sebastian and Sawyer and their girlfriend Lauren are peripheral until the end of the novel. The lawsuit with Ella’s dad Steve is ongoing. We also meet the family that Hartley is estranged from: her DA father, perfect older sister and mentally ill younger sister, and her mother, trying to hold the family together and picking the wrong side every time. Like other unputdownable books in the series, this gritty new adult dramatic romance featuring high school students is fast-paced, and details of wealth, abuse, addiction, extravagance, and privilege are both fascinating and eye-rolling.

I was so excited to get to this series, and it delivered! This is the fourth book in the series, but I read it as a stand-alone, and then had to get to the others right away.

The drama, the angst, and the steam made for quite the enjoyable read, and I loved her storytelling.

*many thanks to Berkley Romance and Netgalley for the gifted copy for review.

I could not wait to start this one. I had read the series back before it had been rebranded. But I had never made it to Fallen Heir. So finally getting the chance to start it was perfect.

I enjoyed this one. I feel like I am in a doffrent place then I was back when I originally read the other books. So getting back into the same headspace was a little challenging.

But I still really enjoyed how the story progressed and all the new editions and twists and turns.

This series is still one of my favorites and holds a special place in my heart. As it was one of the forst books my best friend and I bonded and not only spent a road trip listening to together. But then kept reading "together" even when we lived states apart..

The fourth book in the series, it can be read as a standalone but I think its better apprecaited having read the 3 previous books.

I'm so glad we're seeing Easton get his own love story. And ooof that ending. I can't wait to see how this all ends up

This series has become a guilty pleasure of mine. Easton is a fun character and I enjoyed getting to see him grow during this book. At the start of the book his only goal is to have as much fun as possible. Easton is floored when he meets Hartley Wright and she tells him no. It doesn't make sense to him that a girl who clearly finds him attractive could be immune to his charms. Hartley makes it clear that she is not interested and that Easton needs to grow up and she just might be right. Easton can't let her go that easily and insists they at least be friends. He has a long road in front of him if wants to make Hartley his own.

3.5 Stars

Easton Royal is simply use to getting what he wants. He is a Royal after all. He has his eyes on Hartley but she is not budging on giving him any play. She actually friend zones him but it doesn’t stop him from trying to get into her panties. Hartley just is not the kind who you jump into bed with. She is different than the other girls at the school.

I have to admit that I wasn’t necessarily keen on reading Easton’s story. Not that he wasn’t entertaining in the series so far, but readers already know he has a lot of issues going on and I just wasn’t up for it. Easton came on very mean in this book. He is always drunk and saying mean things to the women in the book, especially Ella. He then apologizes but does it all over again. I didn’t really warm up to his character like I did with Reed.

Hartley seems like an interesting character but I can’t say much about her. The book is mostly in Easton’s POV and his personality takes over the story. The mess that he keeps getting himself into is out of control as he tries to get the girl. He just pushes her away more and more.

The drama in this book is just over the top. I say that each and every book but I do mean it this time. These teens do whatever they want and the adults are just there for the ride. I thought we wrapped up a potential problem in the series but for some reason the problem is back. I am shocked. I wonder how is this even possible. Some of these characters keep making a comeback. What does this mean for all the main characters? At this point everybody in the story is a main character. Without giving away the cliffhanger, I will say that even I was like, what is going on?

I’m invested in this saga. I will read the next book to see where the drama leads us. I highly recommend this for fans who tend to love over-the-top stories with a lot sexual tension.

𝟰 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗥𝗦! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⁣

I’m so invested in this family. I’m a sucker for drama and angst, and lord, this series has it in spades. ⁣

Easton Royal is like a golden retriever. He’s all over the place with excitement and jokes. He’s everyone’s good time guy. Under all that is a broken person who has so many issues. I want to hug him and throttle him in equal measure. ⁣

His bewilderment over Hartley’s lack of romantic interest in him is refreshing. The guy is use to having women fall at his feet. And their panties. I really enjoyed their budding friendship and Easton’s protective nature over it. It doesn’t stop him from self sabotaging it, but you get the sense that he’s really trying to be better for Hartley. ⁣

This book ended on a massive cliffhanger, and I’m thankful I have the ARC for the next book. Cliffhangers make me stabby and I’m eager to see how the hot mess at the end gets resolved.

Fallen Heir is the fourth book of The Royals series. I was so addicted to the first three books of this series. I love Reed and Ella and couldn’t wait for Easton’s story. Easton is struggling with addiction and trying to live up to his older brother’s reputations. He doesn’t make the best decisions and is self destructive. Then he meets Hartley, the new girl in school. Hartley just wants to get through life and stay off everyone’s radar. She really intrigues me and I can’t wait to learn more about her in the next book. I flew this book and can’t wait to start the next one. After that ending I need to start it now! I loved getting more of Ella and really want more of the Royal family…especially Callum! I really want his story!

