Who could go wrong with a Grease theme? I guess you can, a little. Sandrine and Dane definitely feel like Sandy and Danny from Grease, but maybe a little too much. This book went a little too far for me that it seemed to lack any sort of originality beyond the time period. It's cute, but very predictable obviously and a bit boring.

Lenora Bell is a powerhouse in historical romance and this book shows the true romance and character development she is so well known for.

You're the Duke That I Want by Lenora Bell is the first book in a new series called The Thunderbolt Club. In this charming new rom-com the readers are introduced to Sandrine who is a beautiful wholesome romantic girl, who catches the eye of a Dukedom’s rake, Dane Walker. I think that I would have loved the story and gotten into is more if after Sandrine realized that Dane had withheld his identity and is actually acting like the world biggest jerk it didn't seem she still kept falling for him so fast. This is all due to him getting blackmailed, the dukedom being in peril and not much spice if like me you like heat between your heroine and her hero. All in all it’s a decent start to a new series. Perhaps the next one will be an even better read. I received an ARC from the publisher and NetGalley and provided my honest review.

This is the first installment of a captivating new series, The Thunderbolt Club, and it is off to a great start! This is a Grease-inspired story and it was absolutely delightful! I loved Grease and I found this Regency rendition very well done and as fun and sexy as the original. If you are a Grease fan, I think you will be happy with this one. Sandrine's life is pretty ho-hum, but when Lord Dane Walker visits her hometown, she is utterly charmed by him, but then he just up and disappears. When she visits London, she is shocked to find out that the same gentlemen she met at the beach is a notorious rake. When they cross paths, he pretends not to know her, and that's when her and her friends devise a plan to teach him a lesson. But despite her motives for revenge, she still can't stop her heart from beating only for him, and he can't keep his feelings hidden forever.
A fun and entertaining start to a new series! I think the writing was well done, I definitely got Grease vibes while reading. The characters were fun and well-developed and I enjoyed following their story. Looking forward to reading the next installment!

I'm personally very fond of retellings and love seeing a new interpretation, especially if I'm already well acquainted with the source material. As someone who loves musicals, I've seen Grease more times than I can count. I even watched it again after reading this book. I was very familiar with the film and caught all the sly references scattered throughout the novel. You're the Duke That I Want was a love letter to Rydell High, Pink Ladies, and Greasers far and wide. It featured plenty of Easter eggs while still maintaining its own original story. It was a very long book that contained a Greased Lightning full of plot, but I still managed to have a good time.

You're the Duke... was a fun romp and I can see how instrumental Grease was to the author. There were so many references threaded throughout the novel: titles, cramping by the beach, and lots of coy callbacks to the script. I loved catching them all in my reading experience. I'm sure it would be rather confusing for those who haven't seen the musical. My only critique was that it was a shade overlong where the author was balancing a retelling as well as an original story. While I appreciate her dedication, I found myself ready to move on to the next scene. I liked all the characters, but I could have used more pertinent dialogue than filler descriptions.

I really enjoyed the walloping adventure that was You're the Duke That I Want. Grease was a firm staple of my childhood, singing all the songs at the top of my lungs. In retrospect, they weren't the most politically accurate lyrics and I know they've definitely been changed for modern audiences. I had a jolly good time with the Thunderbolt Club and I'm absolutely chuffed that my favorite scarred duke is next in the lineup. I'm quivering with anticipation and you can bet that You're the Duke That I Want.

I didn't know this was a retelling of the movie Grease until a quarter of the way through and then it made sense. I think I would have liked this better if it didn't stay so close to the movie. It felt like it was scene for scene.

This was a cute story, that’s a Grease reimagining in historic Victorian times. This leaned very heavily on Grease, which could be fun for fans of the musical or movie but the loose regency/Victorian period rules of decorum was an adjustment for those who read a lot of historical romance.

There are fun moments, it’s playful though I found the characters a bit one dimensional and not fully fleshed out. I felt it leaned so hard on the Grease retelling and not taking the time to either flesh out the characters or add in some originality.

You're the Duke That I Want is a retelling of Grease set in Regency London, and it's really delightful.

Sandrine lives in a seaside village with her overprotective mother. She has a brief romance with a newcomer to town, who then departs suddenly. When Sandrine comes to London a few weeks later, she's shocked to learn that her erstwhile suitor is actually Lord Dane Walker, a notorious rake and heir to a dukedom.

Lenora Bell's books are always a lot of fun and this is no exception. Sandrine still likes Dane, but she's very mad about his deception. Dane still likes Sandrine, but he pushes her away because he's being blackmailed and he doesn't want to put her in danger.

This has everything I like in a historical romance: just the right amount of tension, a couple to root for, witty banter, family secrets, and interesting supporting characters.

I definitely recommend this one.

I loved this book!! It was fabulous and well done. The characters were on point and I thought the plot was well developed. I would recommend this book to others.

In true Lenora Bell fashion this story is wonderfully written and the characters are very well developed. It took me a few chapters to feel the magic of Bells characters. To see the depth of Dane like Sandrine did. Dane is a rake to the bone, convinced he’s irredeemable but small town good girl Sandrine sees him like no one else. She comes into her own with a little help and maybe she’s not such a good girl/. Loved this story and it has the feel of a series so I’m really looking forward to the next member of the Thunderbolt Club finding his match.

She met Lord Dane Walker while he was visiting her village pretending to be Mr. Danny Smith. They became friends but Dane was called back to London after his brother suffered an accident and was not expected to live. When Sandrine is invited to join her friends on a trip to London, she decides to go so that she can speak with the Duke of Rydell and get him to agree to sign over the Manor in Squalton-on-Sea to the historical society so that they could renovate it and use it to attract more visitors to the area. What she finds when she arrives in London is a surprise- Mr. Danny Smith isn't who he said he was when he was visiting them. He was the type of man her mother had warned her to avoid all her life. She now relies on a makeover from her newfound friends and their advise on how to get the Duke of Rydell to sign over the Manor House to the historical society. Once in London and seeing how the other half lives and becoming aware of how repressed her life has been under the guidance of her mother, she discovers that she no longer wishes to live like that.

I thought this was a cute romance. It gave me a bit of Grease vibes with the cute bookish girl and the roguishly handsome bad boy meeting at the beach.

The beginning was quite good, it kept me entertained and I enjoyed watching Sandrine and Dane flirting and slowly falling for each other. It lost me a bit in the middle, and I thought the end was fine.
While this wasn't one of my favorite Lenora Bell books I will definitely keep reading from her in the future.

This was a fun story with lots of crazy side characters. This is the start of a new series and it will be interesting to see whose story will be next. I loved Sandrine ( love the name) her character was a mix of sweetness and naughty. Dane was a bit more complex due to his complex upbringing. There was a bit of mystery as well to make the story interesting.

I’m such a big fan of Lenora! This new series was so fun and sexy! I loved the characters, the banter, and all the Grease vibes!! I enjoyed how our heroine became more of herself and how our hero was actually so sweet and a good guy! I can’t say enough good things! I can’t wait for the next in this series!

As a notable Grease fan who ardently defends the existence of Grease 2, I knew Lenora Bell's YOU'RE THE DUKE THAT I WANT would not only meet my expectations, but exceed them!

While this is marketed as a Grease regency retelling, there are elements that ground it in its designated historical period. This is not a direct 1 to 1 retelling either, allowing readers who are unfamiliar with the original source to read it comfortably without issue.

All in all, I loved this novel, and cannot wait for the next!
