"The audiobook of "NOT THAT FANCY" is a true gem, largely thanks to the brilliant narration by Reba McEntire. Her storytelling is so captivating that it's almost like being in the room with her, savoring her delightful anecdotes as she "spins a yarn" (as she would say). Throughout the audiobook, her personal touch and down-to-earth demeanor shine through, making her legendary life feel relatable and endearing. The way she brings life to each story and seamlessly guides the narrative is nothing short of remarkable. Listening to Reba tell her story added a whole new dimension of enjoyment to the book. One particular moment that struck a chord with me was listening to her talk about her best friend (not an entertainer) and how much fun they have together. It's these unique qualities that set "NOT THAT FANCY" apart and left me thoroughly enchanted by this wonderful memoir."
I received an advanced reader’s copy from net galley in exchange for an honest opinion.
This book definitely fell into the rules I’ve placed on myself. Reba is a favorite for me, I love her music- I’ve seen her in concert and in this case it was an opportunity to hear her in her own words with her own voice.
Like a catch- up lunch with a good friend this checked all the boxes for me. It was funny and engaging and sweet advice, the perfect length of time. I loved the story about her and Rex becoming the Tots! (As a personal aside, I could not fully appreciate the space covid gave me at the time. I didn’t know what to do with myself, all my plans were on hold and there wasn’t anything to be done about it or speed it along. It was nice to hear I wasn’t the only one. To come out on the other side a new and changed person, with new direction. Reb wrote a book 😊)
If you love country music, you'll know the down to earth personality of Reba McEntire and in this lessons in life memoir you get to read how genuine her persona truly is. With this memoir Reba lets you in on her side of the story of her life events in a rich, humble, salt of the earth kind of way. If you loved Reba before you'll love her even more after you read this book. I can only thank Reba for being willing to share the lessons she has learned in her life. If you get a chance to listen to the audiobook like I did, you'll find her wonderful southern accent filled with hope, peace, and honesty. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of the audiobook for an honest review.
Thank you NetGalley for this digital free ARC. I like Reba McEntire very much and this book was a true joy. I would recommend this book to anyone who is a Reba fan. I also feel this book would be a wonderful gift for anyone who likes Reba McEntire.
All that was included in the audiobook preview was the introduction which served as a great teaser but left me wanting to know more of what is included in the actual book. Hard to recommend or not based on this shortcoming. Based on the potential of the description I would rate this 4 stars but based on the audio preview I heard I would have to rate this 2 stars
I was really excited to receive this audio book. I loved that it was narrated by Reba, the author. To my disappointment, it was just the introduction. I would have loved to learn about her family and life in Oklahoma but alas, I guess that's happening.