This book was fun, super cute, and an easy read for me. I didn't find myself getting too invested in it, but overall I enjoyed it for what it was. Definitely a book I read head empty, brain off, and just sat here and enjoyed the ride!

It's book four in the series, so there's already so much you should know (despite it being more of a standalone type), after having read all the books, I would definitely say that this one was not my favourite but still enjoyable!

The characters have interesting dynamics and chemistry, which makes the book fairly interesting! I really liked it, and enjoyed it at the simplest of levels. It was a fun royals type romance that was cute and steamy! The co-writing of this book made this book ten times better and I loved the style that the authors took it in, so kudos to them!

Thank you NetGalley for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

For this series and especially this book, you really have to suspend your disbelief, but I devoured it the same way I would the latest episodes of Love is Blind.

Thanks to Berkley and NetGalley for my chance to review.

Weirdly I only got approved for books 3 and 4, so I am going to use the same Netgalley review for both.

I first read(aka devoured) this series a number of years go as it first released. I am picky when it comes to my bully romances, but this one treads the line perfectly. The writing is just that good. All the books bring all the feels.
So I am super excited that they are getting a new life with a traditional publisher. I hope the authors are encouraged to write more together. I have loved all of their books.

My only disappointment is that the bonus content isn't much. Not worth buying a third copy. But still, for someone who hasn't read them, definitely do so! You won't be disappointed.

I loved this book. I loved Easton’s narrative, and I love that I was instantly drawn back into this fanciful exciting, complicated and dramatic world of this family. I so love how Easton acknowledges his flaws and is quite apologetic about it. And this book definitely was a journey of self-discovery for him, which was engaging and entertaining to read about!

I came from TikTok. I stayed for the tension. The tension of this entire series is soap-opera A+.

Thank you to NetGalley and Berkley for the ARC.

I love this series so much!!! Erin Watt has such a gift in crafting a family and characters that feel so real, like they could leap off of the page! The drama and horrible events this family has gone through and each siblings’ struggle with dealing with their own trauma is both heartbreaking and all-consuming. I have become unapologetically addicted to this series and fully trust Erin Watt to deliver on everything that deals with angst, drama, and a scorching romance! Highly, highly recommend!!!

I want to thank NetGalley and Berkley for providing me with an egalley of this book to read and give my honest review. The opinions expressed here are my own.
I'm going to start by saying I had very high expectations for this book, Easton is my favorite character in this series and I saw so much promise from him in the first three books. When I saw this was about him, I was truly excited, I could not wait to start and see him develop into a character I liked even more. This book had the potential to ignite even more in this series and really make it shine. And I say potential with a heavy heart because that's all there was.
Let's start with the plot. It's basically Easton trying to come to terms with himself. Of course it would be because Easton has a lot of ghosts he needs to face. But other than the introduction of a few new characters, there really was no plot. The pot was story after story of Easton doing the wrong thing, every single time, and never ever learning from it. There was zero arc to this plot. Just a straight line from A to B. I had to push through to finish it.
Easton's story deserved to be told. But this book did not show me the Easton I came to know and love in the first three books. This Easton was someone totally different. And I expected the plot to follow him from this sort of jerk that we have grown to know and love to a bit more of an enlightened character who grows and changes. Nope, he was the same from the beginning through the end of the book. Thinking he would change but then continuously falling back to what he was. And his relationship with Ella? Right back to book 1 with him just being an ass most of the time, saying the wrong thing, and Ella constantly taking it. What happened to the strong character she was built as through the first three books?
There were so many issues with this book, What happened to the twins? They were great in the first three books, though we didn't get to know them all that well. But the glimpses were good and their relationship with Lauren was something I would have liked to see the story of. And Lauren? UGH. She went from this sweet girl to a controlling demon. Why? Then there is Hartley, the new girl, though previous books alluded to Easton being interested in someone. But she was never part of anything prior as she's been away for three years. So who did Watt really have in mind when that tidbit was introduced? I don't think Hartley was it. Felicity? That whole part of the plot was dumb!
Overall, I just can't say I am happy with this installment. It was a wasted opportunity to take a character and make him shine. Instead, we just see him as a drunk, addiction prone jerk. Did the cliffhanger make me want to read the next book? I'm going to say probably because I would like to know if Watt can redeem the damage done with this book. But overall, if I'm going to tell someone to read this series, I would tell them to stop at the third book.
